Runs great and fun to drive. However, pulls to the side when hitting a bump or pothole. Very bad in snow. In snow and sleet, drives like a rear wheel drive or does not go at all. great summer time car. fast and sporty!

  • 12 years no trouble - then sudden death - 2000 Hyundai Tiburon

I bought my 2000 Tiburon April 2000. It was my first brand new car. All I did was oil changes and gas and go for 12 years and had few problems with it until it died. The car looks fast and is fast enough to pass and get plenty of tickets but will not win any races so dont try. It has been a good car for the most part. The timing belt wore out. Now they tell me its gonna cost at least $4400 to fix it.

love the car, I brought it two months ago from Melbourne (2014) it only has 150,000kms on the clock. I had to fix the passenger window which cost me nothing, just some time as well as a cracked manifold which we ordered a new one for $150 and some time to fix the windshield wiper switch (stalk), the car came with a new windshield and battery but will need a/c re gassing ($200) it is super comfy and I highly recommend getting one P.S I got it for $1,600AUD

Overall i like the car. I like the bubble look on the outside. The headlights need replaced all the time, the battery had to be replaced at 30k, and the transmission had to be replaced at 55k.

  • STAY AWAY !!!!! - 2000 Hyundai Tiburon

I purchased my car brand new from the dealer in aug 2000. Everything was great I loved the car until it was about 4 yrs old. (I still have to this day) since then I have had 3 transmissions replaced, many tail light wires and brackets (they keep blowing all the time sometimes even 15 min after replacing) speed sensor went on it. The check engine light kept coming on after countless times, the dealer couldnt even fix it but my boyfriend actually fixed it in under 10 min. The very next time it was in the shop the dealer ripped my o2 sensor wires out and my car has been horrible since (they still deny they did it too) horrible service from dealer would never buy a Hyundai again stay far away!

  • Great Car (When it Runs) - 2000 Hyundai Tiburon

Very nice, sexy looking car inside and out. Pretty good power for a little beast, with good gas mileage to boot. Nice sound system (compared to the vehicle I was driving before). Unfortunately thats about all I have to say in the positive. Around 90,000 miles this thing started to take a turn for the worse. I replaced the transmission (under warranty). It took a month to do the repairs. 6 months later, another transmission (warranty). 4 months after that, another transmission ($2400). 2 months after that, an engine ($3600). Now it needs suspension work, brake work, and electrical work ($1500).

This car is fun to drive and cheap to buy. I hope this car will last long past the warranty. Over the past three years I have found this car to be reliable, responsive, and believe it or not a head turner. The four cyl. is a little under powered but they fixed that in 2003 with the avail. 6 cyl. The body style is a classic in my opinion.

Well Ive had this car for 2 1/2 years now. It is still going good. Lots of rattles and problems with dealerships in Canada. Ive had a few problems with cracked door panels bad spark plugs and o2 sensors. But I havent had much mechanical problems. Squeaks and rattles a plenty, actually the car has squeaked from the second I drove it off the lot. It doesnt seem to like the cold of Canada though, the engine idles really rough, the brakes bong and clank and there is lots of squeak in the clutch in the cold. Eveything goes away in the summer months though. I wouldnt buy another one even after the mechanical stability as I find the fit and finish to be sub par.

  • Heed my warning! I love this car, but... - 2000 Hyundai Tiburon

I love this car; the style, the way it sits on the road, handles the corners. Unfortunately for me I found out after the fact that Hyundai has some major transmission problems. I bought it at 33,000 miles as the 2nd owner and had a 60,000m warranty. The tranmission started acting up not too long after; losing 1st gear, not shifting out of 2nd gear unless you shut the car off. Hyundai said they couldnt find a thing wrong, until my warranty expired. Less than 2,000 later, they tell me I need a new tranmission. To the tune of $1,700. Now, just 1 1/2yrs, Im getting rid of it b/c its doing the same exact thing it did before the rebuild. Love the car but, please learn from my bad experience.

  • Very Reliable - 2000 Hyundai Tiburon

At 3 years this car has proven to be extremely reliable with excellent fuel economy. With 2 years of bumper to bumper coverage and roadside assistance, and 7 years of powertrain coverage left I feel I made an excellent choice.
