This Year's Model Updates:

The 2003 Jeep Wrangler gets a new trim level: the Rubicon. All trims have been bestowed with an all-new 42RLE four-speed automatic transmission which is supposed to provide smoother-shifting, better highway fuel efficiency and quieter engine operation at highway speeds compared to the previous three-speed automatic transmission. The SE trim gets a new NV1500 five-speed heavy-duty tranny, which promises to improve shift quality in cold weather, along with a new, more potent 2.4-liter Power Tech inline-four. Available four-wheel disc brakes debut this year, along with a new fold-and-tumble rear seat that can be more easily removed. Finally, the Wrangler's interior has been refurbished for 2003; it gets new front and rear seats, a new electrochromatic rearview mirror with map lights, temperature and compass display (standard on Sahara, optional on Sport and Rubicon trims), and a new four-spoke steering wheel.

Pros:
  • Cheap, fun to drive, classic styling, go-anywhere capability.
Cons:
  • Soft top a handful to manipulate, difficult ingress-egress, slow steering.

  • Only in a Jeep - 2003 Jeep Wrangler

This is the first Jeep I have ever owned, and I cant believe I have never had one before now. The slogan, "only in a Jeep" is so true. I have been places in my factory Jeep that I would have never dreamed to take a vehicle. I love this thing. No issues with this at all.

Growing up around Jeeps I have always loved them. I didnt care for the first models of Jeep Wranglers (square headlights) but the newer ones are awsome. Mine isnt for offroading so I cant say how well it does off road but every review says the do really well. I read one review where it hung with a Hummer. I probably will own a jeep for the rest of my life.

I love this Jeep, it is quiet possible the most capable "out of the box" trail vehicle you can buy, and there are many aftermarket accessories available to make it even better. I would recommend it to anyone who actually uses there Jeep off-road.

I love my Jeep Wrangler. I love the feel of driving it along with just being in it. It gives you a sense of power because you can sit above the rest of the traffic. I have modified mine to fit 36" tires with 6.5 inches of lift. It works wonders offroad.

I have had this Jeep for a week now and I must say that it is the best Vehicle that I have owned. The 2.4l 4 cylinder is much more powerful then the 2.5l of older models. Ride is a little stiff, but what can you expect it is a Wrangler after all. I have taken it out on the trails once already and it rode nice. Cant wait for the lift kit and bigger tires.

I bought the Jeep back in January of 2007. It was not to a few little dings and soft top. I got it in Georgia and I dorve it to North Carolina and latter to Colorado. The thing gets about 18 to 20 mpg on the highway and 15 in town. Right now it has about 90,000 miles on it. The only problem I have had is the trakbar on the front axle. I have had to replace it twice but it happened within 5000 miles of each time it went out and the dealer replaced it free of charge the second time. The stock front bumper is a piece of junk also. I got a tube bumper that looks great and I am going to drive it back to North Carolina when I get back from my deployment.

We have owned 3 Wranglers, and 15 other Jeeps. This one is great in the sunshine and the snow, and can be loads of fun. That said, I must say that the gas mileage is horrible (10-13mpg around town); that as soon as it rains its all over the road; and that the paint quality is the worst I have ever seen on any vehicle, including late 80s GMs. My jeep is babied (hand washed, waxed, etc.), and the paint is still peeling off. Our two grand Cherokees purchased around the same time do not share this problem, so this is something exclusive to Wranglers. Yes, its a lot of fun, but I wish that Chrysler would have made the Wrangler with more love!

Bought the Wrangler brand new in 03 and have never, ever changed anything on it. Seriously, since driving it off the lot, it has not been back to the dealer. Even still has original brakes. I did change out the tires for 38" last year. Great reliability!

OK, to be fair, I have to mention that I just got the Jeep yesterday. I have yet to drive with the top down, but I plan on doing so tonight after work. I gave up my 93 F-250 with a 460 and my 99 Mustang GT for this. I had this urge to get a Wrangler and I dont know why. After acquiring one, Im glad I did! Im anxious to try it out around my work in the dirt. (Our buildings are surrounded by dirt and up against the side of a hill.) Im so glad that Jeep made the "X" trim for folks like me who want the bigger motor without gouging the wallet.

  • The best vehicle ever! - 2003 Jeep Wrangler

Obviously, you buy a Jeep because there is no alternative. No other SUV can match the fun factor that comes with the Jeep Wrangler. Removing the top, part time 4WD, the cool headlights... Not to mention that it can go anywhere. AND, you get to wave at every other person on earth that knows what you know when you drive by them in their Jeep.
