Overview & Reviews
The 2006 Ford Ranger pickup receives revised exterior trim and styling details. Available on both two- and four-door extended cabs this year, the FX4 model now comes with rubber flooring. Lastly, the Edge model has been renamed the Sport.
- Multiple trim levels and options, functional interior, solid off-road capability.
- Dated platform, weak engines, choppy ride, lack of modern features and amenities, no crew-cab body style or side airbags.

FX4 level II - 2006 Ford Ranger
By Matt - August 18 - 8:06 pmI purchased my 2006 FX4 II about a week ago. I have never been ashamed of myself for doing so. I have a five-speed manual and the 6-cd MP3 system. It goes right up to speed, runs around 2500rpm at 75, and has one heck of a sound system.

Great Ranger - 2006 Ford Ranger
By Gety - August 4 - 6:35 pmLove the truck overall, exterior design is great looking, like the interior, nice horsepower and torque for the little hauling I do. Get about 17 mpg in town never tested it on HWY but Im guessing its about 20-22 mpg. My uncle claims he gets 24 mpg with the 4.0 but I dont believe it.

Gas mileage Isnt Close To The EPA Rating - 2006 Ford Ranger
By michael - July 15 - 12:17 pmIve found our truck to be a fun and nice looking vehicle. The interior is spacious and all gauges/controls are well within reach. Im very happy with the styling and performance of the truck. The only real drawback is the 14-15 MPG which Ive experienced. Im getting this MPG on the interstate with the cruise on!

2006 Ford Ranger XLT - 2006 Ford Ranger
By Drew - May 26 - 2:53 pmIncluding the $3000.00 rebate, this truck is absolutely the best bang for the buck. If youre looking for something a little more stylish, go buy something else. If youre looking for a good quality, small size pick-up that rides and handles like a truck, and actually looks like a truck, this is your best bet. I love my new Ranger.

Nice little truck - 2006 Ford Ranger
By TM - May 12 - 4:31 pmThe truck drives well and handle adequately. It does lean a little too much due to the stiff suspension. The only major complaint is the gas mileage. I have the large engine with the 4:11 rear end, but the mileage is less than 17mpg. Pretty bad for a little guy. Also the base cost of the vehicle is a little high.

My Ranger - 2006 Ford Ranger
By Doug - March 6 - 9:27 pmI bought my Ranger only because it was the best deal at the time. I have kind of lost the "look at me" appeal of a vehicle to the more practical side of things. I have owned just about every make of pickup on the market. Without a doubt so far my favorite has to be the one I have been driving for the last eight months. I go out of my way to compare my truck to any Toyota. Gas mileage could be better.

Durable Truck - 2006 Ford Ranger
By yellaranger - February 22 - 12:40 pmI really like the look of this truck. This is my first truck and American vehicle and I have to say I like the look of the Sport model. So far its been very reliable. Coming from owning many Japanese makes, I feel that the engine doesnt feel quite as smooth as the Japanese however I feel like my truck has character. A lot of cars nowadays are all computerized and dont really give you much pleasure. I like the sound of the V6 and the seats are really comfortable. I just wish I could get a little better gas mileage.

Battle Tested - 2006 Ford Ranger
By Ed T. - February 6 - 1:34 pmYeah, its not the new, high tech, BIG Tacoma, or the high powered Frontier. Its just a time tested, classic looking, reliable truck, which very quietly still holds its own with a very dated platform. It does everything I ask of it, for about $3500-4500 dollars less than a comparably equipped Toyota or Nissan. Its comfortable, relatively quiet, and the 4.0 has plenty of power and torque. Ill stick with the battle tested American classic! Fully loaded for just over $20,000! Please, next question.....

outdated - 2006 Ford Ranger
By cheap deal - January 29 - 10:39 pmPrice was the main reason for purchasing. Good deals on outdated size and style. Back seats only good for small children or putting cargo in. Ride isnt bad for small truck, but when empty very choppy on rough roads.

Good truck thats still a bargain - 2006 Ford Ranger
By Jim L - October 27 - 2:42 am29 mpg on the freeway! Need I say more? My reason for trading in my Dodge Ram for the 4 cylinder Ranger. Design may be dated, but I like the look. Made a great deal on this truck when not able to with the imports.
