This Year's Model Updates:

For 2010, the Hyundai Elantra adds a new, fuel-efficient Blue model along with improved fuel economy for all other models. A new grille and chrome trim spruce up the appearance, while iPod/USB connections are now standard down to the GLS trim.

Pros:
  • High-class cabin for the price, smooth and secure ride, spacious interior with adult-friendly backseat, generous features list, low price, long warranty.
Cons:
  • A bit bland to drive, a few cheap interior bits, lackluster side-impact safety scores, engine gets noisy at higher rpm.

  • terrible ride - 2010 Hyundai Elantra

I just traded in my Toyota Corolla on this Elantra, what a mistake! This is like riding in a bumpy truck, not a fun car to go for a relaxing ride. We feel every single crack in the road. On the freeway, it is not as bad but in city driving it is so miserable, no one likes riding with us anywhere. Not as good of gas mileage as our Corolla either. We have buyers remorse. We would rather stay home than have to drive this around town

  • Worst Car Ive Ever Owned! - 2010 Hyundai Elantra

When accelerating, it lags A LOT when I punch it, it stands still and then goes. Very dangerous. afraid to let my son drive it. Very jerky. Between 20-40 mph, car lags Drivers seat upholstry keeps "puckering". Was given a hard time by dealership. Told me it was normal wear and tear. (Have seen several Hyundais from previous years with 100,000 miles on them & they dont have this "wear & tear" problem.) They finally repaired it, only to happen again a week later. Now theyre trying the old "wear & tear" line again. Very loud car. Feel every bump I go over. Outside noise is loud. Id turn up radio but radio fades, when I come to a stop. I could go on & on. Do not get this car!!

  • Airbag - 2010 Hyundai Elantra

On September 16 a drunk driver pulled out in front of me. My 2010 Elantra was totaled. Thank God the seat belt worked because not one airbag deployed. The car was totaled. Im still feeling the effects but at least Im alive.

  • My New Elantras Name is Bumpy - 2010 Hyundai Elantra

Like so many other reviews that I just read, I have my own suspension nightmare. How can a brand new car have such a rough ride. My old 1994 Chevy Cavailer is a much smoother drive. Why would they build a car that is so unpleasant to drive. When I tested the car, I convinced myself that the bumpy ride was all in my head. On my way home from purchasing my Elantra, I wanted to make a U-turn back to the dealership. Please do not make the same mistake I did. Test the car with close attention. If you feel too many bumps...run away fast...or youll regret it big time...I truly wish there would be a recall on 2010 Elantras due to a poor suspension performance...

  • Roughest ride ever - 2010 Hyundai Elantra

We live in the northern mid-west with rough winter roads but the ride in my new car is the worst I have ever experienced. You feel every bump not once but twice (front and back). If you like the feel of riding a go-cart this is the car for you. The suspension is so tight I have a head/stomach ache every time I am in the car. It is impossible to drink any beverage while moving. It has been years since we bought a new car and I am heartsick to be stuck with one that is so uncomfortable. Mileage is only at 27mpg. We also own a 2009 Toyota Corolla - there is no comparison to the quality of the ride. The dealership says this is the way they are built. This will be the last Hyundai!

  • Never own Hyundai again - 2010 Hyundai Elantra

I own a Hyundai Elentra 2010 and I am getting rid of it in 2 months. Horrible brakes and skids in bad weather.

  • I despise this car - 2010 Hyundai Elantra

I bought my car nearly 2 years ago with about 61,000 miles on it. The vehicle now has 79,000 miles on it. With the hail protection plan I added, it totaled to about $11,500. When I first got the car, I noticed nothing wrong with it, mainly because I lived in a small town and only drove it at no more than 30mph most of the time. Upon moving to the city for college, I noticed major issues, mainly with the way the car shifts. Its extremely rough, even getting up to 40mph is a hassle. Ive looked up reviews, and other people seem to have this issue as well. Im getting my transmission checked in a couple of days, and I swear if it needs replaced, Ill never get a Hyundai ever again. Plus, resale value is awful. Im looking at $3,000 trade in value.
