This Year's Model Updates:

The 2006 Honda Accord receives freshened interior and exterior styling and mechanical- and feature-related updates. Sharp eyes will notice the Accord's revised fascias and new alloy wheel designs. Minor engine tweaks, including drive-by-wire throttle control, result in a slight bump in horsepower for both the four-cylinder and V6 engine (a more significant development than you might think given the more stringent SAE testing procedures in effect this year). Additionally, the V6 sedan can now be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, and all V6 models have revised suspension settings, 17-inch alloy wheels and stability control. Last year's DX has been replaced by the VP (Value Package) trim with standard air conditioning and cruise control, and LX V6 and Hybrid models gain a moonroof. The LX Special Edition includes alloy wheels, rear disc brakes and a CD changer. The Accord Hybrid also picks up stability control and a temporary spare tire in place of last year's flat-fix kit. Additionally, the Hybrid model's fuel economy rating drops from 29 city/37 highway to 25/34. Finally, all models get a smart maintenance system and daytime running lamps.

Pros:
  • Roomy and stylish interior with simple controls, tight build quality, smooth ride, refined drivetrains, good crash test scores, strong reputation for reliability, high resale value.
Cons:
  • Tepid handling, brakes should be more powerful. Hybrid model offers no advantage in fuel economy over four-cylinder.

  • Best in Class Value - 2006 Honda Accord

2006 EX-V6/AT We have a 2004 Accord and needed another car. Test-drove the new Camry, Acura TL, and IS350. All great cars, and honestly didnt want to have two of the same car, but there was really no comparison. The steering feel, performance, ergonomics and comfort of this vehicle cant be beat at this price point. The Camry is very quiet and has more rear seat room, but not nearly as fun to drive and lacks the same standard features. The 2006 is definitely more fun to drive, might be the drive-by-wire throttle but this Accord gives more steering response and the suspension is more sporty than the 2004 EX V6. Couldnt stop smiling driving it home from the dealership. No contest. Honda definitely improved steering feel and agility over 2004 model which was my main complaint back then.

  • 2006 Honda Accord LX Special Edition - 2006 Honda Accord

I really like this car, the special edition is the way to go with the alloy wheels and 6 disc cd changer and audio controls on the steering wheel this car is quite a deal. It drives well especially on highways and accelerates quickly without being overpowering. It is very sporty. I had a choice between this car and the 2006 Camry and I am very happy with my choice the Camry made me feel older and it was boring. I will never buy anything other than Honda and Acura.

  • Affordable Luxury - 2006 Honda Accord

I looked at everything out there. I wanted leather, wood grain interior, dependability, and sharp looks. For my price range, it came down to a Certified Used Acura or a brand spanking new Accord (I tested Camry and Altima and they werent in the same class). Obviously I went with the Accord and have been very pleased for the last 2 months.

  • 60,000 miles later - 2006 Honda Accord

I just got 60,000 miles on my Accord without a single problem with an average of 28 mph- I drive mostly highway. This is definitely a worry-free car. I posted an all 10s review a few days after I bought it and now I can say it definitely has met my expectation. At least once per day during my commute, I wonder why would somebody buy anything else but Honda (I mean in the same category).

  • Another Winner! - 2006 Honda Accord

This is our fourth Honda Accord in fifteen years and each one is better than the previous. Its quite incredible that Honda offers this package for so much less than an LX where there is only minimal differences. Ride, handling and especially acceleration are exceptional for a four cylinder. Gas mileage on the first tank was 33mpg - 70% highway. Price was $100 over cost with some extras thrown in (mudguards, pinstripe). Although I find Accords generally boring, this one is less so than previous years. Its still a generic car, just one that will never break (we average 150,000 miles per vehicle with no major repairs - ever). You really cant go wrong with this car and package.

  • Better than Benz! - 2006 Honda Accord

I traded a 2004 C230 Kompressor and Im glad I did! The Benz was faster and had more electronics (in-dash diagnostic/trip computer with digital readout, and one-touch everything) but my EX-L coupe has all the comfort and a much better ride. The interior fit and construction is terrific, theres lots more driver leg room, and the seats are more comfortable than the Benz. My Honda coupe is every bit as nice as the Benz, inside and out, and cost $10,000.00 less!

  • Great Car - 2006 Honda Accord

First off, through Mercury insurance the SE is cheaper than an EX and an LX. Dont know why or how but it is! For 1500-2000 more we could have purchased the EX, but for better rims and a moonroof it wasnt worth it. We went from a 2004 Civic to this, and must say that its the best decision ever. Love the new body style, especially the upgraded rear tail-lights. The Graphite Pearl color is flawless as well.

  • Love this car - 2006 Honda Accord

I just got this car from totaling my Lexus and like it a lot better. I love the inside and the outside and for a 4 cyl. It has a lot of power and for a two door theres a lot of room for my friends. I have not had a problem with this car yet and hope I wont and I have no complaints. I get complements from everybody at school, from family, and from total strangers.

  • What a great car - 2006 Honda Accord
    By -

I have only had this car for a few weeks however my wife has an 06 EX V6 which is a great car however I love my EX 4 cyl. as its is just as smooth as her V6 but gets better gas mileage and feels a lot lighter as I drive it and really feels just as powerful This is one great car.

  • ValuePackage is still great car! - 2006 Honda Accord
    By -

Like most consumers, I narrowed my new car purchase down to either a Camry or an Accord. After test driving both vehicles, the answer was clear-cut. The Accord is a better looking car inside and out and the few options that I do not have on my car are outweighed by the fact that side- curtain airbags were included, where Toyota wanted to charge extra for them. The vehicle has tight handling and responsive acceleration that I did not find in the Camry I test drove. Add in the courteous and professional service I got from the Honda dealer (that I did not get at the Toyota lot) and I bought the car before leaving the lot the same day I test drove it.
