This Year's Model Updates:

For 2006, both the wagon and the slow-selling C-Class coupe are history, leaving only the sedan. A V6 engine is now standard on every sedan model. The C230 gets a new 201-hp, 2.5-liter V6, while the C240 is renamed the C280 and has a 228-hp, 3.0-liter V6. The C320 is now the C350, boasting a 268-hp, 3.5-liter V6. 4Matic-equipped vehicles get an improved five-speed automatic, and rear-wheel-drive models get a new seven-speed automatic.

Pros:
  • State-of-the-art safety and luxury features, pleasing power from top V6 engine.
Cons:
  • More expensive than competitors, ordinary cabin furnishings, small backseat, only available as a sedan.

  • Not Such A Good Choice - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Ive had my 06 C280 for about 14 months now. I have had it into the dealer five times, each time with a list of minor problems. The last visit, three weeks ago, the transmission was replaced under warranty. Plenty of squeaks, rattles and vibrations. Transmission still seems to make a funny noise. My center console cover has come off four times. This is my first and last Mercedes. They have sacrificed quality and reliability.

I purchased this car a day before my 37th birthday. I previously owned a 2006 Chrysler 300 Limited which was destroyed in the flood. The MB has a nice comfortable ride and I like the comfort mode versus the sport mode. However, the transmission responsiveness is not my favorite. Also, MB needs to make the iPod hookup, memory seats, navigation and CD Changer standard equipment.

  • Maintenance Beware - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Extremely happy with vehicle: performance, feel, handling, etc. Very unhappy with hidden maintenance. I expressed early concerns about this and all is not what it seems. 24k miles on vehicle atm 2 services A & B $700 (with discount coupons) need pads $230-$250, rotors $500-$650, 3 Tires (cant rotate uses dif. size on front and back) $270 Each For a total of $2410.00! When i said this is a bit much to service manager for a $30k car was told its normal maintenance. That adds minimum of $10K to cost of vehicle over a 6 yr period thats insane. When I said that the tires are warrantied for 50k miles or 48 months was told not against wear and tear only defects? Beware buyer get it in writing

  • Good/Bad - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

I love this vehicle, BUT it has actually had a lot of problems. My radio has gone out three times, my airbags quit working, and my trunk began to not shut! Im probably getting a new car in about a month. Maybe I just got a bad one of the bunch.

  • Poor mans Mercedes - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

It has most of they features of the luxury Mercedes Benz like they S-class but it is priced reasonably. I just got out of high school and it is the perfect first car!

  • Love it - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

I traded my Honda in for an 06 C230 last May. I love the looks of the car, it has a very intimidating "aggressive" looking stance, and when its clean (i got black) it looks amazing, Im constantly getting looks from other drives checking the car out. However, I wish I would have gotten a Kompressor, this vehicle is too slow in stop and go traffic and around town driving, its hard to explain but it would almost feel like a "turbo lag" you are flooring the pedal and its not going no where fast, but at freeway speeds its very responisive. I have never driven a vehicle that handles as well as this car does...Mercedes hasnt sacraficed anything in reguards to handeling and braking.

  • Superman of cars - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Very stealthy by looks. Looks like another C class on the block but when you press hard on gas it becomes super car ;) . I like its underdog appearance which does not attract attention everywhere I go but folks who knows about AMG and see quad exhausts, they know its a beast. Gives the feeling of a race car when you need, comfy compact 4 seater rest of the time. Wifey get 22.5 mpg and I get 16. So it keeps everyone happy.

I bought my new 2006 E350 4 dr sedan last month so its hardly a relationship as of yet. I was attracted immediately to the body styling and the roomy interior without looking bulky. The trunk is spacious and can fit five pieces of luggage comfortably. I am a little disappointed with the sound system since it vibrates a little when you crank it up. The gas mileage has been fair but not what the manufactured promissed. The traction on this car is amazing as I drive a mountain road daily. It handles almost like a sports car with ride as smooth as cream. All bumps are cushioned and with the windows closed and driving around 80 its just me and my new car.

  • C230 - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
    By -

This is the first Mercedes that I have owned. I traded in a 2004 Nissan 350Z. I must say this car is just about the name Mercedes. Very sluggish, no power. Have had problems with the center console locking. The interior is only part leather, just doesnt have that new car feel. The seats arent that comfortable, and the airconditioner is just ok. Turn signal is very loud.

  • Problems - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

So my fiance got a C230. Had 400 miles when we met. But noticed a weird noise so took it to dealer and they replaced power steering assembly and that was at 400 miles! Then at 5000 miles idler pulley was replaced and sunroof needed reprogramming. Then now at 7600ish miles annoying rattling noise started to appear. This is a fun car but not really reliable vehicle. I cannot imagine drivng this vehicle without a warranty.
