This Year's Model Updates:

Diesel fans, rejoice! After years of waiting, a Mercedes-Benz diesel is once again available in the States, as the E320 CDI joins the lineup. For now, this model is only 45-state certified, meaning that it's unavailable in California, Maine, Massachusetts, New York or Vermont. Beginning in March 2005, the base E320 becomes the E350 with the addition of a 3.5-liter V6 with 51 more horsepower. At the same time, a sport package will be added, which features upgraded suspension tuning and wheels, as well as steering wheel-mounted shift buttons. Complimentary scheduled maintenance program has been dropped for 2005.

Pros:
  • Sleek and dignified design inside and out, pleasing blend of ride and handling, sophisticated safety features, all-wheel drive available on both sedans and wagons.
Cons:
  • More expensive than competitors, confusing control layout, electronically controlled brakes lack progressive feel.

  • Love this car - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

First the buying experience was exceptional & flawless. I live in NE PA & vehicle availabilty as well as professional salesmanship are not available. I also own an 04 C-240 4-Matic which led us to the E Class. My wife & I are both extatic with these two vehicles. I feel safe in these cars. They handle exceptionally well. Not a single problem with either. The size of the E vs. the C makes it firmer. The C is awesome in winter driving and look forward to the experience wthis winter with the E. DVD Nav is awesome. Wouldnt change a thing on my E. I traded an 03 Lexus ES300 which I liked, but the E is better. "I just love this car"

  • 2005 E320 4matic Awesome Ride - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

This car handles great and has been very reliable compare to what others have written about it. It has very good acceleration, gas mileage is decent and the interior/exterior design is fantastic. I love it. Black with beige interior two tone is luxury. Everybody looks when I drive. Aerodynamics is nothing but the best. Stereo could be a little louder but great sound anyway. Trust on this one change your transmission fluid...no such thing is lifetime. Dont get past 60k without changing fluid...you wont regret it. The interior lighting is a whole lot better than BMW. Tires should be rotated at least once a year because they are expensive. This is my life time car....would never sell it.

  • My new E320 CDI - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

This is my first Mercedes Benz vehicle and I love it. The 3.2-liter turbo diesel is very fast and powerful. The fuel economy is awesome, 27mpg in the city and 35mpg on the hwy. There is no annoying diesel chatter or smell.

  • Best Benz - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

My Benz is the best driving car I have owned. Cornering and braking are excellent. A Little more space in the "E" would be a plus.

I had a 2003 E500 which seemed quicker than this car, I think for the money it should have more hp

  • E500 AMG Sport - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

This is my first Mercedes and what a delight so far. I bought the E500 with the AMG Sport package (larger tires, special alloy wheels, E55 body panels, dual exhausts extensions, etc). The sport package really sets off the looks by giving it a bit more aggressive look while improving the handling of the car. It is very smooth and powerful for a car with just over 300 HP. This is the first new car that I have owned that has not needed any oil added so far (over 8K miles) based on the electronic oil measuring system.

  • Teutonic Elegance.....but will it last? - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

My wife and I both love the car. Although a utilitarian vehicle, we sometimes think were driving a sports car. The interior comfort, ride and handling cant be beat. Our car was described by Mercedes technicians and sales reps as "bullet proof". Mechanically, it has been, but if only they had kept the electronics simple and more reliable. The car regularly flashes inappropriate warning lights on the dash, emits "beeps" while driving with no known reason and the satellite radio has been erratic and unreliable. To check the oil level, you need to access the owners manual and go through a series of commands to reach the correct screen. Overall, a great car. We just hope it holds up.

  • E320 CDI is a joy - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

My E320 CDI (Turbo diesel) is a joy to drive. Mileage is amazing. A wonderful, solid feeling road car. Interior is miles ahead of BMW 535 and Audi A6. I drive 300 miles a week and I only get fuel once every 2 weeks! Navigation system is excellent as is the suspension. This car has been tweaked to near perfection. As promised by the dealer, cold weather starting is fantastic - 3 seconds of glow plug operation in 10 degrees and it starts faster that gasoline engines - WOW! My dealer, Leikin in Willoughby has been great. Mercedes is working very hard to make sure you love the vehicle and the dealer. Lots of surveys to insure satisfaction.

  • My 11th mercedes - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

i have owned my 05 E320 for six months and 13k miles. It is visually delightful-much more so than my 01 E 320-both inside and out. The car can best be described as seamless and unobtrusive. I own a ferrari and a zippy 911 which dont get much use because this car is so pleasant to drive. The power is very adequate, climate control is perfect, ride feels like an easy chair and the handling is nimble. I am on a three year lease and cant wait to get the E 350.
