For 2006, all vehicles in the Mazda 6 lineup have revised front and rear fascias, while sport package-equipped models get a new grille and side sill design. The optional automatic transmission on four-cylinder models is upgraded from a four-speed unit to a five-speed. Additionally, the V6 has been modified to improve exhaust emissions, resulting in 5 less horsepower (now 215). ABS and traction control are now standard on all i models, while all s models now come with an eight-way power driver seat, an alarm system and a standard side and side curtain airbags.
- More fun to drive than most family cars, slick-shifting manual transmission, smooth power delivery, nicely appointed interior, multiple body styles.

Pretty good car - 2006 Mazda Mazda6
By Guy with a Mazda - October 12 - 11:23 amI got my 6 in Dec of 07, and it has served me very well. All of my driving has been in town, so the mileage kind of stinks. It drives great, its pretty quiet, and it gets me from A to B with no problems.

Decent car - 2006 Mazda Mazda6
By M6 - September 17 - 1:50 amI bought this car used and when I took it for a check up there were no problems after two years of use. There was slight battery corrosion after a few months but it was easy to fix. The interior is awful, there are so many cup holders but cups wont fit in most. There are also a lot of compartments that even a CD holder wont fit in. This car is great on the highway but guzzles gas in the city.

Quality Control not Mazdas top priority - 2006 Mazda Mazda6
By New Mazda owner - August 21 - 1:13 amI custom ordered my Mazda6 Grand Sport and waited 3 months for it to arrive at the dealership. When I first saw it it didnt have the right 17" wheels I requested (even the Mazda Brochure shows the car can be ordered with 17" wheels), the paint on the hood had very noticeable streaks and overspray, and one of the tail pipe tips was totally mounted out of whack with the correctly mounted one.

Great Sports Sedan - 2006 Mazda Mazda6

I wanted something sporting/fun to drive with great acceleration and handling, but needed 4 doors and room for 4 kids. In the Mazda6, I got a sweet revving V6 engine (Ford Duratec) with a manual transmission - a combo that is getting hard to find in a midsize sedan. Handling is great - flat cornering, quick steering and excellent braking. The ride is firm but not harsh. I still smile every time I get an open twisty road in front of me. Also has well laid-out interior, good size trunk, comfortable & supportive seats, great stereo, and looks great. I looked for a used one, but they hold their value so well I decided to buy a new one.

By Ty - July 26 - 10:10 pmIve owned my Mazda 6 for 10 months and Im very impressed with the performance, style and comfort. My only discomfort is that I didnt add the Navigation system, and the radio is built in (which prevents you from adding an aftermarket CD/Navigation system.

By medman13 - July 8 - 4:49 amI have owned this car now for about 1 yr. I bought this when i decided to go back to school. It has an overall great design to it and gives a professional look when needed as well as a sporty look when needed. It is reasonable on gas however lacks desired power. The stick is fun to drive and shifts quite well, however an automatic would have been a better choice as an everyday driver in town. The car is said to be the poor mans BMW and holds true to that in many facets.

Sporty.....but a letdown - 2006 Mazda Mazda6
By Kevin Kells - July 5 - 7:30 amI have owned the Mazda6 since March now and put over 9,000 miles on it so far. Its a nice, sporty looking sedan but It needs some improvements. The engine sounds nice but in terms of power, its lacking. At 215hp stock, i am getting smoked by Accords, Camrys and other sedans. The car handles good, but the turning radius is horrible and the suspension will rattle your teeth when the road is bumpy. Front interior is roomy, but rear is very small. Gauges look nice but the dark lettering and colors could be hard to read sometimes at night. Interior feels cheap too. Overall its a decent buy, but for the money you can spend $3-4k more and get a Passat or a SE Camry.

Fun to drive, but not fun to fix - 2006 Mazda Mazda6
By aperion05 - June 24 - 10:13 pmI got my Mazda 6 brand new a little over 2 years ago. I love this car. Its fast, handles great, comfortable, looks great, and I love the Bose stereo. Mazda has, however, really let me down. This car has been in the shop for warranty repairs six times! Ive had problems with the fuel pump, transmission, A/C and even the key fob. Im so torn. I love the car, and have unfortunately gotten to try others as rentals, but it is a huge hassle to keep getting repairs. When the warranty expires I dont know if Ill be able to afford such big repairs. Ive even met other people that had the same car and had the same problems. Overall, dont buy this year, and beware of other years.

Great Car - 2006 Mazda Mazda6
By DeSorbo24 - April 30 - 12:43 pmI just bought the car about three months ago with 55k on it. I drive over 300 mi three times a week on the highway. I opted for the 6 cyl with the 5 spd manual. Best decision ever the car is awesome to drive, great gas mileage out of a 6 cyl. Only thing wrong was a cam shaft bolt that was improperly installed from the manufacturer and Mazda replaced no problem no big deal at all. Car is fast, smooth, handling is crisp and tight just like a sports car. And the exterior with the Mazdaspeed rims couldnt ask for better car

Shifty - 2006 Mazda Mazda6
By YT Cai - April 21 - 7:03 pmThe Mazda6 is a well made car. It is tight, especially compared to the Malibu which was one of the loosest cars I test drove. Its still too early to tell, but Im not sure if I like the 6 speed automatic transmission. Not being a sports car person it seems a bit shifty from start to 5th gear which doesnt take long to get there. I wouldnt recommend it for circumstances where a "family car" is desired. The Sonata seemed a little more appropriate in the same price range.
