This Year's Model Updates:

For 2002, Honda has added a glass rear window with a defroster, an improved transmission and a more powerful audio system. There are also a handful of minor changes that only '00-'01 S2000 owners would notice, such as chrome-bezel taillights, an upgraded center console, door panel net storage pockets, a new shifter knob, an aluminum-accented foot rest and silver trim interior accents. There's also a new color for 2002: Suzuka Blue.

Pros:
  • Agile chassis, rev-happy engine, minimalist design, optional hardtop.
Cons:
  • Not much low-end torque, no passenger airbag cut-off switch.

Just got my 2002 today and couldnt be happier. This is one fun car to drive. For the price, there isnt a better high performance car out there. Highly recommend for anyone who thinks driving should not be a tedious day to day ordeal.

For those who think a 4 cylinder normally aspirated engine cant be a thriller - you are WRONG! Take a 2 liter 4 cylinder, put it on speed (9000 rpms) and you have an incredible rush. The sound is sweet. Above 6000 rpms the sound is incredible. Think of your favorite Formula 1 arcade game, and place it into a real vehicle. The sound - the cockpit - the feel.

wow! what a kick butt ride! This car gets more looks than my corvette convertible ever did and it handles better too. How can you keep under 7000 rpm in this baby? If you never have driven one, beg the next owner you see for a ride.

There is no bigger thrill-ride available on the road today. Hit the little red button, use your fingertips to shift the flawless stick, and let it rev. Trips to the supermarket cause the heart to flutter. This is a noisy bulldog of a car that always demands your attention. Not for music lovers you cant hear the radio. Who cares?

  • $9,000 per cylender? - 2002 Honda S2000

When I got in the cockpit I first got a positive impression of the car, but given time, other things came to my attention. The Cars performance would satisfy me if the price was around $25,000 because lets face it: 240 horses isnt extreme power by anybodys standards. I was dissappointed by the cars lack of power more than anything, although other aspects of performance were better.

  • This is a roadster to love! - 2002 Honda S2000
    By -

The S2000 is everything the 60s British roadsters aspired to be . . . but without all the fussing to keep them running. Throw in cornering ability that was unheard of back then, an engine that revs to 9 grand, and every trip to the store is an adventure. Some have groused about a lack of low-end torque. This may be true if you are comparing it to a V8, but next to many other cars, the Miata for one, the Honda has more torque. Certainly power below 6K is not awe inspiring, but it is adequate. Above 6K - - unbelievable!

  • My new s2000 - 2002 Honda S2000

I researched all the top performing cars...based on price and performance...there is not better value out there than the s2000 in my opinion. I was able to purchase a brand new 2002 model for about 2k under sticker, so I know the value will retain itself in the future. Im just breaking the engine in so I havent pushed the car to its performance limits but I know I will love it when I do. Mine is blk/blk

  • No longer want a viper - 2002 Honda S2000
    By -

I know that sounds crazy, but after testing a Viper, Boxter, and NSX, I had to settle with S2000 - its faster then the Boxster (which I just proved the other day), it turns tighter then the NSX which I didnt think could be possible, and its just more then 40% of the cost of the Viper. The S2000 is actually a little difficult to learn to drive correctly, it really does require practice to shift quickly and keep the RPMs up between 7500-9000 but who else short of indy cars can say that they get to do that.

  • Purist Sportscar - 2002 Honda S2000

This car is my weekend warrior toy. I used to have a sportsbike but got tired of always having to "suit up" before going anywhere. Sold the bike and got this "sportsbike with 4 wheels". The feeling of this car is definitely that of a sportsbike. Handling is exceptional. I LOVE THIS CAR!!!
