  • Almost 100,000 and still going good - 2006 Honda CR-V

Im at 90,000 miles and havent really had any major problems with the vehicle. Only thing Ive had to replace is my tires. The only unscheduled issues Ive had is problems with the trucks trim. It is a little cheap and not secured very well. A piece of the windshield trim flew off and I have a few other pieces of trim that are coming loose. Thats not too big of a deal though. Its a nice family suv, its very reliable and easy to work on. The pull-out table in the trunk is a nice little added feature also. I do recommend getting better tires if you want to take full advantage of the AWD. I definitely recommend this vehicle though.

This is my second Honda CR-V and I dont have any major complaints. Ive never broken down, and have only had to replace a few parts. The added features on the Special Edition like heated seats make me feel like Im driving a luxury car.

  • ABS VSA Lights are on @ ~110K - 2006 Honda CR-V

I had a PTTR (pull to the right) problem when I first got it - brand new. Dealer agreed to fix it after a few trips. Make sure youre driving the actual car youre going to buy - when youre buying a brand new car. ABS & VSA lights came on around 110K miles. Dealer asked $2000 to fix! These being said its a reliable car. I would buy it again.

  • My Honda saved my life!! Thank you Honda! - 2006 Honda CR-V

I was in a horrible accident last night - an ambulance slammed into me while I was sitting at an exit ramp from the highway. I must have been hit about 70 miles an hour and there was nowhere for me to go. My CRV is totaled and my face hit something -- Im guessing the steering wheel -- and I broke my nose. And that was it. I went to see the car at the impound lot today and I truly believe Honda saved my life. The car accordioned in everywhere but stopped before any damage could occur to the back row of seats or the front row of seats. The seating area is completely intact!! I cannot tell you how grateful I am for this cars safety.

Agree with others in saying that overall this small SUV (that feels and is pretty roomy) was very dependable and easy to drive. Mileage was typical - 21 - 26 mpg around town. It had enough engine power. Had it less than a year due to being rear ended by a heavy commercial truck that didnt brake, it just hit. CR-V was totaled. Bad thing, yes. Good thing, we lived. Not much you can say after that...Glad to be here. I have friends who own CR-Vs from 2005 through 2009 and they all love their particular year models. One friend has two CR-Vs in the family, a 2008 and 2009.

  • Overall very good with a few annoyances - 2006 Honda CR-V

Overall, this has been a nice little SUV. The paint quality is sub par it seems like new scratches appear every day. Also, for an I-4 engine powering a Civic platform, I expected better gas mileage than what I get, which is usually about 20 around town and never better than 23-25 on the highway. Other than that, it drives well, its comfortable, it carries everything we need it to carry, and it is reliable. This is one we plan to keep until it is "driven into the ground."

  • Good but not up to the hype - 2006 Honda CR-V
    By -

We would have enjoyed the car more if Honda owners didnt hype the brand. The paint was a mess from new. All four seat belts hang onto the ground after a year. Rear differential makes car shudder in turns. Transmission clunks from first to second and back again. Uncomfortable seats and fabric. Shudders on acceleration. Very expensive brakes. Takes forever to get in to dealer, they must be fixing somebodys Honda. Having said all that, the car was pretty good. Id consider another but you shouldnt buy the hype. Its a car, they break. Id love to sit down with every person who said, "Buy a Toyota/Honda, youll never have a another problem. Ridiculous thing to say.

The car is very dependable and has good power. However there are three points that are very bothersome. First, the paint is of pour quality and the exterior of my car is looking bad. I think I can scratch the paint job up with just my fingernail. Second, the car has a lot of road noise. Thirdly, the gas mileage was not as it stated on the sticker (23/29) when I bought it. I have never had better than 26 hwy and around the city i average 18 to 19 mpg.

  • 140,000 miles and going - 2006 Honda CR-V

I have no mechanical problems at all with this car. The gas mileage is 26 on the hwy which should be better. The seats are very hard, had to buy a gel seat to sit on. It handles OK but in the wind it gets moved around some. Also, it is loud from road noise. My black paint is like cheap nail polish. But I am sure I will drive this over 200,000 and have no problems.

Leased the car for my wife in 2006, no brainer decision to buy out the lease at present. The car has been perfect for the wife and small child as a daily driver and well suited for extended family drives/vacations. Sight lines are excellent, functionality is superb with the exception of the hinged back gate - would prefer an overhead rear door. Peppy enough to be fun and strong enough (AWD) for Philadelphia snow. Mileage is disappointing - Accords with the same engine get much better mileage - weve yet to break the 28MPG barrier on the hwy. 6-disc player and sound system is high quality. Reclining rear seats are nice. Overall this is a high value, very functional, simple car.
