  • Fuel Pump - 2006 Nissan Sentra
    By -

I bought this car in 2009 with about 25k miles on it. Ive had it about 3.5 years and overall its not been a bad vehicle. I too have had problems with the fuel pump but that has been going on for years and its always started up the second time I turn it over. I have had the motors in the rear windows go out twice (once on either side) which cause the windows to go down and not go back up and thats a bit annoying. Also, like most small cars it doesnt handle very well in snow or heavy rain. But the car has been reliable and a great first car for me. The fuel economy is great!

2006 Nissan special edition; have trouble with starting, especially in hot weather; does not start from first try. Should be recalled.

Called my leasing company and said get me the cheapest four door sedan (compact) you could find me. Drove up with this little baby. Got it for $15,300 with extras.... spoiler, leather wrapped steering wheel, FosGate Stereo, even a spoiler and 16 " wheels. Drove it home in a sleet storm. All my co workers watched me sign the papers and clapped. Drove it to Austin yesterday and got 26 mpg. Cost me all of $23 round trip. My old buick would have cost me $80. And boy oh boy will it take a turn, and when Im in a hurry to an appointment, it just rocks. Really lays down and goes.

  • Good. - 2006 Nissan Sentra

My first real car out of college, living in the suburbs of Chicago and was in need of something that I didnt have to mess with. Corolla was the default choice, but I actually found this more manageable in the act of driving. Fuel economy is 40 going 55 mph, 35 at 65 mph, and around 33 on typical highway driving. For the size I feel the car could get a little better, but if you know how to drive for the sake of economy, it makes a significant difference. I have the low-end version and I think the stereo is fine. The drive is quite smooth, though admittedly Im not entirely used to driving newer cars. Zippy. Smooth ride on the highway. Glad I have this.

  • Love it BUT rims stink - 2006 Nissan Sentra
    By -

Now here is the think! I have had this car since it had 13 miles on it! Now 3 yrs old and 47,500 miles later. I have bent 4 rims on this things! I know I know its not a manufacture issue but this stinks! It cost $200 per rim to replace through a private person and $600 through a dealership! Other than that I love the car minus the front cup holders. Just like everyone else. You put your cup in and it hits the cd player. Now that Im married and have a child the car is getting too small. I cant get more than 3 people in comfortable. Im trying to sell my car and get something else but cant because I still owe way too much!

  • Good car for first time driver! - 2006 Nissan Sentra

I got this car for my 16th birthday, Ive never had any problems in the year since then. It is a poorly made car, low end of Nissan for sure, but for a first car it was great. Very easy to drive and gets great gas mileage. The fuel pump is an issue for me just like everyone else who mentioned it, my car has never not started, but it does take two tries sometimes. Other than that I love it! Great first car, I wouldnt buy it if it wasnt for a teen or college student though.

  • Disappointed - 2006 Nissan Sentra

I totally agree with Carolina (first page.) I had a Sentra in the 80s never changed the oil, did any maintenance or anything. Ran like crazy. Now, I totally maintain my 2006 that I bought new and it has had belt replacement, thermostat replacement, heat plate adjustment, and now until it warms up it sound like its going to fall apart under the hood. Also, the cup holder is too close to the stereo controls. It switches from radio to CD when you bump it. The gas mileage isnt the greatest either. I wont buy another Nissan.

  • A truly good car. - 2006 Nissan Sentra

Best model: 1.8 S Special Edition. Edmonds data and reviews are wrong. This is an excellent vehicle. Bought this used with 18K miles. For 10 months have driven car in the city or making short commutes. We also have taken two long trips of 2600 miles. I was a mechanic for years. Note: our other car is a Cadillac with all of the bells and whistles. 1.8 Special Edition model has good looking wheels and spoiler, keyless entry, etc. In terms of features it has more than our Cadillac excepting power seats. Interior is typically basic for an economy car. The leg room is fine for anyone under 63. Mileage is 33 with 1.8 Liter engine and auto trans. Handles well. Super sound. Nice car.

  • Fun ride; Good value - 2006 Nissan Sentra

Looked at all the small performance cars under $20k and thought this the best deal. It is fast and nimble. The boring styling was actually a plus point for me. Buy it with the "racier" colors though.

  • Good but not great - 2006 Nissan Sentra
    By -

Purchased this car in 2006 with only 300 miles on it, since then I have driven to hell and back. It now has 127369 miles on the engine, and the car still running strong. I already replaced the belts, spark plugs and the stock tires, but that would qualify as normal wear replacement. The one issue and biggest problem I have with this car is the fuel pump, at 80,000 miles it gave out and I found out many sentra customers have the same issue. Why will Nissan not do a recall on this unit, to me it seems like nissan does not care for its customers. They want this to come out of our own pocket even though it is a manufacturer problem, nothing the customer has done has caused this faulty fuel kit.
