This Year's Model Updates:

There are no significant changes to the 2006 Honda CR-V, though stated engine power is slightly lower than last year due to Honda's implementation of a new SAE testing procedure.

Pros:
  • Highly versatile and roomy interior, stable handling, comfortable ride, good crash test scores, all major safety features come standard.
Cons:
  • Not as big inside as some competitors, no V6 engine option.

  • The big space inside my CRV - 2006 Honda CR-V

My CRV is a good suv, beautiful design, big interior space, easy to drive, very stable in curves by the AWD. The motor is powerful when I need it. The wheel outside leaves a big space under the carpet. Its very useful a table for the camping inside the car.

Ive had my Honda CRV for over 10 years. I refuse to get a new car because there isnt anything wrong with it! I finally gave it a 10 year birthday present with a tune up, radiator flush, etc. when it hit 100,000 miles. I have had to get new brakes, struts and tires, but no major mechanical problems with it in the past 10 years. It goes in for oil changes but not much else. I will keep it until it literally falls apart. Its been and is a great car. Because its an older model, I dont have navigation tools or satellite radio, which would be nice. (but it does have a cassette player!!) Im curious to see how many miles it will have when I do decide to trade it in on a new CRV - probably in 20 years! I have heard people say that CRVs have poor sound insulation, but its not much different than other cars from what I have observed.

  • A little SUV with a lot of quality! - 2006 Honda CR-V
    By -

This vehicle was an amazing surprise. Its quality was so far superior to the Ford Escape, and Mercury Mariner that I test drove that it was no contest. It has better acceleration, no squeaks or rattles like the Ford products, and more importantly with its side curtain air bags over the windows, anti-lock brakes with computer control, and traction control all built in standard, it was the safest vehicle you can buy for around $20,000. We were surprised how nimbly it drove, and tested it on empty, wet parking lot, and it maneuvered flawlessly, as we worked the anti-lock brakes to ensure they operated correctly. We are very impressed, as it is far better than Toyotas and Nissans we have owned.

  • Great Mini SUV - 2006 Honda CR-V

I enjoy most everything about this vehicle. The looks, the ride, the standard equipment and a couple more things that Im sure I missed here.

  • Great Gas Mileage - 2006 Honda CR-V
    By -

Sure you could get better gas mileage with a sedan, but the CR-V gets great gas mileage for a SUV. It has lots of cargo space for a smaller SUV. It handles like a car, but you still get to feel like youre riding high and driving a bigger automobile. If you can afford it, and dont mind the lower gas mileage, then get the Pilot. But for a small SUV, the CR-V is great!

  • Good Decision - 2006 Honda CR-V

I was thinking about buying either a Rav4 or a CR-V and decided on the CR-V maiinly because I owned and recently desposed of a 1995 Accord. Im glad I chose the CR-V. The CR-V is a fun car to drive. It is very nimble and peppy without losing a supple and comfortable ride. The fit and trim is the same quality that Honda is known. The seating is comfortable especially in the rear seat. I purchase the cargo cover and I now have a trunk as large as any Ive owned. This is a quality vehicle at a very reasonable price.

  • Just what I was looking for - 2006 Honda CR-V
    By -

I found the Honda CR-V easy to handle when driving up hills and around corners. Its got plenty of room for five people, and ample room to store things in the back. I expecially like that the door in the rear opens "out" like a car door verses "up" like most other suvs. This makes it easier on the arms and shoulders of women or smaller people.

Car has several problems, not including a couple of rattles. Car has always had an idle problem that results in hesitation in the mid RPM range. Honda will not fix the problem because they are in denial. Most likely cause is a bad throttle sensor. Very annoying and dangerous (the car can fail to turn off the throttle). In addition, the rear differential is binding.
