Overview & Reviews
After receiving significant upgrades last year, the Sonata receives only minor changes this year. Among these are a battery-saver feature (in the event that any of lights are left on); illuminated window switches; a 12-volt power point in the trunk; and electronic, rather than cable-operated, releases for the trunk lid and fuel door. Additionally, Hyundai announced that it had misstated the horsepower ratings for all of the models in its lineup in previous years, so the Sonata's four-cylinder is now rated at 138 horsepower (down from 149) and its V6 is rated at 170 (down from 181), though the engines themselves are unchanged.
- Excellent warranty, stylish sheet metal, pleasant highway ride, lots of bang for your family-sedan buck.
- Noisy four-cylinder engine, some cheap interior bits.

Great Bargain - 2003 Hyundai Sonata
By Wilson - November 14 - 10:00 amAfter shopping around I decided that the V6 Sonata was by far the best buy for the money. Yes, in terms of reliability, this purchase might be a roll the dice. Im hoping the Hyundai of today is like the Toyota of the late 60s - up and coming. This auto was purchase as a commuter car, however it rides well on the highway with a surprisingly quiet ride.

Im 74 and wanted an a/t - 2003 Hyundai Sonata
By darken - October 8 - 10:00 amVery pleased with the dealer. It is an eyestopper that everyone seems to like. Tight until broken in, but releases as it acquires mileage. I have just 5000 on it so far and am well pleased. Mine is grey, a color that appeals to many. I find the suspension a bit hard, four wheel independent, and the webbing on the steering wheel bothersome. I think I will get a pair of Isotoners for driving for comfort and a bit of class.

Im Lovin It! - 2003 Hyundai Sonata
By Matt_Ohio - September 11 - 6:22 amPurchased new, the 03 Sonata has been a smart buy. I would buy another Hyundai, problem being, it would be another Sonata. I enjoy my car and use it for distance traveling. Its reliable and fun to drive. Winter driving is on ice and snow also is a breeze with front wheel drive and comfortable size on the highway. New or used, try a Sonata. Drive Smart!

Great Value - 2003 Hyundai Sonata
By Greg Bender - August 15 - 1:15 amThis car has been all we were hoping it would be and more. The 2 years we have driven this car it has only required one dealer visit, the chrome peeled off the interior door handles so they were replaced no questioned asked. The car rides great and the performance of the V6 is more then adequate. We will be looking to replace this vehicle soon and are leaning towards a small SUV from Hyundai or Kia because of this cars quality and affordability.

Love my Sonata - 2003 Hyundai Sonata
By Cass - July 22 - 5:03 pmAfter years if driving a VW (a nightmare from the beginnig) we bought a use Sonata and I am in love. It love that car! Its stylish, fun to drive and pretty darn good on gas, depsite current gas prices. Hyundai might has nabbed a customer for life if the car remains as great as it has been!

Best car Ive ever owned - 2003 Hyundai Sonata
By Fredric Hirsch - July 17 - 5:57 pmeasy entry/exit. great visibility, good drivetrain combo, but could use a little more power. logical and easy to use controls, versatile interior appointments (2 tiered console, useful door and seat pockets). has been low maintenance outside of routine maintenance (tires, brakes, tune-ups and fluid changes) the only repair has been front wheel bearings..., oh yeah, Ive got 198,000 miles as of this writing, in 2-1/2 years. I am a delivery agent for UPS doing interstate computer parts deliveries, and this car has been just about flawless. kudos hyundai!!!
