  • My favorite little SUV - 2007 Mazda CX-7

I test drove many automatic cars and SUVs (including the Nissan Murano) with V6 engines and so far the CX7 had the best acceleration (like a car with a manual stick shift). The exterior looks great very similar to the Lexus. This car works well for a family of three, or four at the most due to the limited cargo space when traveling. I had a couple of flat tires but could have been bad luck also. Otherwise runs smoothly with no serious problems. Great buy for this price except for gas mileage!

  • 2 issues over the last 7 years - 2007 Mazda CX-7

I bought my CX-7 new. Only issues have been the check engine light (faulty gas cap from Mazda. The cap wasnt creating a proper seal), and now at 74,563 miles later the turbo is leaking oil (reported issue with the CX-7). Lucky for me I bought the extended warranty for up to 75,000. Its in the shop right now and feel lucky! But other than those two problems, I really like the car. Nice design and value for the price. I have the CX-7 Touring fully loaded.

  • Part everything - 2007 Mazda CX-7

Searched for a car for years. A lot of small SUV types out there the lately, but most such as the CR-V, RAV-4, Forester dont appeal to me. This one is part SUV, part wagon, and yes, part sports car. A little quirky but a good fit for a single Northwest man with plenty of outdoor places to go. Mileage is 17-19 city and best has been 22-23 on highway trips. Get the AWD, got a chance to test in the snow right away and there is nothing like it.

Originally looking for a sedan but just couldnt could something that was fun to drive. Starting looking seriously at Nissan Murano and CX-7. The CX-7 was lower cost and more fun.

  • First Model Defect to Arise! - 2007 Mazda CX-7
    By -

I have been a very happy motorist for the first 60,000 miles put on my Mazda CX-7. This is my third review for this car. My car averages between 19-21 mpg. I do lots of highway traveling and I usually travel 200+ mile trips. My OEM tires lasted for 28,000. My second set of tires (not factory but dealer recommended and cheaper) will probably be replaced at 80,000. Until 60,000 I had absolutely no issues with this car. About 60,000 the fuel sensor started coming up. I have identified I trigger this failure when stepping on the gas during exit ramp to highway acceleration events. There have been three such sensor failures, seems to be a recurring defect.

I was going to purchase a HOnda CR-V, but on the way to the Honda dealership I decided to take the CX-7 for a spin and fell in love.

  • CX7 Turbo compression - 2007 Mazda CX-7
    By -

On my 2007 cx7, Mazda warranty replaced vvt & timing chain that was grinding during start-up. While replacing, the mech found the intake cam way out of phase & called Mazda Canada tech line for approval to correct. Mazda tech line asked for compression after vvt & timing chain replaced. Dealer Mech found #1 at 70/170; #2-40/100; #3-60/140; #4-30/80. Mazda Canada tech said this is ok and to send me home, happy that they replaced the timing chain. My Mazda Dealer told me they would recommend doing the required repairs but because Im requesting warranty to cover it because its a result of the timing chain. I called Mazda Canada & they told me to go back to my Service Manager to fix? Help!

  • Great Looks Poor Quality - 2007 Mazda CX-7
    By -

Gas cap wont stay tight. Hot air blows in through vents forcing me to use a/c all the time. Bad odor like burned rubber and oil. Car had smoke coming from front end at 1k miles but dealership cant find any problem and says all is fine. Gas mileage was okay at first now getting only 14 MPG and I dont have a lead foot. Serious trouble.
