Overview & Reviews
There are only minor changes to this Nissan truck for 2006. A power package with keyless entry, cruise control and power windows, locks and mirrors is available for the King Cab XE, and NISMO and LE models now have chrome accents on the gauge cluster and air vents. Additionally, manual transmission-equipped NISMO models have a new shift knob for 2006.
- Powerful V6 engine, roomy interior, innovative bed features, stout frame and advanced off-road systems provide excellent capability in the dirt.
- No regular-cab body style available, too much hard plastic inside, choppy ride on pavement.

Excellent truck at a great price - 2006 Nissan Frontier
By Bruno - September 17 - 10:10 pmI was torn between a Toyota Tacoma and the Frontier, and with the Frontier I got the same features for about $1000 less. Having owned a Frontier in the early 90s, Im happy to say the ride of the new Frontier is much smoother, very car-like, as opposed to the older truck whose ride was very stiff. Sit inside the XE and you will be surprised it is the lowest trim level. You ride high up like an SUV, and both interior and exterior are stylish. Only negative Id mention is that the 4-cylinder engine has a whiny sound. However, its got excellent acceleration, I was very surprised.

Forget Toyota - 2006 Nissan Frontier
By AMP - July 18 - 12:03 pmI really did love my Toyota, it saved my life from a 5 time DUI villain. The truck and I both sustained injuries but Toyota did not survive. I test drove both. In the end I went with Nissan for the following reasons. Nissan offers a king cab 4wd v-6 six speed for about the same price as a reg cab 4wd 4 banger Tacoma. Also the Nissan has alot more room inside. When I was hit, I cracked my head on the doorpost. I know several Tacoma owners who have identical scars. The reason is, the doorpost on a Tacoma is about 2 inches from your head. The Frontier is just much more truck, drives like a caddie, stronger v-6 than my 96 Firebird, and 6 speed gets 20 mpg. And somehow I found an honest dealer

Loving This Truck! - 2006 Nissan Frontier
By CarolinaUte - July 14 - 2:23 amThis is my first Nissan and so far this is the best new car (err truck) experience Ive ever had. I sold my 2003 Toyota Tacoma and after a lot of research and test drives between the 06 Tacoma and Frontier , I decided on the Nissan. I have NO regrets! The workmanship is top notch, unlike my Tacoma that rattled behind the glove box. No rattling in this truck! The power and looks are great, I have had comments at the gas station when I filled up on how great it looks. Its off-road handling is exceptional. Nissan did a great job offering some nice features in the 4x4 model (slip control, downhill assist breaking, etc.). The only thing I would wish for is better gas mileage.

Rides sporty & hauls great - 2006 Nissan Frontier
By ZLOVER - June 22 - 5:30 amLE with sunroof, automatic. Every option except limited slip, which with all the low end torque will squeal off the line too easily. My other car is a 350Z roadster. Bought with 50k and now at 85.000 miles. Using synthetic oil. Zero repairs and same tires. Will need brakes soon.Hit from behind while stopped by a Honda suv at 30 mph. Honda destroyed. Need a bumper and tailgate.

Should Have Been Truck Of The Year - 2006 Nissan Frontier
By Matt - June 15 - 1:23 amWhen Toyota Tacoma was named "Truck of the Year”, I think it was done because of brand name only. When I looked at the Tacoma, I noticed that it did not have full-boxed frame. Part of the frame was C channel. The concept of a composite bed is nice on paperwork but the practical aspect is not. A pickup trucks rear end is light enough without making it lighter by using a composite bed. The V6 in the Frontier is generations ahead of the Tacoma in efficiency (hp to ci) and its done with 87 octane not 90+ as recommended by Toyota.

Did I buy a lemon? - 2006 Nissan Frontier
By Cory - June 4 - 5:10 amI love my truck but at only 2,500 miles I have towed it once and am on my way to the delearship again this morning. Be aware that many Frontiers appear to have faulty steering columns as mine did (reason for towing) and there may also be some brake issues--my brake warning light is now on and Im back to the dealer. Overall, I do love my truck but I am afraid that I bought a lemon. I should not be having these kinds of problems before the first oil change!!

Overall I love this truck - 2006 Nissan Frontier
By Seth - May 11 - 10:00 amI have owned this truck for nearly two years. I bought the truck with only 15,000 miles on it, and I now have 55,000 miles on it. The only repair I have had done to it was the timing chain tensioners/guides, but they were covered under warranty without question. In my opinion that was a poor design. However, everything else on the truck is perfect. I replaced the BF Goodrich tires with Michelin ltx ms tires because I do not drive off road. I hear people complain about gas mileage, but I get 17.5 mpg city and 23 mpg highway. In my opinion that is excellent for a truck with this much horsepower. The handling is excellent, I drive 50 miles daily on paved mountain roads and I love the handling.

A great all around truck - 2006 Nissan Frontier
By G.V.Romano - May 5 - 2:30 pmI bought a leftover 06 and have driven it almost 50k miles in 2yrs. and 9 months. Nothing has ever gone wrong, zero problems. Id like a little better in town mileage but who wouldnt ? Im 61" and I can drive this truck for days at at time and am always comfortable unlike the Toyota I also looked at. This truck has taken me off road, hauling approx.400 lbs. up a logging road and it felt like it was empty. Ive used it for work and play and Ive never second guessed my buying choice. It handles very well, better than some cars Ive driven. The engine is stout and the transmission always knows what gear to be in. The steering very communicative and the truck feels nimble and responsive.

Great car, Great Price, Make us feel Safe! - 2006 Nissan Frontier
By Abel - April 18 - 4:03 pmDitto to what most have said about power, comfort and even the mileage isnt bad. Learn to drive with the flow and accelerate when necessary (not 20 feet from a red like most drivers!) and you can easily get 16-17 on street and I can get 24-25 on highway with cruise control from San Diego to LA.
