Overview & Reviews
For 2010, the Hyundai Elantra adds a new, fuel-efficient Blue model along with improved fuel economy for all other models. A new grille and chrome trim spruce up the appearance, while iPod/USB connections are now standard down to the GLS trim.
- High-class cabin for the price, smooth and secure ride, spacious interior with adult-friendly backseat, generous features list, low price, long warranty.
- A bit bland to drive, a few cheap interior bits, lackluster side-impact safety scores, engine gets noisy at higher rpm.

Extremely poor service/quality - 2010 Hyundai Elantra
By passingby2 - March 2 - 3:46 pmMy 2010 Elantra GLS was purchased in May 2011 with 30,000 miles on it. Six months later the transmission had to be replaced and the dealer inserted a refabricated one NOT a new one. Six months later...a front motor mount had to be replaced...and a few months later--a safety recall on a brake part was issued. Now, the car is vibrating again and two independent mechanics have stated, in writing, that a transmission bracket is loose and a motor mount is beginning to crack. After 2 separate trips to the Leesburg Hyundai dealership the mgr stated there is nothing wrong with the car. There are 400 miles left on warranty --then repairs are my responsibility. Staff was rude and non- caring.

Not bad, not great - 2010 Hyundai Elantra
By chris72771 - June 30 - 8:39 pmThe interior is very roomy yet it is very plain and some of it appears bare bones. The car has been reliable but the engine has seemed to run rough since day 1. When I asked the dealer about it I was told it was normal for the new cars to not idle smoothly. (It still makes no sense to me but it is what it is) The car is very fuel efficient but definitely could have had more bells and whistles for the price.

Decent car serious problems - 2010 Hyundai Elantra
By anonumos - March 5 - 7:48 amI bought this car used in May 2012. I paid too much, but thats my fault, not the cars. It had been throwing an engine warning off-and-on since I bought it, but the dealership mechanic could not find the problem told me it was fine. However, with 38k on the odometer, the engine has blown a main seal and is being replaced completely. It appears to be covered under warranty, but I felt no warning until oil started to leak all over the engine compartment. Engine still ran smoothly, good power, no problems...just oil everywhere. And now a replacement engine. Meanwhile I have a 2013 Elantra loaner with 100 miles on the clock. 2013 is a much better car.

"bouncy-bouncy" - 2010 Hyundai Elantra
By mtnbyker76 - November 10 - 2:00 amI started out dealing for the GLS, but move up to theSE because of the ESC. I didnt test drive the SE because I thought it would be just like the GLS, and they were cutting me a great deal. Got it home and then, drove it to work. It was very stiff and extremely bouncy. Sometimes it seems to level out, but once it starts bouncing, it bounces. Dealer says its because of the larger wheels and tire, I dont know. Its a great deal turned sour. Does get very good mpg.

Bang, Bang, Bang - 2010 Hyundai Elantra
By Debi in Tampa - February 14 - 10:09 amI purchased a 4 door hatchback. I will start out with the negative-low rider- bang, bang, bang over every little bump. I sometimes think a plastic bag makes it bang. The cars suspension needs major improvement. My Chevy Malibu was so much more comfortable and truthfully I wish I had gone back to a Chevy. Gas mileage is about 22.9 per gallon in city.

nice car with lousy transmission - 2010 Hyundai Elantra
By Ronald Osborn - August 21 - 8:55 amNo problems except transmission went up after about 50000 miles. Replaced with remanufactured one under warranty but neither dealer nor manufacturer revealed whether replacement was any different from original. As I recall, replacement only had 12 month warranty on part itself, no labor coverage.
