  • Love this car! - 2006 Nissan Sentra

I bought this car in 07 with 19k on it. Added a Greddy Spectrum Elite catback and Falken Ziex tires. It is fun, and gets decent mileage, and handles really well. My only complaints are: The rings are weak, and my oil consumption has tripled (73k on it now), and sometimes when downshifting into 2nd, it pops out of gear. Keeping oil in it is simple, however, and I just hold the stick in 2nd to prevent the annoyance.

  • 5th Gear Whine - 2006 Nissan Sentra

My wife and I really liked the Sentra when we test drove it. It was small (I am 62 and 250 lbs) but was comfortable enough for me to drive. There is no room in the back seat behind me when I am driving, but we are getting 38 mpg on the highway, and 33 - 34 combined and fuel efficiency was our goal. One thing that really disturbed me was the engine noise produced at 60 - 65 mph. There is a very audible whine that sounds a lot like electrical feedback. We had the transmission replaced, but the noise never went away. The dealership claimed that it was just part of the 5 speed Sentra. To their credit, I test drove another Sentra yesterday and it whined too. It may not bother you, but check

  • Wise First Car Investment - 2006 Nissan Sentra
    By -

The 2006 Honda Sentra 1.8S is my very first car purchase and I have found that is was a great investment for a recent graduate just embarking on my careers course. For the money spent it is a wonderful combination of standard features and dependability. I love the keyless entry because many times after leaving work or leaving the grocery store, I do not have a hand free to unlock the door so being able to do so at the touch of a button is wonderful! The gas mileage is incredible and the handling is more sturdy than I anticipated. My friends, family, and co-workers all agree that I made a wise investment.

  • Keeps truckin - 2006 Nissan Sentra

I bought this car new in July of 06. I drive 500 miles a week more or less and now have 235,500 miles on it. I did have a problem with the fuel pump and crankshaft sensor about a hundred thousand miles ago. It would start the second time every time for the longest while but eventually it worsened. I replaced a starter as a result Had a garage replace the fuel pump and it was better but got worse again. Finally took it to the dealer and got the crankshaft sensor replaced. I think its been a great little car. All the interior buttons still work and the air is cold still after 8 1/2 years. If it dies tomorrow, Id still think its a great little car. The most reliable car Ive ever had.

  • good value - 2006 Nissan Sentra

This is a good value car. Yes, I would have preferred the handling of a Honda Civic, but with the Sentra, I got a reliable car, reasonable performance, and many, many toys (remote keyless entry, alloy wheels, 300W 7-speaker sound system, spoiler, etc.) for $5,000 less than the best price I could get on a base model Civic. The compromise - an older design due for an upgrade and average performance, including handling and fuel economy. Overall, I feel very good about my selection.

  • It worked but - 2006 Nissan Sentra
    By -

Bought this car used in 08 w/ 66k miles on it. Within 1st month, fuel injector pump needed to be replaced. Within 1st yr, 2 motor mounts needed to be replaced 3 times each to no fault of my own, leaving my mechanic puzzled. My mechanic says this car has lots of electrical problems. I bought this car because a friend had one that I loved but ended up being a better car for passenger. It didnt drive very well & the transmission didnt like to shift smoothly. Auto open trunk also stopped working for no apparent reason. I would have kept driving it if it wasnt totaled in an accident (to no fault of the Sentra, poor thing couldnt compete with an SUV!) The seat belts and airbags work great!

  • Poor manufacturing - 2006 Nissan Sentra
    By -

This vehicle overall is reliable, but there are some major issues that have convinced me to never purchase a Nissan again. 1. Computer failure at under 1000 miles 2. Wheel bearing failure of both rear wheel bearings at under 30000 miles (Dealership tried to get out of warranty repair until I showed them that the wheel bearings were specifically covered under drivetrain warranty) 3. Technical bulletin on the fuel pump that causes a hard start. This fuel pump problem of course failed just past the warranty limitation and costs dearly to replace. I recommend replacing this yourself as I fear Nissan may just replace the fuel pump assembly with another OEM "broken" assembly

  • What a deal! - 2006 Nissan Sentra

I knew the 2007 Sentra was a complete redesign, and I always wanted a 2.5 Sentra. The dealer had a SpecV that listed for almost $20,000, but after all the incentives I saved thousands. This car ROCKS. Runs like a rabbit and still gets great gas mileage. Stereo sounds super. People call it outdated, but I still think the SpecV looks awesome. Mine is the Volcanic orange color. I recommend snapping up one of the 06 models before the 07 hits the lots. The dealers are selling a great little car for a song to make room.

  • great car - 2006 Nissan Sentra

I love my Nissan Sentra. Fun to drive. Has grate pick up and moves real smooth. Got the Rockford fostgate audio and that sounds sweet. My only real is the front cup holder. And the fuel pump needs addressing. But for the 10K that I paid for it is worth every penny. The transmission went at about 29k dealer ship said that it was a fluke. Probably the previous owner. Just put a new belt on look worn and did not want it to go when I was driving would have caused more problems. Great car. Hope to keep it for a very long time.
