  • Strong solid truck - 1999 GMC Suburban
    By -

Dad bought it used, hauled us up and down the coast thru my childhood and never a problem. The normal things went wrong around 150000, fuel pump transfer case radiator about 3000 in repairs , now its mine and runs strong as ever. With a 3 inch body lift and 33in all terrains the thing gets me through everything! I go down to corrala beach every few weaks and ruts or no ruts that vortec gets me out of anything. Rip out all the stupid electronics and lights forget about ac and this trucks a badass.

  • A tribute to Bertha - 1995 GMC Suburban
    By -

"Bertha" has logged nearly 300,000 miles with very little other than regular maintainance, Tires, batteries, plugs, wires etc. Has the original motor, transmission, starter. Insurance costs are lower than most. Shes got a little rust on the top and the hood has recently lost its top coat of paint but for a dark blue paint it has done pretty well. The interior looks barely used even though it has hauled people/children, lumber (a full 4X8 sheet of plywood will go inside) and all kinds of other cargo. Got it at 92,000 miles after a family with kids. I call it my transformer car. It will tow, haul, rides good on trips. The A/C has been replaced twice the last 50,000 miles. Great bargain.

  • Beauty and the Beast - 1999 GMC Suburban
    By -

When we first purchased the car about 3 years ago, it kept breaking down, we had to put a whole new engine in it, new fuel pump, new tires, and a few other things needed to be fixed. The AC does not work, it sucks with the leather seats during summer. BUT!! This car is awesome, once everything was fixed up, all was well. Its been running great! Sounds like a beast. I am a girl so were Beauty and the Beast together!! Even with all of these problems its very convienent. With the horrible gas mileage I just ask the other 8 passengers to pitch in for gas. Its a great road trip car! I love it.

  • Saved our lives - 1994 GMC Suburban
    By -

I have owned two 1994 suburbans. The first one I loved! It was solid and quiet and dependable. We had 300,000 miles on the engine and it still ran great. The transmission went out at 150,000. I drove it all the time everywhere. We camped in it traveled in it put lots of stuff in it. Very roomy fit four kids with no problem. Pulled horses in it. One day another SUV ran a stop sign and I hit it. The other SUV was pushed and went flying. My suburban engine and front was destroyed but nobody was even the least bit hurt. All eight of us were fine including my baby. As hard as I hit them around 60 mph I didnt even feel the crash that badly. The other vehicle didnt fare so well.

  • Great Car - 1999 GMC Suburban
    By -

I bought this car in 2001 with 80,000 miles on it. It has been one of the most reliable cars I have ever had. I am so impressed with the Suburban, that I wax it once a month. I now have 237,000 miles and it still runs like a champ! Believe me, I got a great car!

  • Great Over the Long Haul - 1999 GMC Suburban
    By -

We got our Suburban in 2001, it had low mileage and was in great shape. It has brought us across the country and everywhere else we wanted to go. It has been a wonderful truck. Itll haul the whole family comfortably. Maintenance wise, the only big problem weve had was the coolinbg system disaster when a different type of coolant caused the intake gaskets to decompose. Changed that and it was back on the road. The only negative Ive seen is the design for home repairmen. It could have been designed for easier repair for the do-it- yourselfer! The price of gas is causing us to consider trading or selling to buy a smaller truck, but outside of that its the best truck on the road.

  • BIG BABAY - 1999 GMC Suburban
    By -

I purchase this truck at 112,000 miles in 2002. I like the smooth ride it gives on the highway. It handles like a car. And Great for big familys and a true work horse. But I replaced alot of parts on it. Running up a repair bill of $4000.00+

  • Gets the job done - 1992 GMC Suburban
    By -

I bought it in 1998 and now have 170,000 miles on it. As everyone says, it gets the job done no matter how big or small. Used ones always seem to have new transmissions, but I always use 3rd gear going up and down hills so the torque converter doesnt have to work, and the trans still seems just fine. Bought some Michelin LT265/75R16 tires for it 60,000 miles ago soon after I got the Sub and they are still going strong although Ill replace them before going in the snow again. Its resale value is so low that its not worth selling and I keep it around for heavy hauling - its still just a sturdy GM pickup with a fancy covered rear. I get 14 mpg or more on the road at 75 mph.

  • Family Truck/ Cost in Gas - 1995 GMC Suburban
    By -

Bought in 2008, This truck is a great truck , does everything including great cargo space. plenty of room for a growing family like mine. I have right now over 207k on the original engine and cranks everyday, had to replace brakes more than twice, but thats it. I have put about 50k on the engine. It has very poor gasoline, as you can imagine. takes 100.00 a week to keep going. That will break you over time. I am going to park it or sell it now because of that. And it needs some repair.
