Electrical problems- warranty ignored - 2000 Hyundai Tiburon
By Adriane - January 25 - 8:23 amThis car had persistent electrical problems, and the dealership was dishonest about the cause of them. The car would power surge and burned out 12 headlights, 2 radios, and 3 new batteries. The dealership replaced the individual parts per warranty, but would not investigate the underlying cause. Then, when it was humid, the car would not start. Once the 5-year warranty expired I took it to a non- hyundai mechanic (and my electrical engineer father), and they immediately identified the problem. The specs in the factory for the plating in the electrical system were off, and the connectors would vibrate loose (as evidenced by corrosion) which would cause arcs and surges. I had the car 6 years.

2000 tiburon the real review - 2000 Hyundai Tiburon
By brads3111 - January 14 - 11:36 pmOk little car. It will be the last hyundai i buy. Problems with it. every 60,000 you must replace the altenator. It causes powersurges and blows headlights. ive had three wheel bearings go out. I baby my car and have nothing but problems. it over heats even though i have changed my radiator, thermostat and water pump, and i change my fluid every year. It rattles like crazy.. Dont get one. i do have 160,00 on it

Please Consider.... - 2000 Hyundai Tiburon
By Monica - December 19 - 9:00 pmI honestly love the car, how it drives, has awesome a/c, and just a fun car, but it has some major issues. Ive read through these reviews and see that people are constantly replacing headlights, which I found myself doing the same. People with wiring problems, which Ive had. Ive spent WAY too much trying to fix a problem with my car not starting. It turns over only when it wants to. Ive replaced the relay wire to the fuel pump, which worked for a while, but now the car is only starting when it feels like it. Ive replaced the battery, ignition coil, relay wires. The interior dome lights quit working, and for a long time, my only headlights were my brights since the headlights wouldnt work

Some Quirky problems - 2000 Hyundai Tiburon
By Dawn766 - June 27 - 10:13 pmI loved my Tiburon. Well, aside from a few quirky problems. There are some electrical issues, I have blown many head lights. I also have problems with Oxygen sensors in the exhaust system.I have had to have 4 sensors replaced in the last couple of years. My emergency brake cable broke this year with 61,000 miles on the car. (Its 6 years old)It still looks sharp though. As much as Ive really enjoyed owning this car, the O2 sensor problem is making me consider unloading it now, for fear of another $210 repair bill, now that I am off of warranty.

NO RESALE VALUE - 2000 Hyundai Tiburon
By supersoc_zk601 - March 30 - 10:00 amBought it brand new in 2000, seemed like a good deal. Sporty, but the interior leather is junk and starts to wear right away. Not comfortable if you are tall.Forget trying to trade it in even at the dealership where u bought it. They will just tell you the market is dead and that they will give you 3000 below wholesale. The paint is garbage too it chips if you look at it funny.Never had any mechanical problems but I only had about 15k miles on it when I got rid of it. Under no circumstances should you pay over DEALER INVOICE for this car! And do not buy if you dont plan on keeping it for a long time.
