This Year's Model Updates:

Minor upgrades are in store for the Sedona in its second year on the market. On the outside, buyers will find new taillights, and in the cabin, you'll note a new audio faceplate and a remote fuel-door release. The LX model gets a CD player, while the EX now comes with two keyless remotes, as well as additional leather on the armrests and lower portions of the seats. A trailer hitch is now available for all Sedonas.

Pros:
  • Excellent value, lots of cupholders and storage bins, solid build quality, good crash test scores, lengthy warranty coverage.
Cons:
  • Hefty curb weight, below-average gas mileage, missing a few key minivan features, potentially expensive to repair in minor collisions.

  • Good So Far - 2003 Kia Sedona

Only 7800 miles on my van. Comfortable/feels solid. Steering pulls to right. Van struggles to stop due to heavy vehicle weight. I dont have ABS. Engine makes "whirring" noise...Kia mechanic said "its normal...power steering making that noise"...it is annoying, especially when vehicle is cold. Van handles good in bad weather. Removeable seats are heavy. Lots of interior room. Interior plastic scratches easily. Roof rack is cheap/weak. Hopefully this van will pass the test of time (build quality). Overall, this van performs as advertised and it appears to be the best minivan value for the dollar.

Gas mileage is horrible. The controls above the dashboard have no illumination at night so are hard to see. You dont know if you are opening the sunroof or the rear side window. The seats are removable but are extremely heavy to take in or out. I as a female could easily remove the seats in our previous Pontiac Transport, but cannot do it alone or at all with the Kia.

After several trips to different dealers we finally bought a Sedona. With only 300 miles on the vehicle it is a joy to drive. Weve had several other mini vans, and so far this is the only one I cant wait to get in to drive.

At nearly half the cost of mini vans this one rocks! At 6000 miles not a trip to the shop...

  • Great van & Great value - 2003 Kia Sedona

Tried several minivans and I liked the Sedona EX the best. I fit well in it at 66". You get a lot for your money in comparison to Honda or Toyota or a domestic. I was really surprised at the quality of the interior and the general fit of the van. Good stero the EX is well worth the extra $. The HP may scare you off but there is good acceleration with over 210 pounds of torque

Kia dealers were great, no hassle, right to the point. Service is fast, and done properly. Treated the way most buyers dream of being treated after making such a major purchase.

This last October, we bought a Kia Sedona in place of our totaled 02 Rio Cinco. We wanted something a little easier to get in and out of, so we chose this van. It is a great van, smooth riding, good visibility. The gas mileage is moderate, we have gotten 17 mpg, every time with city highway mix. But we did get 13 mpg once. But that is when winter attacked and we let the van warm up for about 15 min every morn. Plus there was no highway on that tank of gas. There is one thing that we need to get fixed, and the dealership cant seem to figure out what it is. There is a weird fan spirt noise every once and a while and it revved up. Only happens in about 40 - 70 mph. It is a mystery noise.

  • 2 Engines and Counting - 2003 Kia Sedona

I have had more troubles with this vehicle than with all other vehicles combined. I had the rear seals and the head gasket on the first engine replaced at 17K, the engine replaced at 22K. (it leaked oil again) The gaskets replaced on the second engine at 28K and guess what it leaks again at 37K. This is not to mention the starter, alternator, fuel sending unit, the door handle that broke, and the fog light that was half full of water. (All replaced or repaired under warranty) The tires were very poor and were replaced at 20K and the breaks are almost shot. If you include the poor gas mileage, it was one heck of a value.

  • Good Choice in a Minivan - 2003 Kia Sedona

I have had my Sedona EX for 3 years. There have been some superficial problems with the seats (plastic molding, squeaking) but the Kia warranty covered the repair of everything. The interior is comfortable and attractive with a sturdy seat fabric that has resisted any staining. The ride is fairly smooth, but road noise is a bit too pronounced. There is ample storage in the multiple compartments. I am at 43,000 miles and have not had any mechanical problems whatsoever. The turning radius is wide which can be problematic when making a U turn. But, I would still recommend the Sedona as a good value for a fair price.

Great vehicle. Drives well in snow. However, had problems with remote unlocking doors easily, bearings wore out quickly, and handles on sliding doors have failed to work on occasion.
