This Year's Model Updates:

Minor upgrades are in store for the Sedona in its second year on the market. On the outside, buyers will find new taillights, and in the cabin, you'll note a new audio faceplate and a remote fuel-door release. The LX model gets a CD player, while the EX now comes with two keyless remotes, as well as additional leather on the armrests and lower portions of the seats. A trailer hitch is now available for all Sedonas.

Pros:
  • Excellent value, lots of cupholders and storage bins, solid build quality, good crash test scores, lengthy warranty coverage.
Cons:
  • Hefty curb weight, below-average gas mileage, missing a few key minivan features, potentially expensive to repair in minor collisions.

MY 2002 KIA SEDONA PLEASES ME NO END,AS I PLAN TO KEEP IT A LONG TIME THE DEPRECIATION IS OF NO VALUE. ITS WELL CONSTRUCTED AS PROVEN BY ITS WEIGHT 4709 LBS. IVE HAD IT FOR A YEAR AND AM WELL PLEASED WITH ITS QUALITIES AND HAVE NO PROBLEMS WITH IT,BOTH THE DEALER AND MECHANICLY.IT HAS ALL THE OPTIONS OF THE OTHER VANS BUT IS THOUSANDS* CHEEPER.

Very smooth riding van. You get tons of extras for a reasonable price. The gas milage could be a little better, but its worth it. Great Van.

  • Never Again - 2003 Kia Sedona

1st two months of ownership van was in dealers shop 4 times. Right window would stick midway up. One lube, two motors, one passenger side switch replaced. Next bubbling in paint under side windows and rust under rear logo. At 2 years 3 months and 28000 miles the alternator failed and battery died. Two weeks later going on a trip van overheated and left us stranded on side of road. Towed to dealer and they claimed upper radiator hose clamp came loose and hose came off? Poor quality control and workmanship. Never again.

We have owned our Sedona for 1.5 years and came very close to the Honda Odyssey but in the end went with what would suit our budget best. The van has been reliable and easily fits adults and carseats without crowding. We have had to use the warranty a few times and had to shop for a dealership/service dept who would accomodate the repairs without hassle. If you have time for the occassional repair of a power seat or heater fan then it is well worth the extra effort for the extra savings.

  • So far so good - 2003 Kia Sedona

I have only had this van since May. So far its good. I am very unhappy with the gas mileage. I love the rest!!! It is our first minivan so I might not be helpful. I love it though. I love driving it. It is so easy to get a 3 yr. old and newborn in. I now have plenty of room for a double stroller after having a Kia Spectra previously.

  • What a Wonderful Vehicle, K, K, KIA!! - 2003 Kia Sedona

All I can say is KIA! This is a WONDERFUL vehicle & I cant say enough about it. This minivan is loaded & when U add features, nothing else even comes CLOSE to KIA on price, affordability and quality. Other comparably equipped vehicles are $3000 to $7000 more. I previously owned a 2002 KIA Rio Cinco which I simply adored & traded in for the Sedona. Just to show Kias quality, I had 40,000 miles on my Cinco & all I ever did was change the oil. THATS IT! The new 2003 Rio Cincos have all the features that the 2002 model lacked. What a GREAT vehicle. I used to be Mitsu proud but now I am ALL KIA! For price, quality and overall value you cant beat KIA!

  • I Like This Van! - 2003 Kia Sedona

We bought our 2003 Kia Sedona last year. The previous owners (original owners) hardly drove it. The van only had 75K miles on it. We have put on 26K in one year! The car has been great for us. Its been all over the place because my husband travels a lot for work. It gets good highway gas mileage. We live in a rural area so it isnt so great for going from town to town. We havent had any major issues at all. We are taking it in for general maintenance expected at 100K. Plugs, wires, etc. because it is running rough, but with the way we drive thats to be expected. I love the V6 - it really goes! I love this mini-van!

we have had our Sedona now for 12 months...while many relatives looked at us cross eyed when we told them we bought a Kia, we decided (based on the price) to take a chance...it was a good call...we have only had one problem (the front cup holder) other than that it has been entirely reliable, easy to drive, very functional!!! we have the scaled down LX (no leather, no CD, etc) but it was money well saved...the dealer required maintenance has also been economical, fast, and friendly...no complaints thus far...if you need to seat a car pool and dont want to have to pay through the nose to do it, this van is a great choice!
