  • Bubba-build quality cant justify price - 2005 Honda Odyssey
    By -

Honda has always exacted a brand premium and the Odyssey is no exception. I wish that I could say after 22,000 miles of ownership that the car was worth the premium, but its not. Chevy build-quality at Cadillac prices. The car is built in Lincoln Alabama and the assembly quality shows that Bubba needs to study a lot harder before hes ready to build a premium product. Im very disappointed in the cars fit and finish. Ive never had a car before where I needed to rehang half of the body panels to get the car to fit together properly. The paint has poor luster and horizontal surfaces are filled with dirt. The hood has splotchs where the factory attempted to wet-sand out some of the dirt.

  • Good Van - 2005 Honda Odyssey

Enjoy driving the van, it really does not feel like a van nothing sluggish about it. Van has had some issues like brakes, a shaking as I approach 40 mph and a side door that is defective. All-in-all, I have to say I have enjoyed the van. My lease is up next week and I am considering keeping the van.

  • Very Good Minivan -- Expected Better - 2005 Honda Odyssey
    By -

Despite disliking minivans as a segment, we fell in love with the features and performance of the Ody Touring when we test drove one. But, we expected better reliability and engineering from Honda after we had had the care for a while. The PAX system is terrible. On our 3rd set with 45K miles. Harsh ride with vibrations. Honda gives run-around when investigating replacing with conventional tires. Gas mileage in our hilly area is 12-13MPG. On the highway, we can occasionally exceed 20MPG. Maintenance costs at dealer are higher than for our Nissan Pathfinder SUV with many more things going wrong over the first 4 years of ownership. Poor and outdated car navigation system.

  • Would have bought something w/fewer prob - 2005 Honda Odyssey
    By -

I always wanted a Honda odyssey, so when I was finally able to own one I was ecstatic. Now I wish I had bought something different. I have had the whistling noise fixed three times. I have had the brakes fixed three times starting at 7,000 miles and now at 34,000 miles they are starting to grind again. I just had them replaced a third time a month ago. Everytime I bring it in for service there is a recall. I also had to have the dvd screen replaced because it kept darkening. All in all, it has been a very disappointing experience. I wont buy an Odyssey again. May be I will buy a Sienna next time.

  • Great Van, Poor Gas Mileage - 2005 Honda Odyssey
    By -

This is the 5th Honda I have purchased and for the first time what was promised has not been delivered. They post a 28 mpg average and we are getting 20 mpg consistantly with predominately highway driving. It has been reported to the dealership and we are not alone with this complaint. They are working on the problem and hopefully it is just a correctable glitch with a couple of vehicles. It is also noticeable when the engine goes into the economy mode while driving. It would be okay if the gas mileage was improved, but to date we have not had the pleasure of improved gas consumption.

  • Never again - Odyssey - 2005 Honda Odyssey
    By -

Bought this car brand new - thought it was such a life saver for twin babies. On the way home from the dealer some maintenance light comes on. Every time I turn around some warning/maintenance light comes. I have owned lots of other Hondas and maintenance was never an issue. I am surprised a maintenance light hasnt come on to maintenance the maintenance light for $500. Maintenance A, B what a piece of junk.

  • Mustve gotten a lemon - 2005 Honda Odyssey

I purchased a new EX Odyssey and have had a lot of problems with vibration. The dealership replaced the tires several times and now that they are sick of seeing me, they are saying that there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. This is an otherwise great minivan, but there is a flaw in the rims/tire combo and my dealership knows this since they did tell me that they have had to replace tires in the past on other 2005 Odysseys...the tires were replaced at 5000 miles due to incredible vibrations. Test drive and be absolutely certain that there are no vibrations or wheel shimmy before buying.

  • Honda Touring - 2005 Honda Odyssey

Just completed a 7,000 mile plus trip from Maryland to Alberta, Canada.. Vehicle was very comfortable, fun to drive. Disappointed in miles per gallon though. Would barely make 20 mpg during most of the trip, with an occasional peak of 22 mpg.. Previously made the identical trip in a 1995 Ford Crown Victoria, same speeds, similar load, same route. The Ford with a 4.6 liter V8 averaged 24 mpg with peaks of 27 mpg. I expected to do better with the Honda with its 3.5 liter V6 and ballyhood VCM (Variable Cylinder Management) that advertised up to 29mpg... My Ford averages 20-21mpg in our normal around town driving... So far the Honda only averages around 18mpg in the same..

  • 2500 mile vacation - 2005 Honda Odyssey
    By -

Took a 2500 mile trip with my Honda LX. Best mileage was 26.47 mpg highway, the worst was 16.99 mpg with city and low octane gas.The seats are very uncomfortable and firm, and we had to stop every hour to get out of the van.aWe added padded seat cushions and several small pillows for the chairs, then we could sit in the seats several hours without our legs going numb. With a full load for vacation the van rode very harsh over rough highways and expansion joints. We had wind noise from 35 to 70mph. It is the windshield trim strip gap. Acceleration was great. It has a much sharper turning radius for parking.

Rear fender panel loose. Battery failed in 3rd year. Carousel under floor too low to the ground. Smashed it in hitting road hazard first year. Gas mileage terrible. Tires wearing unevenly. Road noise very loud, brakes squeal.
