The Sorento is an all-new SUV from Kia. Larger and more powerful than the pint-size Sportage (which is expected to return for 2004 after a 2003 hiatus, by the way), the Sorento straddles the emerging middle ground between small SUVs and midsize SUVs. And it does so while offering interested buyers true off-road ability. Key competitors are the Ford Escape, the Honda CR-V, the Jeep Liberty, the Nissan Xterra and the Toyota Highlander.

  My First SUV - 2003 Kia Sorento

  Was driving a Ford Escort and wanted something with power and attitude when driving rush hour on highway. Got both with a lot of fun to boot! Now I just nod my head as Im passin the other big boys. I was surprised at comfort in the back and space it gave my passengers and family. The front has plenty of leg space without taking any from the back from what I can see. Overall, I love it and drive every chance I get.

  I checking the SUVs that are affordable for me and also are comparable to expensive SUVs, since one year. Came across KIA Sorento. As it was KIA so I wasnt sure whether it is I should buy it or not. Started to read its reviews, and found that everyone is saying it is a great SUV. Finally I decided and got one last month. I really like this SUV.

  I would buy this SUV again in a heart beat. I purposly bought the factor model, no extras and have been satisfied completely.

  Looks like a Lexus RX300...priced like a Hyundai. Great price, great looks, not great gas mileage. Back seat ride is bumpy. Storage space limited. Knowing all this, would probably buy it again because of the price.

  We bought the sorento after looking at the Nissan Xterra, Honda CRV and Toyota Rav4. A big plus for us was the exterior body style. I was also very SUPRISED with the performance and the fit and finish of the interior. I never dreamed i would purchase a KIA for anything other than a work car. The warranty is icing on the cake.

  We got into an accident the day of purchase. The Sorento took the rear end hit well. The passengers were not harmed by a vehicle traveling 50+. Very impressed at the strength of the vehicle.

  I had an extended size van, so I am having trouble getting use to the smaller space, but love the way it handles like a car. Looks almost like a Lexus. Sharp looking.

  Great Engineering - 2003 Kia Sorento

  KIA has their engineering down pat. I had no problems until after 100,000 miles and then the car seemed to start coming apart. First the windshield wiper control arm came apart then several of the sensors quit working and lastly the bolt on the harmonic balancer sheared causing me to get a new engine. I love the way the car drives but the reliability stinks.

  Purchased my beautiful 2003 Sorento EX Alpine Gray, side rails & pinstrip on 9-26-2003. Love everything about it accept that it has been in the shop three times 10-7-2003, Check Emissions Light -10-15-2003 Check Emissions Light - couldnt find a problem 10-21-2003, Check Emissions Light. They are replacing the thermostat now. I have the sinking feeling that I bought a lemon. Plus, the customer service at the shop sucks, which I have since reported to Kia Consumer Care. Otherwise, the performance of vehicle, the ride, look, everything is great. Contacted an attorney today to discuss the matter. It will get resolved one way or another.
