The 2003 Mazda6 S is a fun to drive stylish vehicle. It has plenty of power and is very fun to drive. I bought the S trim with the v6 engine and The interior is practical and well designed. It does have some reliability issues, but most owners should not have problems with it. It delivers a smooth ride. The factory sound system is lacking unless you upgrade to the bose package. I would recommend this car for those who want a sporty looking car that is roomy and comfortable. Mddy0 Mazda6

  • Family Sedan with a Soul.... - 2003 Mazda Mazda6

My Mazda 6 replaced a Volvo S60 which was stolen after less than two years of ownership (Took a big hit on depreciation and wasnt looking to pay that much again). Despite the $12K price difference, the Mazda compares quite favorably with the fancy European car and out performs it in the fun-to- drive department. If you enjoy driving and have been shopping Accords & Camrys, do yourself a favor and head to your Mazda dealer. Hondas and Toyotas are appliances...boring and souless!

Ive had my 6s for almost five years and 67000 mostly trouble free miles. I wont lie and say that I never had the car to the dealer for repairs. My warranty file is pretty thick. However, most of any of my original concerns with this car that were repaired under warranty never recurred. Being that I bought a first year car, I chalk that up to working out the bugs. This car has always been extremely fun to drive. Thats why I bought it. It will always bring a smile to your face when the corners begin to fill your windshield! Build quality is average. Reliability has been good. I will be passing this car down in eighteen months to my son who will be heading to college.

Performance, comfort and functionality are balanced nicely with the 6s. The interior/exterior are the most sporty and the price is very competitive for its class. Mazda service has been okay in trying to resolve issues. The dashboard makes an annoying noise as well as the sunroof "ticks or pops". I still need to take it to the dealer for the dashboard so I cant give a negative there but they cant pinpoint the sunroof noise. Brakes could be better but thats not just a Mazda problem, all manufacturers have brake issues. Throttle response was annoying but Mazda fixed it. 1st year of a new model but I got 0% financing so it was worth it. All cars have issues so overall Im happy.

I traded up my 93 Protege LX and purchased a 2003 Mazda6. I was sad to see my Protege go but I LOVE the 6. Mazda has come a long way in 10 years. I was very impressed all around. It drives great and is well equipped for the price! Its no BMW or anything but still in my opinion the best that Mazda offers.

  • A Faithful and Fun Car - 2003 Mazda Mazda6

I owned my Mazda 6 for almost 6 1/2 years before trading it this month. In all that time, the only mechanical problem I ever had with the car was a bad CV valve. I did however have several problems with interior quality, namely my hands wore holes through the leather coverings on the steering wheel and gear-shift knob. Talk about cheap. The headliner also started coming down after only 4 1/2 years. Finally, the pixels on the center console started fading out making it difficult to read. All that said, the car was very reliable and fun to drive. It handled very nimbly and dug into corners. Straight-line acceleration was lacking but it was a 4-cylinder. I would definitely buy it again.

  • Great handling, subpar build quality - 2003 Mazda Mazda6

I was very excited to get my 2003 6i automatic. I opted for the 4cyl. because I felt that it would save me on gas and intial purchase price. I have been upset at the gas mileage however never getting better than 24.5 hwy and 23 city. The design team did an awesome job with this car and the handling is great for the price range. Interior build quality is terribly cheap and unexpected on certain things. At 4,000 miles shift gate metal "look" trim has nicked and scratched. Worse the cloth front seats are already fraying and the drivers side has started a small tear on the drivers bottom cushion just from getting in and out. I have not contacted the dealer about this but intend to.

  • Worst-Car Ever Purchased - 2003 Mazda Mazda6

Purchased this Mazda brand new. In 4 years, Ive had the radiator replaced, hoses replaced twice, A/C replaced, two recalls,TCM (transmission control module) replaced, spark plug wires replaced, brakes still squeal after replacements, and worst of all was when my throttle body blew at 60mph and shutdown my electrical system as well leaving me to coast with no power. Ive complained to Mazda USA HQ and they did nothing when I requested a free extended warranty. I am now in the market for a new car and will never purchase a Mazda in my entire lifetime.

  • Fun to dirve - 2003 Mazda Mazda6

I bought it at the dealership without test driving since I rented one before while my day-to-day-driving Honda Pilot was at the shop for repair from a collision. I drove it down to LA from SF Bay Area and kinda like the automatic transmission that can also be in manual mode. By the way, the one that I bought was Mazda6 i SP for better gas mileage. I tend to get around 26 to 27 in city and hwy combined. Significant reviews from this site noted problems on brake and transmission and I kinda worry about it if mine starts with same problem like others. So far so good. Who knows.

If you care anything at all about the "fun part of driving", the 6 delivers. The steering feel, the springy suspension, the growl of the V6 (when pushed), all produce nothing but smiles. It is also so ever beautiful on the outside and tasteful on the inside. The car is a bit loud and feels somewhat less refined than Camry or Accord, but on the fun side of the equation it is way ahead. Also with Mazdas discounts our 6 was a bargain compared with similarly equipped Camry or Accord.
