Overview & Reviews
The biggest news is the availability of the AdvanceTrac stability control system. All Windstars have sliding doors on both sides for 2002. Entry-level LX models get upgraded appearance items, and buyers of this trim can opt for the Autovision entertainment system and 16-inch alloy wheels for the first time. The short-lived SE Sport model is dropped, and SE buyers can no longer have leather seats. Four new colors freshen the outside of the Windstar.
- Top-flight safety equipment and ratings, plenty of interior features and options, powerful V6 engine.
- Disconnected ride and handling, poor interior space utilization, noisy V6 engine.

Good Van - 2002 Ford Windstar
By rhinobrecht - March 3 - 2:19 pmThe Windstar has been very reliable and enjoyable in general for us. The sliding doors tend to stick a little especially on cold mornings. The seats are very comfortable and the amenities are good for the money, I think. I believe the 02s only had the VHS (no DVD) available for the entertainment system so we opted not to get it. I wasnt overly impressed with the Chevy Venture in design or comfort for the same price (although they did have the DVD player). There have been minor problems, but overall its been reliable and a great van for the family.

Family Van - 2002 Ford Windstar
By Jean Otte - December 19 - 10:21 amOur Windstar has been a nice vehicle for our family. We had a Dodge before and I like this Windstar better. Would recommend it to anyone wanting a small van.

Trouble Free - 2002 Ford Windstar
By Kern - May 22 - 2:00 amWe have had 46000 trouble free miles with our Windstar Limited. Wish the third seat folded flat and worry like others about whether the doors will stop before crushing a childs arm. Otherwise we find it comfortable, easy to drive and great for long trips. It is more comfortable but less powerful than my daughters Honda O. Will buy the Freestar this year.

Some car dealer only wants to sell ! - 2002 Ford Windstar
By J Boniec - April 1 - 2:00 amThe Brake Master cylinder had to be replaced during the first few months I drove the Van. The dealership I purchase the Van Could not do a sample rear mirror upgrade to my satisfaction so I never did return to Jordan Ford at San Antonio, Texas. I was told it would hold its value , after 16 months it is worth 45% of its purchase price. I will not buy another Ford product again.

Fairly Good - 2002 Ford Windstar
By First Ford Ever - August 3 - 2:00 amA great road cruiser and very comfortable on long trips. Safety ratings top which was important to us. Video a hit with the kids. Dealership is best Ive ever dealt with though, so making ownership experience tolerable. Road noise too much at this level.

2002 Ford Windstar - 2002 Ford Windstar
By chubren - November 26 - 2:00 amWe have only had it one year and my wife loves it. It has run well, so far. The only problems have been a strut that went bad after only a couple months and the poor quality of the interior. Our last Windstar had very comfortable seats. The metal supports in this van have come up through the padding on the seats and the headrest. The speaker volume cuts out in one of the sliding doors. The only other negative aspect is the pick up. It takes a few seconds of hitting the gas, before it really takes off.
