Overview & Reviews
There are several model/series changes, as well as updates to the exterior, interior and powertrain. Ford says a new transmission has improved shift quality and the 3.8-liter V6 is standard on all Windstars. The base model is now called the Windstar LX three-door. The SE Sport is a new trim level and it includes driving lights, painted bumpers and body-side molding, a rear lift gate spoiler, a second-row bucket/console seat, a roof rack with brushed aluminum crossbars, black rocker cladding, and different wheels and tires.
- Top-flight safety equipment and ratings, plenty of interior features and options, sonar backup warning system.
- Floaty ride, restricted legroom for second- and third-row passengers, noisy engine.

comfortable ride - 2001 Ford Windstar
By n2games - February 8 - 2:00 amAs the driver of this car, I find it more comfortable than any of the other cars I drive for work. I drive about 50,000 miles a year total. I rent cars about 1/2 the time. The windstar has plenty of power and room in the driver seat to get comfortable.

Piece of Junk! - 2001 Ford Windstar
By Kim Oleman - January 31 - 2:00 amWe purchased our Windstar with 30,000 miles. We have had it 6 months. The electric seat adjuster went out the next day. The locks went out 1 month after purchase. The right sliding door does not stay shut at times. And now the transmission went out at 53,000 miles. I have never been so unhappy with a vehicle.

I love my windstar! - 2001 Ford Windstar
By mommyofone - September 15 - 2:00 amI really love this car - weve had no problems at all with it. Its very comfortable, great for long trips. Great headroom - my husbands 65", and hes able to comfortably sit in his seat, doesnt have to tilt the seat back at all. Id recommend this van to anyone. Great crash rating.

Windstar SEL 2001 - 2001 Ford Windstar
By Wonderman - September 13 - 2:00 amThis has been a great vehicle. A little short on power and inside conveniences but very reliable and great gas mileage. Just bought a 2003 as a matter of fact.

No problems, Yet? - 2001 Ford Windstar
By contented customer - August 25 - 2:00 amSo far, no problems. I have heard horror stories about this 3.8 engine blowing head gaskets, hopefully they have fixed that problem. Vehicle is everything I thought it was supposed to be, being a minivan and all. Dual auto- sliding doors make it useful with 2 little ones. Dont think there is one thing that has gone bad in this vehicle, other than the VCR for some reason wont pull out. Not that it matters since Id rather it stay where it is. The rear reverse sensors do get annoying as it does beep alot even when nothing is behind the vehicle. I just hope that everything continues working as great as it has been.

Our 2001 Windstar - 2001 Ford Windstar
By minivan marv - August 21 - 2:00 amMy wife and I recently rolled up our sleeves and ventured into the uncharted territory of minivan ownership. We immediately fell in love with the smooth ride of the Windstar and both felt that we would gladly sacrifice cornering prowess for a smooth ride. In the end, we couldnt get the Windstars ride or reputation of safety out of our minds and have no regrets about our decision. With lots of power, great visibility, a smooth ride and almost no road noise, we feel very comfortable bombing around town or heading out on a long trip.

2001 Ford Windstar LX - 2001 Ford Windstar
By evblitch - June 17 - 2:00 amNice ride however the trunk door is really heavy and can be quite hard for a petite person to reach up and close. Paint scratches very easily. Drives very smooth and can fit up to 7 people comfortably. I like the option of being able to take out the 3rd seat.
