This Year's Model Updates:

Lower-line V6 models get standard 16-inch alloy wheels and a new hood while losing the fake side scoops. Premium models can be equipped with a Mach 1000 audio system. Both this system and the Mach 460 get speed-sensitive volume. Later this year, an MP3 player will be available. Performance Red paint is replaced with Torch Red.

Pros:
  • Strong V8 power with GT, fun to drive, appealing all-American style, good crash-test scores, ragtop option.
Cons:
  • Solid rear axle, excessive gingerbread detailing on GT, poor stereo ergonomics, flaccid seats.

I love this car! Always reliable and looks beautiful. The car has never let me down. Just enough power to get you in trouble, while still getting good gas mileage! The car is comfortable and a pleasure to drive. Takes about 3 seconds to pass a motorhome while cruising at 55mph on the highway. The car provides excellent performance. Suspension is stiff, so you dont get the luxurious ride of a Lincoln, but that was not the manufacturers idea. Would highly recommend!

  • I loved my STANG! - 2002 Ford Mustang

I bought my Mustang as my first large purchase and a good one at that. I also bought the extended warranty (which I recommend for any car). I changed the oil every 3,000 miles and had all the recommended work done. I had a couple of leaks here and there, but nothing that wasnt covered under the warranty. I bought it at 20,000 miles and drove it until someone hit and totaled it at 70,500 miles. I was Ted on a city street very hard and the Mustang held up like one of those ancient tank cars. Im very sad now, but I will always love my Mustang!

  • Not Too Bad...Not Too Good Either - 2002 Ford Mustang

I bought the Mustang GT Vert for one reason: to have fun on those summer days/nights. For performance, it doesnt pull like a V8 @ all. Its missing a little grunt. For a 260HP/3800+Lbs ratio, I really did not expect for this car to fly. Interior design is superb, especially that I got the tan leater interior. I really dont like the fact that Ford had to place the shifter so far. An 18 wheeler trucks shifter is much closer. Exterior design:It takes time before you get used to it. Hate those antennas. For a car under $30K, I would recommend the Mustang GT, NOTHING ELSE!!!

This is the 2nd Mustang GT that I have owned the first being a 2000. I love everything about the car. It is fun to drive on the freeway and through the curves. The 02 is much improved over the 2000. The clutch and transmission seem to be in better harmony with the car and the driver. Given the chance, I would purchase the same car again.

  • Mustang GT Convertible - great car! - 2002 Ford Mustang
    By -

I have owned my 2002 Mustang GT Convertible now for about 18 months. It consistently outperforms the hottest of import sports cars, even those advertising 30-40 more horsepower. Gas mileage is a pleasant surprise... 18-20 in town, 25-27 on the highway. The car is not really tightly built, but it holds up well even under hard use. The sum total of the pieces add up to a car that is quick, fast, exciting and fun to drive, and turns heads wherever it goes. I could not have done better with my money.

  • Least expensive sports car you can buy - 2002 Ford Mustang

I just purchased my 2002 Mineral Gray Mustang GT two weeks ago. I was going to trade in my wifes car, give her my SUV (since she is stopping work), and buy a sports sedan for myself. I looked around and found that the sports sedans I liked, even used, were about $27k and up. I found this car with 17k miles for $15.8k. So I kept both cars and added this as a third. It already has the Magnaflow exhaust and cold air intake system. I highly recommend the Magnaflow exhaust for this particular year. It really sounds great. Not too loud, not as soft as the stock. I have a 3 year old and a 1 year old and they fit in the back no problem. Took 7 years of convincing my wife, but worth it.

Many say that the Ford Mustang is not safe to drive in the rain or in the snow. I have driven it in both weather types. I believe that it does just fine. The thing to worry about is the driver. You know youre driving a sports car, therefore, be careful and everything else is fine.

  • Good Value - 2002 Ford Mustang

I bought the GT as a "second" car for fun and to be an owner of the most popular performance car ever. Its a good car - no big complaints. Acceleration is adequate given the factory gear ratio. Cornering and handling are merely average considering the weight of the vehicle. I got the Mach 1000 option and am only marginally satisfied with its performance considering the price ($1200). Build your own stereo system, swap the axle gears to a 3.73 or 4.10, add a Predator tuner, and buy a lowering/performance suspension system and youll have a great car.

  • Ford Mustang -- fun to drive - 2002 Ford Mustang

This car has definitely been fun to drive it handles great and has a lot of power. However, I just spent two weeks in a rental because of rust on the panel above my windshield. The seal was faulty and 3 months out of warranty. I dont suggest an aftermarket car starter. My car has issues with starting due to it. Other than that, I love it!

  • LOVING MY MUSTANG - 2002 Ford Mustang

I finally got my Mustang and I love it. The car has been very reliable and I look forward to driving it in the future. Everywhere I go, people cant help notice this beautiful car. It really is a classic and I am very proud to have it.
