This Year's Model Updates:

For 2006, both the wagon and the slow-selling C-Class coupe are history, leaving only the sedan. A V6 engine is now standard on every sedan model. The C230 gets a new 201-hp, 2.5-liter V6, while the C240 is renamed the C280 and has a 228-hp, 3.0-liter V6. The C320 is now the C350, boasting a 268-hp, 3.5-liter V6. 4Matic-equipped vehicles get an improved five-speed automatic, and rear-wheel-drive models get a new seven-speed automatic.

Pros:
  • State-of-the-art safety and luxury features, pleasing power from top V6 engine.
Cons:
  • More expensive than competitors, ordinary cabin furnishings, small backseat, only available as a sedan.

Excellent handling. Great performance from 200 hp. Excellent dash and instruments. 7 speed: super. Performs better than my C320 did as a result of the 7 speed. Super brakes and good positioning of the brake above the floor.

I just bought my C230 about a month ago and it is really a nice car. Great interior and exterior. Comes standard with very nice 17 inch Mercedes rims and has that classy but sporty look to it. It has a 6 cylinder engine that gives 201 horses. While going 100 mph on the highway it feels like youre going 50. if youre going to buy a car in the $30-40,000 dollar range I highly suggest you look at the C230

This is a great automobile to drive. Ride, comfort and performance are outstanding. Build qualiy is excellent and the C280 is just the right size for getting around town or on the interstate.

This care is perfect. It is heavy for a car, and it drives SO smoothly. It seems to hug the road. I absolutely love this car!

  • Still the best - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

What an impressive value! The styling is fantastic- they really did it right with the wheels and tires combination. Even the brake clipers say Mercedes on them (my friends $70,000 Audi doesnt). Ive only put 1,500 miles on it in 4 months and it lives in the garage, but is an absolute joy to drive. Pickup with the 6sp manual seems pretty good, but I havent seen the economy on the sticker yet. Nicely equipped too, with lots of standards like the power seat, rain sensing windshield wipers, automatic headlights, sunshade, etc. Great value- I looked at the IS250, but Mercedes is still the best.

I get 32 mpg on highway and 23 mpg in city driving. I dont understand how people can rate the mpg less than ten. This is my third M-B, and I love it as much as my prior two. It requires very little maintenance expenditures. All I have spent $ for since I purchased it was for 2 tires and the usual oil and filter changes.

  • First 1000 kms....great - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

This is my third C-class, so I knew exactly what to expect from the very beginning. The vehicle is much more refined, quieter and more confortable that previously owned C230K coupe and C240. Engine performance is superb with the 3.0 litre V6, pick-up is great at any speed as transmission selects the proper ratio every time. Fuel consumption is 7-8% better than the C240 but 10% more than C230K. Quite acceptable with a range of 800 kms. Now for the transmission: pick-up is immediate and fast in S mode, but the system takes a second or so to find second gear before taking off from a stop in Comfort mode. Yes the car really takes off in second gear.

  • Outstanding car for the money - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

This is my second Mercedes. The car feels much bigger than it is. Gas mileage is around 24 in town and close to 30 on long trips. Love the looks and the styling with the low profile tires and wheels. Fit and finish of the car is outstanding.

My C280 is the sixth MB I have owned from the same dealership. I have always been happy, until this car. At first, it was what I had come to expect from MB. Now, after 64,000 miles, there are creaks and squeaks, the "check engine" light comes and goes, and the silver trim on the interior is peeling away. Adding the ultimate insult, I visited the dealership to trade for a new one, and was offered $12,000 for trade. YIKES! On a three year old car! The resale value was enough to send me running to the nearest Cadillac dealership, and the plastic finish in the C300 didnt help. The CTS 3.6L out performed the C300 hands down. The luxury finish out sealed the deal.

I just took delivery on 8-21-05 and boy was I excited. The new Nano paint technology makes this car look like a jewel. Ive had several new cars in the past to include, BMW, Infiniti, VW, etc. and by far, Mercedes put their best foot forward this year. Before leaving the lot, the salesman told me to start the car so he could show me some features. I told him it was running the entire time we were talking. Unbelievely the quietest car on the market. Quality inside and out.
