Overview & Reviews
The Maxima has been fully redesigned for 2004. It now rides on the same underpinnings as the well-received Nissan Altima. This year's Maxima is longer, wider and more powerful than the previous version.
- Roomy interior, lots of upscale options, sweet V6, available with a manual transmission.
- Some small, oddly arranged controls.

Nissan Has A Winner - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By vinnie - October 3 - 1:56 amI have to tell you. Ive had my Max since 2003. Its a great car with both power and style. Still turns heads after 2 years! The engine is smooth and powerful without sacrificing MPG. I avg. 24.9 MPG. Not bad for such a strong motor! If I have anything negative to say, its nothing different that whats already been in reviews - fix the torque steer issue and work on the wide turning radius. Other than that - I love my Maxima!!

Maxima SL - Wow this cars fast - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By TimNelson24 - September 9 - 10:00 amThe best part about the 2004 Maxima is that it has some serious power, but its as luxurious as most European cars that are priced almost twice as much. Its competion, the Toyata Avalon is totally underpowered compared to this car, 210 HP. The best part about the Maxima, is the durability of its V6 engine. My previous car was a 96 Nissan Maxima GXE. After 150,00 miles it still ran like new. Theyre easily 200,000 mile motors. If your thinking about it, I honestly dont think you can go wrong on this car. Its has 5- Series BMW quality for around 30,000. Plus, at least for now, not everyone and their mother has one.

Beware Competition - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By Harold Hellekson - September 4 - 10:00 amI have worked for the dealership I purchased the car from and have always liked the Maxima better than some of our other lines but, when this came out I bought it after a 3 mile test drive without low interest or any rebates. I am careful with my money and it had to be one heck of a car for me to do this and I couldnt be happier. Now you have a 60 year old man that wont pass up a run from the light.

From 02 Altima to 04 Maxima - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By hh56pkd - August 22 - 2:00 amBought the SL. Got 26.5 mpg on recent trip. Getting 22 in town. Only problem is gas cap is very hard to turn when putting back on. And, heating control settings still confusing when operating manually instead of on Automatic. Now have 2800 miles on it. Especially enjoying the Sirius Satellite Radio (no commercials) Smooth and quiet ride and plenty of power.

My Max - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By Jeffert - August 12 - 10:00 amThis car has it all. I believe that the Maxima is a full size verson of the 350Z or better stated a 350Z for us older folks. Fun to drive, almost too fast, this car has style, handling, go and wonderful features for any gizmo goon! The design is the best in class!

Awesome Ride - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By cvflowe - August 6 - 10:00 amI am a first time Nissan Maxima owner and I must say out of all the vehicles I have ever owned this machine is the hottest. The lines are perfect, design is good and the performance makes it one hot family sedan. I can easily become one of those loyal Maxima owners if Nissan keeps pumping them out like this.

Bad Ass Car - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By C Walker - July 29 - 10:00 amThe 04 Maxima SE 6M is truly a jewel to own. My first Maxima was a92 and I loved it. This one is 33% more powerful with a six speed and looks like a car that rivals the good looks of any car in its class. Many thanks to Nissan for the concept on this one.
