This Year's Model Updates:

Two new trim levels, the R320 CDI and the R63 AMG, are available this year. The R320 CDI has a diesel-fueled engine for enhanced fuel economy, while the R63 AMG is modified for high performance and comes equipped with a 503-horsepower V8.

Pros:
  • Wide range of engine choices, seating for six, functions much like a luxury minivan but without the associated mommy-mobile stigma.
Cons:
  • Long and heavy rear doors, gasoline V6 is short on low-end torque, high price for glorified minivan functionality.

  • Great car! - 2007 Mercedes-Benz R-Class

We bought our R-class in May of 07 and love it! It is excellent in the snow and there is a lot of room in for all of our stuff! We have little boy so with little ones comes carseats, strollers and bags..the R-class accomodates all of these very well. The only thing I wish it would have had is a middle console in the second row, which is now available on the 08 model. Other than that we love the car. A great buy and reasonably priced for a Mercedes.

  • Great family vehicle; beast in the hills - 2007 Mercedes-Benz R-Class

Great family vehicle with lots of room and fantastic comfort when cruising on the highway. Low rating on "Fun-to- Drive" because frankly this car/van/stationwagon/crossover isnt intended to be fun to drive the way a sedan might. Its a safe, roomy, family vehicle with style. That said, I will confess that the diesel engine makes this vehicle a beast in the mountains. We live in Colorado and it is sometimes mind- boggling to me how easily this car climbs steep grades. I will say that snow handling was very poor with the original tires, but once replaced became respectable. Fuel economy for this size vehicle is also very respectable. Overall 24-25 mpg. (Around town 19; Highway 27).

Most bang for your buck for a Mercedes by far. Had ours for a month and quite pleased other than the lumbar adjustment is a little lacking with its the manual lever (akin to something on a 80s Honda). The bluetooth module is also $500 bucks from the dealer and really should be included as well as the available seat adjustments on other models. Another gripe is the navigation; really not as intuitive compared to other less prestigious manufacturers. The diesel has good acceleration and is unbelievably quiet but youll pay a little extra for it up front and at the pump but hey its four wheel drive. Im one of those that love the looks and interior styling and hope they dont change it.

Love the diesel, great fuel economy, great power, not too mechanically noisy. Lots of space, nice predictable handling, comfortable seats for the very tall driver, good quality fit and finish, roomy interior and huge sun/moon/galaxy roof, wrapped in attractive aerodynamic styling.

Drives nicely, low maintenance. Changed 4 tires at 23,000 miles looks fancy and with style not to many people have it. Paint always looks shiny looks as new. Good acoustic, you can all talk and be heard inside the car, different from other vans where only the people in the front can talk. Very silent the motor, no noise from the outside, you get the feeling you are inside a private mini jet.

The build quality and attention to detail is simply exceptional. The vehicle design gives enough room for six adults comfortably.

Telling friends and family about this car is difficult but once they see it or ride in it they are impressed. In fact, I get looks of disbelief when I tell them that it is a diesel.

  • After one year woes - 2007 Mercedes-Benz R-Class

After 16 months I would have said almost a perfect 10 on this car. Bringing it in for 20K service has turned into a nightmare. Replacement of recall item has turned into now a replacement of transmission, turbo etc.. So in fairness, I loved my car before this.

  • Best MB I ever had. - 2007 Mercedes-Benz R-Class

Most comfortable and quiet Mercedes Benz I ever had. Safety is outstanding. Handling is wonderful and the space for the sitting area excellent. Overall this car is the most recommendable vehicle for long distance convenient driving.

  • Superior Safety, Excellent Economy, Comfort for Six. - 2007 Mercedes-Benz R-Class

I researched every vehicle that would seat 6 adults. The rear seats in most SUVs do not accommodate adults. In contrast, the R-class rear seats are perfectly comfortable and roomy for full-sized adults. The only vehicles that equal the R-class for access and comfort for 6 adults are minivans. The diesel engine is amazing. We get 28-30 mpg on trips. Power is plentiful, except from a dead stop, due to minor turbo lag. If you plan to dart away from each stop light, then go with the R500. Otherwise, you will love the CDI and the additional 10+ mpg. Ultimately I chose the R-class because it had the best combination of safety, luxury features and comfortable room for 6 adults.
