This Year's Model Updates:

Although the Endeavor is an all-new vehicle for 2004, an upgraded 2004.5 model was released midway through the year to address some initial shortcomings. The list of upgrades includes more horsepower (225), daytime running lamps, advanced dual-stage front airbags and a tire-pressure monitor as standard. An improved ABS system (with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and traction control) is now available on LS 2WD models and standard on XLS 2WD and Limited 2WD. A full-size spare with alloy wheel and a towing prep package is now standard on LS AWD (optional LS 2WD) and XLS. Standard side-impact airbags for front-seat passengers have been added to the Endeavor XLS. Rounding out the 2004.5 changes are a handful of new options, including a rear-seat DVD entertainment system for XLS and Limited, and traction and stability control for the Limited AWD.

Pros:
  • Carlike ride, roomy seating front and rear, torquey V6 power plant, solid build and materials quality, good crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Less cargo capacity than the class leaders, polarizing interior design.

  • Good solid vehicle - 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor

We test drove the Nissan Murano, the Honda Pilot, and the Saturn Vue, of all of these, we enjoyed the Endeavor the most. Looking out of the windows to check your blind spots is hard especially if you are short. However, the extra large mirrors make up for it.

Great car, awesome performance, feel very safe and secure. Fuel economy is moderate. We have 86,000 miles with without any major problems. Steering column noise at 25,000 miles, dealer replaced under warranty. Interior minor plastic parts have broken off and dash board windshield vent has warped. Overhead cam oil distribution causing cam to temporarily ping during cold weather start up <50 degrees. Overall, very satisfied customers.

  • Mostly Happy So Far - 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor

The buying experience was excellent compared to five new purchases in the past from other dealerships. The Endeavor has met all of our expectations with the exception of mileage. The ride is excellent.

  • Great SUV! - 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor

I have had my Endeavor for 4 years now and have 115,000 miles on it. It has been one of the best vehicles I have ever owned. It still rides very nice and I have not had any major mechanical issues. One problem with struts right after I purchased it, but that is all. I cant recommend a vehicle more for reliability and good looks!

  • Great Suv - 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor

After 17,000 miles(sales, service rep.),I have almost no complaints.Gas mileage is an amazing 23+ MPG in mixed urban,sub-urban and hiway travel. The auto-trans is a little odd, feeling somtimes abrupt. The suspension handles taught yet sucks up the horrible Baltimore city roads(more like off road). The interior has swallowed huge items and is both relativly long and wide with the 2nd row seats down. Seat comfort is very good.Front and back seats are roomy enough four 61" big men.Interior materials have a course feel, yet seem very durable.Radio w/6-CD was great till the rear speakers went sort of bad.

  • endeaver tire issue - 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor

Have had this vehicle for about two months. Had to take it back to the dealer several times to address an issue with th front end vibrating. They eventually had to replace all of the tires because they were "out of spec." Recently have noticed that when I stop and hold the brake pedal it begins to get soft. I havent taken it in for this problem yet. Other than these two items it seems to be all we expected.

  • 105,000 miles - Major Problems About to Hit? - 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor
    By -

I bought this SUV in 2006 with 14,000 miles on it. Enjoyed the comfort, the power, the visibility, and the price. Mileage is average - about what I would expect for the body design and an AWD drivetrain. The AWD has done wonders for tire ware - very even with quality tires. Early on, had the classic water pouring into the passenger and/or driver side floor; 2 trips to the dealership to fix . I get maintenance done regularly. But, engine oil every 3k - 5k with synth oil, & @80K engine started to develop cam/lifter clatter upon startup (goes away once engine warms up).

  • Mostly Very Happy - 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor

I looked at every SUV in Endeavors class (Pilot, Explorer, Trailblazer, etc.) and liked the Endeavor better than them all. Wasnt crazy about the looks of the boom box dash at first, but after a few weeks you dont even notice it. This is a great car for a tall person, and its got good back seat room for kids. People complain about poor gas mileage, but hey, I knew what I was getting into when I bought it. Only complaint is the seat fabric on the LS- its already becoming very worn after only three months. All in all, a great vehicle for the price.

  • Fun to Drive SUV - 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor

My 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor Limited 4WD is a great truck. I have already put 10,000 miles on it in my first three months of ownership It has sufficient power and torque in the hills. Its steering is great too. I would definitely purchase this truck again. It is roomy and has great style in interior as well as the exterior. I picked this truck over the Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot, Nissan Murano, and Chrysler Pacifica. Edmunds long-term test was very helpful. This is a great site with lots of good intelligent information. My family members (passengers) never complian about this truck, and so far it has been trouble free. A test drive is a must to get the feel and experience of what this cross-over SUV is doing right. Looking forward the Ralliart edition.

  • Excellent, but... - 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor
    By -

I just bought this used in Nov 2009. Its got good power, and handles well. Also, for 2WD, it seems to do just fine in the snow. Gas mileage isnt very good, but Im used to a compact. I have found 18mpg city, but Im not that aggressive of a driver. The EPA claims 14 or so, which isnt true. It will move if you put your foot down, and feels very settled even under hard acceleration. Fuel economy disappears with aggressive driving habits. The engine is noisy at high RPMS but not unpleasant. I would like to see a better lit display for clock/audio, and rattle from interior panels. I would recommend this model, and feel that Mitsubishi offers quality vehicles.
