This Year's Model Updates:

The Kia Optima receives only minor revisions for the 2004 model year. The grille has been revised, 16-inch wheels are now standard on V6 models and the alloy wheels on the EX (last year's SE) have been redesigned. Finally, an in-glass antenna replaces the old power mast style unit from last year, but only on the EX and the LX with the optional cassette/CD audio system.

Pros:
  • Excellent warranty, pleasant highway ride, lots of features for the price.
Cons:

  • Underrated - 2004 Kia Optima

This KIA is very comfortable and has plenty enough power to get anyone into trouble. It has all the bells and whistles of much more expensive cars. This is the Honda of the future. Remember when people laughed at Hondas when they first got here? The Japanese need to be looking over their shoulders.

After dealer discounts and Kia incentives I drove off in an automobile with power everything for under $15,000. The Pearl White paint alone is turning heads, not to mention the futuristically designed interior. I would have paid over $20,000 for this much car from another manufacturer. Thanks, Kia.

  • Very Reliable, Fun to Drive Car - 2004 Kia Optima

I was hesitant about buying a Kia, I had originally wanted an Accord but I needed a more affordable car. I have to say this car has changed my opinion of Kia - its been very reliable in the nearly 2 years I have owned it. I purchased the car with 56K and now have nearly 78K on the odometer. I consider this car a lot of fun to drive because my previous car was a 1994 Buick Century! I think if you keep up to date with maintenance (and dont get stuck with a lemon like some people on here must have) then you will have a great car on your hands.

  • Im a KIA lover now! - 2004 Kia Optima

My car just hit 68,000, besides a few dings (by others!) I have had no problems, just the rotors replaced. This has been a dependable family car, I drive 20 miles to work everyday through snow, ice, rain, and nice days without a problem. I am a very nervous person on the road in the Winter and this car has been great to me! Starting to make some rattles, and steering shake, I am praying this wont be a problem. I hear after 40-50,000 KIAS are having problems. Anybody out there have any as of yet with this year?

Love it! Looks great, drive great, and there is enough room for my twins in the back seat.

  • I love this car - 2004 Kia Optima

I love everything about the Optima EX. Ive had a Mercedes 190D in the 70s and a BMW 7series in the 80s and wouldnt trade the Optima for either one. I traded a 2003 Spectra for this Optima and had absolutely NO TROUBLE with it. Kia is a great company and builds EXCELLENT, FAIRLY PRICED cars--- Its a shame America and Japan cant take note of this.

I have owned my KIA since 12/31/03 have not had a single problem with it. It rides well, is comfortable and looks more expensive. The fit and finish is as good as anything out of Japan. I dont know what some of the reviewers were talking about when it comes to wind noise. My Optima is very quiet. There are few things they could do to improve the car, but it is very nice as is. My car was loaded with all but leather and the sticker was $22.035. That is a lot of car for the money.

  • Kia Optima- Not given enough credit - 2004 Kia Optima

Bought it for the price but fell in love with the overall quality, design and comfort of the vehicle. Trunk is large enough for a big day at the grocery for a family of five. Leather interior exceeded my expectations for quality. Performance of the V-6 is surprising good, will maintain interstate speed with cruise on with out a problem. Auto-stick shift works flawlessly. This car needs to be given more credit.

  • My 2002 Kia - 2004 Kia Optima

I bought my Kia Optima in August 2002. It is the best car I ever owned. I have had no problems. I turned in a Cadillac DeVille 1998 lease car before getting my Kia. The ride in the Kia is comparable to the Cadillac. I am a retired automotive engineer. The fit and finish on the Kia is the best I have ever seen, bar none. I am 62" and I find this car very comfortable for me.
