Overview & Reviews
For 2006, all vehicles in the Mazda 6 lineup have revised front and rear fascias, while sport package-equipped models get a new grille and side sill design. The optional automatic transmission on four-cylinder models is upgraded from a four-speed unit to a five-speed. Additionally, the V6 has been modified to improve exhaust emissions, resulting in 5 less horsepower (now 215). ABS and traction control are now standard on all i models, while all s models now come with an eight-way power driver seat, an alarm system and a standard side and side curtain airbags.
- More fun to drive than most family cars, slick-shifting manual transmission, smooth power delivery, nicely appointed interior, multiple body styles.

Great mid size car - 2006 Mazda Mazda6
By cchristina79 - March 28 - 8:23 pmI have a 2006 Mazda6 i and have owned it for a little over two years now. I am very happy with this cars performance and looks. I have received many compliments at work on the exterior paint and design. Definitely an eye catcher. One thing I do not like in regards to the Mazda6 is the cloth interior. It is very cheap and wears a lot (especially for a model that is not low end for Mazda). The Mazda 3 even has better interior than the 6. I have already had the cloth seats redone under warranty and they have worn out again.

A fun mid-size sedan - 2006 Mazda Mazda6
By Alex H. - March 10 - 7:10 pmIve had my 6 i Sport with AT for about a month now and so far it has been a very enjoyable car to drive. I like the design (both exterior and interior), which offers a sporty look. The sport package adds a lot of nice standard features. The Bose audio system is great, although the CD changer shouldve been MP3 compatible as a standard feature. I find that the AT tends to be a bit slow to downshift sometimes, but maybe its just my style of driving. Overall it performs well and smooth. The interior is quiet and well laid out. Im getting about 27mpg so far in mixed driving, but expect that to improve a bit.

Most reliable car I ever bought - 2006 Mazda Mazda6
By idahogal - February 6 - 11:45 pmI bought my Mazda6 new in 2006 and have been really happy with it. I commute 60 miles a day round trip and have never had it in the shop for anything other than regular maintanence. The only minor thing that was ever wrong with it was a missalignment of the window washer fluid jets. It has never left me stranded, never has made any weird sounds and is really quite fun to drive. I just got it detailed, waxed and the headlights buffed and people at work think the car still looks brand new. The body style is still so current, I dont know if it will ever be outdated. I am so glad that I made the choice to buy Mazda.

My Mazda6 - 2006 Mazda Mazda6
By Sue Mastel - December 22 - 8:20 pmI had one problem 4 days after I got it. The throttle casing had to be replaced. No fun trying to drive under 30 mph when in a 50 mph zone. Was fixed immediately, but had to drive it all the way back to the Mazda dealership, 2 hours away. Overall, I am very satisfied with how it runs now. Would recommend it to other potential buyers.

Worthy of the best of the best crown - 2006 Mazda Mazda6
By couleeman - November 5 - 10:03 amIm now on my fourth Mazda6, and after over 100K miles collectively, this car fits me like my favorite pair of jeans. This latest version is an 06 Sport V6 manual sedan with only the Sunroof/Bose pkg. This car is loaded with convenience, utility, style, comfort, competence, and efficiency. Its equally at home in city traffic or in the backcountry and is deceptively fast and always under control (unless you are doing something profoundly stupid!). All of this probably sounds like gushing but keep in mind, my car sold for <20K brand new- EXCEPTIONAL VALUE! Ive left home to buy BMW 325 but each time, Ive come home with a new Mazda6. No regrets, no problems, a sincere thank you Mazda!

Fun Car to Drive - 2006 Mazda Mazda6
By Indyowner - August 28 - 10:06 amThis is a fun car to drive, and it is reliable too! This car is especially fun on the highway. Just take it on an on ramp and you will know what I mean. The turning radius stinks because of wheel base, but that makes it handle better on long turns. I have the 5 speed automatic. They sell these for less than the Accords. Everyone told me to buy a Honda for the reliability, but I already know from experience that Hondas break down too (I own an older Accord). My advice, test drive it and see if you can get past the short turning radius. If you can, you will love to drive this car as it is a solid performer.

Best car ever - 2006 Mazda Mazda6
By tom chandler - July 20 - 10:16 pmThroughly satisfied with this vehicle. Have 4k miles and I have no problems so far. Very fast with the V6 and a nice throaty sound when the pedal is down...otherwise very quiet. Comfortable seating and powerful headlights. Only negative are the controls for the heater/ac are too complicated and should go back to manual dials rather than the digital readout. The 17" tires/rims are sharp. Get many compliments on the sporty style - looks like a sports car but has the 4 doors for convenience.

My Mazda6 - 2006 Mazda Mazda6
By Sue Mastel - July 16 - 6:10 amBought new and had a throttle casing problem in 3 days. Was fixed immediately. Otherwise, I am extremely happy with this car. Gets better gas mileage than my Jeep Liberty.

Fun to Drive - 2006 Mazda Mazda6
By Catherine - June 22 - 7:40 pmCar is fun to drive, plenty of power, brakes are right there, handling fun to corner with, and sluggish start but kicks right in. I like the manual transmission option. Front seats and trunk is spacious. Easy to get in and out of the car. Gas mileage is exactly as quoted, as long as you dont drive it with heavy foot. Doesnt have OEM mudflaps for it. Steering wheel has plenty of adjustment, up, down, in, and out.

Mazda6 - 2006 Mazda Mazda6
By Jason - May 3 - 1:30 amI have had the car 6 months and have been very pleased with my purchase. Its traction and control are excellent. I really enjoy the extra power when I need it, since I do a lot of Interstate travel. I have been getting consistently around 28 MPG. The large trunk is very nice, because I can put my golf bag in it and still have plenty of room. All in all I would highly recommend it.
