  • Amazing Looks, Very Reliable, Sporty - 2000 Hyundai Tiburon

Well at first I questioned the reliability of Hyundai, so I went around and asked local garages. I found out that in the past pre 90s hyundai was not good at all, but now they make all their parts and rarely have any problems. I owned a Toyota celica previously, and I rate the Tiburon much higher. Much better handeling and accleration. In the summer you will have not a problem with this car, but come winter make sure you have DRY gas. These cars hate the winter. Engine is strong, transimission shifts super quick, handeling is a dream with the suspension being designed by Porsh. I really love this car!

I purchased my Tiburon new and its been running great ever since. Fun to drive, excellent styling and the best warranty around. The price was very reasonable; this baby comes loaded with goodies that are standard equipment. Power seats, windows (including side view mirrors). Its got cruise control too. The interior is user friendly with all controls easily within reach. The front sets are comfortable with lots of leg room. The back seat is ok for kids and midgets or aduls on a short hop. A great car for commuting or just for fun!

  • Fun and fast - but whats that noise? - 2000 Hyundai Tiburon

Unique styling and great fun to drive. Bought new almost three years ago as a mid-life crisis car, and it has been an excellent value for the money. The combination of the vehicle weight, powertrain, and suspension system is fabulous, especially when you compare it to cars in its class that cost many thousands of dollars more. I am about to take it in (less than 28,000 miles now) to see what the dealer has to say about a strange "clacking" noise that seems to be emanating from between the dash and the windshield on the drivers side on bumpy pavement. In sum, if Hyundai can build these things just a little tighter, Id certainly buy another "Tib."

  • Please Consider.... - 2000 Hyundai Tiburon

I honestly love the car, how it drives, has awesome a/c, and just a fun car, but it has some major issues. Ive read through these reviews and see that people are constantly replacing headlights, which I found myself doing the same. People with wiring problems, which Ive had. Ive spent WAY too much trying to fix a problem with my car not starting. It turns over only when it wants to. Ive replaced the relay wire to the fuel pump, which worked for a while, but now the car is only starting when it feels like it. Ive replaced the battery, ignition coil, relay wires. The interior dome lights quit working, and for a long time, my only headlights were my brights since the headlights wouldnt work

I purchased the vehicle new. Three years later I have 91,000 miles. I have had to replace a fuel pump and seven headligh bulbs (problem with the manf of the bulbs - not the car). The dealership has been super and the car has been the most trouble free vehicle I have ever owned. I get 22 mph in the city and up to 33 on the highway. I was involved in a serious accident shortly after I purchased it, the car I hit was a Honda Accord who ran a light. I "T- boned" their vehicle and it was atotal loss. The Tiburon had to have the bumper assemply replaced - Total cost $880. Yea, I like my shark.

  • Heed my warning! I love this car, but... - 2000 Hyundai Tiburon

I love this car; the style, the way it sits on the road, handles the corners. Unfortunately for me I found out after the fact that Hyundai has some major transmission problems. I bought it at 33,000 miles as the 2nd owner and had a 60,000m warranty. The tranmission started acting up not too long after; losing 1st gear, not shifting out of 2nd gear unless you shut the car off. Hyundai said they couldnt find a thing wrong, until my warranty expired. Less than 2,000 later, they tell me I need a new tranmission. To the tune of $1,700. Now, just 1 1/2yrs, Im getting rid of it b/c its doing the same exact thing it did before the rebuild. Love the car but, please learn from my bad experience.

  • Some Quirky problems - 2000 Hyundai Tiburon

I loved my Tiburon. Well, aside from a few quirky problems. There are some electrical issues, I have blown many head lights. I also have problems with Oxygen sensors in the exhaust system.I have had to have 4 sensors replaced in the last couple of years. My emergency brake cable broke this year with 61,000 miles on the car. (Its 6 years old)It still looks sharp though. As much as Ive really enjoyed owning this car, the O2 sensor problem is making me consider unloading it now, for fear of another $210 repair bill, now that I am off of warranty.

  • Very Reliable - 2000 Hyundai Tiburon

At 3 years this car has proven to be extremely reliable with excellent fuel economy. With 2 years of bumper to bumper coverage and roadside assistance, and 7 years of powertrain coverage left I feel I made an excellent choice.
