Overview & Reviews
New body-colored door edge guards are available as an option, as is Homelink and an auto-dimming rearview mirror with a built-in compass.
- Roomy and comfortable interior, peppy V6 engine, drives more like a car than a truck.
- Weak base four-cylinder, mediocre fuel economy and driving range on V6 models, cheap-looking interior.

Surprising 2004 Mazda Tribute LX-A - 2004 Mazda Tribute
By hughlock - June 11 - 10:00 amThis SUV is just plain old fun to drive. The steering is extremely responsive with no "center dead space" to limit reaction time. Some people have complained about the wind noise at high speeds; I suggest you test drive some of the other makers of SUVs and you will change your mind. The Tribute is an overall success at a great price. Mine was less than $20,000.

Quality Vehicle for a good price - 2004 Mazda Tribute
By Tim PD1 - May 10 - 10:00 amThis is a well built vehicle. I would buyanother one and tell friends to buy one. It looks better then the escape because of the matched color paint on the outer body. I do wish it would get just a little better gas mileage. over all I would get this SUV again in a heartbeat.

Tribute Gold - 2004 Mazda Tribute
By tardif - March 23 - 2:00 amI enjoy driving the 2004 Mazda Tribute Gold Addition. I average 238 miles to the gallon in city driving. The Tribute appears to have more interior room. With 5 boys and 3 over 6 feet tall we need all the room we can get.

Comfortable for two of the teens in our house but wouldnt want all three in the back at the same time. Great stereo upgrade package and cargo tray. Fun car.

MAzda - 2004 Mazda Tribute
By Mfbosch - March 11 - 10:00 amGreat vehicle. Seats are a little stiff but everything else overcompensates for it. Very sporty, handles well.

Had Ford Escape - 2004 Mazda Tribute
By Dorfer - February 8 - 2:00 amI had a Ford Escape for 55,000 miles. Just traded for Mazda and like it better. Classier look and feel. Quieter. Several little extras included. Cheaper price, higher rebate, longer warranty.

Fun and Reliable - 2004 Mazda Tribute
By Danjim - February 8 - 2:00 amWell-built & fun to drive. Reliable and stylish. The 16 gallon tank makes you keep an eye on the fuel gage always on the look out for the next station. Dealer tag says 25mpg on the highway and I have only been able to get 22.5 mpg wiht highway driving. It is great for getting 3 little girls to school, and dance. I can get them in and out easily.

Worth It - 2004 Mazda Tribute
By kkcaufield - February 8 - 2:00 amHave had the Tribute for one month - 1000 highway miles, 1000 local miles. Great Highway Mielage - local mielage is okay and is as advertised - its an SUV, remember? NO PROBLEMS! Love It! Compared it with Escape - seems to corner better, and handle better (dont know why). Being a Mazda, it should hold its value better than Escape. Buying experience was better than the Ford Dealership.

this is the one - 2004 Mazda Tribute
By Mike - February 5 - 1:13 pmI tried both the Escape and Tribute. I liked handling and style of Mazda. Mine is an ES with V6, AWD. This is a very good small SUV. I have had this vehicle for 1 year. It has 22k on it; 11k are mine. I maintain meticulous records of not just the mpg but rate the tank on how much city and highway driving I did and even on how hard I drove it. I averaged 16 mpg across 11k miles where I drove 85% suburban/15% highway. My worst mpg was 14 mpg all city driving and my best mpg was 22 mpg on all highway driving. [It is rated 18/24; I have yet to own a car that got its rated values and probably never will.] If you want a small 6 cylinder SUV, this is the one.

Im Happy - 2004 Mazda Tribute
By loophole - December 27 - 2:00 amThe ES-V6 is both quick and nimble. Smooth running engine; smooth shifting transmission. The ES model has plenty of doodads and gizmos for entertainment. The premium sound system sounds great and is easy to use. On the down side, there is a bit much road and/or drivetrain noise, and the front seats (or my butt) could use some extra padding.
