This Year's Model Updates:

The 2006 Honda Accord receives freshened interior and exterior styling and mechanical- and feature-related updates. Sharp eyes will notice the Accord's revised fascias and new alloy wheel designs. Minor engine tweaks, including drive-by-wire throttle control, result in a slight bump in horsepower for both the four-cylinder and V6 engine (a more significant development than you might think given the more stringent SAE testing procedures in effect this year). Additionally, the V6 sedan can now be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, and all V6 models have revised suspension settings, 17-inch alloy wheels and stability control. Last year's DX has been replaced by the VP (Value Package) trim with standard air conditioning and cruise control, and LX V6 and Hybrid models gain a moonroof. The LX Special Edition includes alloy wheels, rear disc brakes and a CD changer. The Accord Hybrid also picks up stability control and a temporary spare tire in place of last year's flat-fix kit. Additionally, the Hybrid model's fuel economy rating drops from 29 city/37 highway to 25/34. Finally, all models get a smart maintenance system and daytime running lamps.

Pros:
  • Roomy and stylish interior with simple controls, tight build quality, smooth ride, refined drivetrains, good crash test scores, strong reputation for reliability, high resale value.
Cons:
  • Tepid handling, brakes should be more powerful. Hybrid model offers no advantage in fuel economy over four-cylinder.

  • Overated Honda Quality - 2006 Honda Accord
    By -

The car is basically a good car. It is the quality and dealer experience that ruins it. I bought it with 6 miles on the odo and it died on me when I was driving it,no power, nothing.A few mins. later it would restart. It was in for repair twice in the first 2 weeks. It was a bad engine computer like I told them to check the first time. But Im not a "mechanic", so what do I know? Now the paint on the bottom window trim is curling back and I have a bulge in the A pillar airbag cover/trim piece. Also I have an electrical problem that they say is "normal" the headlights dim and the idle gets rough and the hvac fan surges. I say bad alternator, they say it just cant keep up and that its normal.

  • Wrong size tires - 2006 Honda Accord

This vehicle is equipped with the wrong size tires if youre looking for a car with a great ride. You feel every bump and even the smallest crack in the road. The tires on this Accord V-6, are the P215/50 R17 93V All-Season. After consulting with the tire manuf., they indicated to me in writing that these tires "will lack ride comfort, but give you more performance handling, this tire selected by Honda." Im 62 yrs old and assumed the 2006 Honda would give a better ride and tire performance. The local Honda dealer refuses to swap the tires, and now Im stuck with an $28,000 vehicle that lacks a comfortable ride.

  • the car stalled the first day. - 2006 Honda Accord
    By -

the car died while driving two times the first week, I brought it back twice and they figured it out, loose wire, no problem with car other than poor fuel mileage, 20-26 mpg. Going back for first oil change hoping they will be able to improve mileage, sticker-26-34 mpg.
