This Year's Model Updates:

Although the Endeavor is an all-new vehicle for 2004, an upgraded 2004.5 model was released midway through the year to address some initial shortcomings. The list of upgrades includes more horsepower (225), daytime running lamps, advanced dual-stage front airbags and a tire-pressure monitor as standard. An improved ABS system (with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and traction control) is now available on LS 2WD models and standard on XLS 2WD and Limited 2WD. A full-size spare with alloy wheel and a towing prep package is now standard on LS AWD (optional LS 2WD) and XLS. Standard side-impact airbags for front-seat passengers have been added to the Endeavor XLS. Rounding out the 2004.5 changes are a handful of new options, including a rear-seat DVD entertainment system for XLS and Limited, and traction and stability control for the Limited AWD.

Pros:
  • Carlike ride, roomy seating front and rear, torquey V6 power plant, solid build and materials quality, good crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Less cargo capacity than the class leaders, polarizing interior design.

For the money, this appeared to be the best buy. The Endeavor has style, enough power, comfort, nice ride. It is spacious. The special 3 yr/45000 maintenance package was another positive. Have always had good service at the dealer.

Love this car. Very comfortable for my husband and I both. He will even drive it. He wouldnt dirve my Montero Sport. The Montero gave me no problems so I look for this car to be the same. Drive very smooth - it is on a car chassis. Back seat has plenty of kroom left after we put the car seat in for our child.

My husband and I bought the Endeavor less than a week ago and we love it. We test drove a couple other SUVs, one being the Pilot and we kept going back to the Endeavor. The ride is nice, the interior is roomy, and Mitsubishi gave us a great deal. We also own a 93 Mits. Galant with 164,000 miles and still going strong. Were expecting the Endeavor to do the same.

Bought my new 04 Endeavor for myself as a birthday present. I looked at a Durango, but it came only in an 8 cyl. and I didnt want a gas guzzler, but still pretty nice. Highly considered an 04 4Runner, but Toyota has a habit of adding on options a consumer my not want, therefore raising the sticker anywhere from $1000-$3000 and out of my desired price range and budget. THEN, one day I drove the Endeavor LS FWD, and it drove like a car. Comparable ride to the 4Runner SR5, but about $4500.00 less with a better warranty, and tires for life. My wife fell in love with it on the first drive, and enjoyed the roomy feeling.

My Endeavor has 7K+ miles now. Around 6K miles, I heard a whisling sound on the right side of the car when driving 45-55mph. I brought it to a local Mit-dealer and had them check. What they found is abnormal sound from the transmission. This is really let me down. Besides, Mit. says that I can get 17 mpg in city and 21 mph on highway. This is not true b/c my Endeavor gives me 16.5 mph from driving mostly on highway. Everything else is great!

I wanted a SUV but wanted something that sticks out as unique. I went to the dealership to buy an Outlander, but once my kids and I test drove the Endeavor we all fell in love with it , it drives like a dream, it is so quiet and very roomy, it has been a wonderful car so far.......

Performance-wise, this SUV is outstanding. I like the car-like handling and of course, as most of you know by now, its torquey 225-hp engine.

  • Never again - 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor

Early on the wipers made horrible noise. Then the Drive shaft went out and had to be replace. Today took it in and the transmission is out at 64k miles with regular service. Too much trouble and poor service. CD player only works half the time NEVER AGAIN

The only two pitfalls are with the use of premium gas, and when you try to ride with the rear windows down, at a speed above 35-40, strong vibration like wind sound which is annoying, makes it almost impossible to enjoy the ride. Other than that, WE LOVE THIS VEHICLE!
