For 2006, all vehicles in the Mazda 6 lineup have revised front and rear fascias, while sport package-equipped models get a new grille and side sill design. The optional automatic transmission on four-cylinder models is upgraded from a four-speed unit to a five-speed. Additionally, the V6 has been modified to improve exhaust emissions, resulting in 5 less horsepower (now 215). ABS and traction control are now standard on all i models, while all s models now come with an eight-way power driver seat, an alarm system and a standard side and side curtain airbags.
- More fun to drive than most family cars, slick-shifting manual transmission, smooth power delivery, nicely appointed interior, multiple body styles.

My Mazda6 - 2006 Mazda Mazda6
By Anthony - November 29 - 5:50 amIve only owned my Mazda6 for about a month. Drove from San Diego to Las Vegas for Thanksgiving and sat in traffic and still got excellent gas mileage. Cant wait to put an aftermarket intake and exhaust on it once they start making them for the 06 models. My, my what fun thatll be. Also, I love the fact that I can switch from automatic to auto/manual to get some more power if need be. Thanks Mazda for a well engineered and affordable Sport Sedan.

Best bang for the buck - 2006 Mazda Mazda6

I dont know how much Ford was involved with this car, but Ill say this. Look out Honda, Toyota, and Nissan. This car is quiet, smooth, feels solid, and well made. Did I mention a blast to drive? Ive always loved hondas and respected Toyotas. But these products by mazda is getting my attention. I have had some minor warrenty work after 20,000 miles. A damaged or defective exhaust shield. A bad sensor and a bad battery. Really little stuff. Things that can go wrong on the most high end vehicles. Not concerned. Plus, Im very abusive to cars, I drive hard!

By Buffalo Bob - August 25 - 8:33 pmMazda did an excellent job with the freshening of the 2006 Mazda6s sports package. Last years model had a cheaper quality interior and a 6 speed auto transmission that didnt shift too well. Mazda has issued a TSB for 2005 models engine hesitation. We drove the 05 and 06 models back to back. The 06 is much more responsive with no more throttle lag. The fuel economy appears to be better too. We have been averaging 24mpg with the V6. The 6s is like Mazda improved on all of the minor complaints of earlier model owners. We compared it to all of the other cars in its class and it fit our style perfectly. My daughter was looking for a new coupe, but bought herself a new Mazda6s after driving ours!

Great performance & Gas Mileage - 2006 Mazda Mazda6
By ponchojuan - May 10 - 8:33 pmI love this Mazda, and Im picky. It was cheap: $15,563 new. It is full size; Im 63" 240lb and I fit fine. It averages 31 miles per gallon. I dont know where they get 24; must be the turbo. It has everything you need, maybe not everything you want. You wont go wrong buying this car.

I was originally looking at the Mazda 3, but I actually bought the 6 for less money and got more options. Value-wise, I dont know any other sedan that can even touch this, and I test drove them all. Its comfortable, quiet, has excellent handling and braking, and its sexy! I love the sleek lines, both inside and out. This may be marketed as a family sedan, but I can see many singles loving this car, especially in the sportier versions. I have the automatic transmission, and love the option of being able to use manual when I need it. I cant say enough good things about this car!

By David - February 26 - 11:00 amThis car is a fantastic deal with all the incentives they were and are still offering due to the popularity of the Mazda 3. Unlike the 3 this car comes standard with ABS, T&S Control & EBD which are real safety musts recommended by most car experts; we also added the side curtain airbags. She chose titanium grey with and A/T and A/C as additional options. The net cost with everything was $500 more than this sites similarly equipped Mazda 3 "What others are paying" price. She loves the car, finds it easy to handle/park, plenty of power (previous car Acura Integra) and fun to drive, while averaging only 2 MPG less than the 3 model ratings but with 10 more HP and a lot more room.

I was looking for a car to keep and not keep trading every few years. I think I have found it in the Mazda6. I like the handling, equipment, styling, roominess. I have the 2.3l 5speed.

Cloth seats, sunroof, spoiler, 6 disc CD, power windows and seats, airbags all around, and all for $20,000 brand new. This thing eats up the road like nothing Ive ever driven before. I drive about 200 miles of rural, s-curves everyday and love every minute of it. Zoom, zoom is right on, but watch tire choices when you have to buy new. Suspension is so tight, tires sometimes cant keep up. Value X 10 for the cost. Stops on a dime! Half the price (and great financing options) of a BMW 3 series, but not nearly half the experience. This from someone who was driving a different car every two years, but I think Ive found THE ONE!

I bought it because it was a great value, fully loaded V6 for $13k and only 27,000 miles. The interior isnt as rich as the new model but it is certainly respectable and intuitive. There is storage aplenty and its just the right size. The exterior styling is great, and the ride is firm but not punishing with the 18 inch wheels. The only downside is a slightly notchy transmission at low speeds, but at highway speeds this is the best car ive driven. The Ford-sourced V6 is potent, and I get between 24 and 29 MPG, excellent for a V6.

Grand Sport - 2006 Mazda Mazda6
By dano100 - September 20 - 4:00 pmJust purchased 2 days ago after trading in an 06 Civic (that had many issues) and am extremely impressed with this car. It was a leftover 06 that I got for almost $9000 off. It is not the fastest in its segment but handles better than anything in its class. And I know about handling (previous cars: Toyota Supra, Nissan 300ZX, Miata, Honda S2000, an Acura CL and TL). I just cant get over how cheap the interiors are getting on most of the mainstream cars today. The quality of the materials Mazda still puts in the 6 is to be applauded. My only concern about this car is the durability of the engine, being a Ford block, but only time will tell. Right now at $9000 off this is the best car for the money.
