This Year's Model Updates:

Although it maintains much of its chassis architecture, the 2010 Mazda 3 is otherwise an all-new car. Highlights include revised exterior styling, improved fuel economy and power, a more modern interior design and new luxury-oriented features.

Pros:
  • Athletic handling and performance, high-end interior, unparalleled available luxury features, available hatchback utility.
Cons:
  • Ride may be too firm for some, interior and trunk not as large as those of competitors.

  • perfect marriage of tech and performance - 2010 Mazda Mazda3

I have bought the car after reading all the positive reviews on Edmunds. I l-o-v-e the car. The bluetooth music streaming rocks. It paired up with my ipod in minutes, the palm centro works flawlessly with the hands free. After voice training I can speak to the system even with moderate road noise and get it to work. The drive is awesome. Zips through the Washington DC traffic with a true sports spirit. Although a bit sad to not being able to buy the manual shift (marital issue), the clutchless manual does the job right whenever I need the extra zoom zoom. Turns on a dime. The handling is better than German models. Still have my 04 jetta and love it. The 3 outperforms my jetta.

I was initially looking at the Mazda 6. The salesman at the dealership found out exactly what I was looking for in a vehicle and suggested the Mazda 3 instead. I test drove both and have to say the Mazda 3 was much more funner albeit smaller but for what I need it was perfect. I have had a BMW 3 series a few years back and I would have to say it handles just as well as that vehicle for half the price. Its got a lot of pep for a small engine and actually looks very nice. I am very happy with my purchase

Looked at civic, accord even charger. Do yourself a favor and drive the 3. The front end will grow on you. Rides like a Z. Im almost 40 and love aggressive ride and throttle response.

After 3 months of driving this car it feels even better now than before. One reason is the dealership overfilled the tires to nearly 50 lbs. Recommended pressure is 35. After realizing it, the ride became much smoother and less rough. Glad I checked it. Average mileage is around 27. Can probably do very good highway if you can stay at 60 but this car likes to move fast. The 2.0 liter engine has done well, very smooth, fairly quiet. Getting on a highway with a full load may require using the tiptronic manual shifting to open the engine a bit. Rear door access for adults is tricky but I bought this car for me. Ive got a 2009 Mazda 6 for carrying the family (thats a great car). Test drive it.

Great choice if you like to drive, feels like a premium car in most respects. The ride is firm but still comfortable, and the steering is very precise and well weighted. I love the 6sp manual, but I wish 6th gear was a little longer for better highway fuel economy. Power from the 2.5 is good (certainly much better than in most other compacts), but the engine may be the one point where the 3 does not fully live up to the premium image. If pushed, it sounds a bit coarse at times and other engines of the same size get more power and better fuel economy. The interior is great with many luxury features not expected in this class. Overall a very European driving experience. Highly recommended!

  • Great performance and surprising comfort - 2010 Mazda Mazda3

I work out of my car so I wanted something that was comfortable and had good cargo room, but was also fun to drive. Looked at the Matrix and Impreza, but they felt cheap compared to the Mazda. Plenty of room in the hatchback with the seats down for all my cargo. The interior is really comfortable, I can spend all day in and out of the car and still feel great. My drive is 70% city 30% highway and with a light foot, Im averaging about 27 mpg. It takes discipline though as the car is so much fun to drive fast. Its smooth on the highway, a blast in the curves, and nimble in parking lots. On a rough road there is some road noise, but no more then my 2007 Accord had. I love this car!

Fantastic small car and very fun to drive. Quality is outstanding and features are great for the price. Interior is comparable to many more upscale vehicles. I put on mostly highway miles and average right at 30mpg (S Sport). Back seat is pretty tight but thats expected with this size car. Stick shift is very easy to learn and fun to drive

  • I love this car! - 2010 Mazda Mazda3

I have 2007 Subaru Impreza special edition now, and my lease is almost over, so its time to by a new car. I compared the Mazda3 hatch to the 2010 Subaru Impreza 5-door. The Subarus style didnt impress me. I got a Mazda3 with everything I could ever ask for. I can say the Mazda handles even better them my 07 Subaru. The 3s engine is monstrously powerful, making it an absolute joy to drive. It has a tight turning radius, is a pleasure to drive and I dont notice any excessive road noise. I have this car for 2 month and I love it. Highly recommended!

This is the first mazda that Ive ever driven in my life and Im never going back. I have an automatic and this car is still so fun to drive. The great thing about this car is that its both sporty and comfortable. I drive my sisters BMW 3 series all the time and I actually like my ride a whole lot better. You can really feel the torque when you gas it...so it makes it feel faster than what it is. The interior of the car is very pleasing. The front seats are comfortable enough to go on road trips. The back seats not so much but then again I never have to sit back there! Ive had this car for almost 4 months and over 5000 miles and I still look forward to driving it every day.

I bought this car after driving a 99 Chevy Cavalier with over 200,000 miles that I constantly find myself sinking money into for repairs. I wasnt sure about the Mazda Sport until I drove the car. The car is fun, easy on the highway, awesome on gas, smooth and a comfortable ride. I love to zoom, zoom and switch it from a standard shift to a manual when I am on the interstate. I am enjoying it immensely.
