This Year's Model Updates:

For 2003, power sliding doors are an option for both the LX and ES trim levels. A towing package and a cargo organizer are two other new options. Also, an alarm and engine immobilizer are now part of a security package, and a cassette player is available on the ES trim level. The LX trim now rides on 16-inch wheels. Inside, floor and cargo mats are now standard on both trim levels, while outside, you'll see a new exhaust tip.

Pros:
  • Compact and maneuverable, confident handling manners, roll-down windows in the sliding doors.
Cons:
  • Limited maximum cargo capacity, lacks some features found in the other minivans.

  • Great van - 2003 Mazda MPV

We went from a larger minivan to the MPV and we love it. It handles extremely well, has a lot of pep and is very reliable (a standard 3 yr, 50,000 mile warranty)The cargo room is decieving because the place where the bench seat folds into holds a lot of cargo. We can actually fit more in this van than in our old one because of this well. The rear seat is also larger than it looks and our kids have never complained about the room. You cannot beat this van compared to others on the market. Mazda has excellent customer service and they back up their product. Dont let the size fool you. You wont be dissapointed with the van.

I compared this van with their equivalent in Nissan and Toyota, and it has better design, and the price is lower. More features than Dodge Grand Caravan. Its an amazing car!

Ive owned my 2002 MPV for 4 months and love it. I considered every minivan and ended up with the MPV for its sporty look, feel and drive, considering its a minivan. Its smaller and easier to maneuver for my wife and handles better than any minivan out there.

  • A great Minvan - 2003 Mazda MPV

We owned a Chrysler T&C LX (2000) before buying this 03 Mazda MPV. The Chrysler was a POS, and time will tell with the Mazda, but it seems like a great decision to purchase this. The Mazda really does drive more like a car than a van - so much better acceleration, brakes, handling, and steering than the Chrysler- very solid and impressive. The backseat is not meant for adults to sit in for long (not enough leg support), but it is great for kids, and folds into the floor. The middle seats slide together or stay apart as quads. Its worth the test drive - I didnt think wed have a chance of buying it, but looking at it and an driving convinced me.

It is fun safe, and spaces the kids out well to eliminate fighting! Manuvers great, love the looks, upohlstery is like a luxury car! I had Toyotas for a long time, and they kept getting cheaper, and breaking. So glad I investigated vans on this site and others for 6 months, and choose this one. The paint doesnt come off from bugs like all the Toyotas, and the ride is smooth

VERY HAPPY WITH THIS VEHICLE-TRADED IN A 99 WINDSTAR WHICH WAS NOTHING BUT PROBLEM AFTER PROBLEM. SO FAR AFTER 18,000 MILES HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS AND EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH THE HANDLING, FIT AND FINISH AND OVERAL RELIABILITY AND GENERAL BUILD QUALITY. WOULD DEFINATELY RECOMMEND THIS VAN AND WOULD NEVER PURCHASE A FORD PRODUCT AGAIN!!!!!

Have had the MPV ES for two months, love it - handles well, great features and well built

  • fun to drive - 2003 Mazda MPV

Have enjoyed this van. Have gone from a short wheel-based Aerostar to extended Aerostar to Grand Caravan during the past 16 years, and this is by far the most fun to drive. Am a little concerned with the transmission, it shifts harshly when cold, and gas mileage, which has not been stellar (but better than my other vans). The power and handling have been intoxicating for this type of vehicle. And I enjoy the flat-folding rear seat.

  • Well designed compact minivan - 2003 Mazda MPV

Weve owned the MPV for just over two months and its been great. Very quiet on the inside, you can just about hear the horn. Love the third row seat and the sliding door roll down windows are especially popular with my kids. The well for the third row seat holds grocery bags excellently well. Fit and finish are excellent. The ride is relatively sporty - not in the league of my Ford Contour with its wide tires and stiff suspension - but there is noticable body roll in turns. The interior is quite ergonomic except for the fact that the column shifter partly hides the volume control and sometimes I have tried to "shift" the turn signal lever.

Excellent car for the price you pay. Very smooth and quit when running. Own it for 10 month and not regret for buying. I think it is best among minivans. Strongly suggest it.
