This Year's Model Updates:

For 2006, both the wagon and the slow-selling C-Class coupe are history, leaving only the sedan. A V6 engine is now standard on every sedan model. The C230 gets a new 201-hp, 2.5-liter V6, while the C240 is renamed the C280 and has a 228-hp, 3.0-liter V6. The C320 is now the C350, boasting a 268-hp, 3.5-liter V6. 4Matic-equipped vehicles get an improved five-speed automatic, and rear-wheel-drive models get a new seven-speed automatic.

Pros:
  • State-of-the-art safety and luxury features, pleasing power from top V6 engine.
Cons:
  • More expensive than competitors, ordinary cabin furnishings, small backseat, only available as a sedan.

  • Decent Vehicle - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
    By -

I purchased this vehicle when my 2000 E320 got totaled out by a drunk driver. I purchased the vehicle with 44k miles on it and have not had to do much but the required maintenance. There are a few things that have broken in the interior (door pulls broke, glove box broke). Minor things, but things I am not used to. All in all, i enjoy the car. Its fun to drive and I still driving an MB. The key is regular maintenance. I look forward to having this car for a few more years.

  • Fun to Drive - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

I have put 14,000 miles on the car already and have the following summary: Exterior looks are very good. Interior is average and the seats are not well made. The MB Tex material seems to stain easily. Stereo is probably the best sounding car stereo that I have listened to. Amazing sound quality. Transmission is sluggish/indecisive and the best way to quickly accelerate is to manually shift down using the manual shift feature. The engine is quite impressive in the 3500 - 5000 RPM range, but that is not where you usually drive. Handling is very good, but the tires seem to wear quickly. Build quality/reliability is only average.

  • 325 Vs. 230 - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

This is my 2nd MB, the 1st 92E300. My wife owns a 00 BMW 323 since birth. And before I purchased the C230, I test drove the new 06 BMW 325. The cockpit is very ergo for my wife & I, shes 5 00" and Im 510". In Automatic mode, from the start, the take off studders, however, in manual mode, the power is in your hands and I feel a smoother acceleration. Two driving modes, "cold" & "summer". When "cold" is engage, the car feels extra stable and driving feels safe. I didnt feel this w/ the 325.

  • Performance Decrease for 2006 - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

I assume it was for "Marketing" purposes but starting 2006, Benz is putting a 6cyl just breaking that "magic barrier" at a reported 201HP. Well I just traded my 2004 C230 Kompressor in for a 2006 that I had ordered. It was the first 2006 C230 to be delivered so I hadnt driven a 2006. Big Mistake! There is a significant perforance drop compared to my 2004 even though it has a reported 189 HP, but I think the key is there is less torque on the new 6 cyl compared to the 4 cyl.

  • I like this baby Benz! - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

I got the 2006 C230 Sport Sedan with 6 speed manual, The shifter is kind of short and hard. Its like you have a aftermarket short shifter! I love it ! The new 2.5 V6 is NOT fast than the I4 w/supercharger. But I feel more power on the high end. The sports tuned suspension may be too hard for some people, but its a lot of better than my EVO 8! The ride is smooth on freeway. If the power is not something you looking for. The C230 sport sedean is very nice in and out! Just not as fast as Volvo S40 T5 or BMW 330i!

  • Nice Vehicle, But Depreciated Too Fast - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
    By -

I bought my 2006 C230 new and loved it- -it handle extremely well and had good acceleration and superb braking. But the back seat was cramped for adults, so I finally decided to sell it. I cannot rate the vehicle as a good investment, because of its depreciation. The Kelly Blue Book value I advertised drew little interest, so I lowered the price. Then I looked at Kelly Blue Book a week later and the car had depreciated another $1500! I then unloaded it as fast as I could, at $17,000, and felt lucky to get even that. (Dealers only offered $14,600 for it on trade!) I paid $33k for the car, and am disappointed it depreciated so much with only 27k miles and being only 34 months old.

  • Squeak, Rattle and Buzz! - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Squeaks, rattles, and buzzes like a 30 yr old Blazer. Surprisingly poor build quality and blatant cheapness in materials. At idle the fuel pump rattles and thumps so bad it makes the car sound like a diesel. Not like the old school MBZ!

  • Nice Car, Could be better for the price - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Bought it used 22K Miles (Paid 17.5K - yeah rubbing it in) Car is fun to drive, perfect for the Driver who wants a sports car which can also drive like a luxury car when you need it. I have always been a Lexus owner, the one thing that stands up when I get into the C350 is the Plastic. Even my 8 yr old RX doesnt look this cheap inside.

I bought this car for myself on my 21st birthday. I traded in a 2004 SLK320 that I loved! Its a beautiful looking car of course just like all the other Mercedes. Anyhow the car had just under 30k when I bought it and now has almost 40k. No problems at all.Tires stink and need to be changed to something better. Xenon headlights I think should be standard in a MB. Maintenance costs is of course expensive but your not driving a Honda after all. I love the ride and tight feel of the car overall. I feel safe and secure.Mine is black on black with limo tint so its pretty sexy. Rims are really nice too. Rain sensing wipers are very annoying but otherwise great car.Benz all the way. Buy one youll love it!!!

  • Great Car! - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

The comments from this website really made me backed out from buying the car, but I finally couldnt resist and bought it. Now I have owned it for a month, and I LOVE IT! Accelertaion on the freeway is very smooth. If you are going to buy the car, the extended warranty is highly recommended, because there will be some mechanical problems. There IS a cup holder in the back. You have too pull out the thing in between the seats.
