  • Going from Dodge truck to Dodge car - 2005 Dodge Neon

I have had my 2005 Neon SE for just over a month and feel it is a good car for the money - especially with rebates. I expected about 29 to 30 mpg given the EPA ratings but only got about 26 on the first take. It seems to have gained about 1 mpg every tank until it hit about 29.5 mpg. The performance is quite acceptable given the power of the engine although the transmission can shift oddly at slow speeds. I drove a manual for years so the behavior may be normal. My only complaints are some unattractive black styrofoam under the steering wheel column in the dash. It is visible and identifiable as styrofoam. There is no option to enable the power outlet when the ignition is off.

We love this car and MPG. For the money you cant go wrong. The interior has so much room and comfort, great stero and options.

I really do like this car. The only thing is that I dont like the ride quality at a stop. It shakes too much but it makes up for that in the banging system you get for such a cheap price. This car also has a sporty feel to it

  • Wouldnt Have Believed it - 2005 Dodge Neon

If someone would have told me how sweet this car was I wouldnt have believed it. But once I drove it I was hooked. Sure its a little rough around the edges, but its dead on where it counts. Outperforms cars that are thousands more right out of the dealer lot. Performance upgrades are cheap and easy. Racing style Seats are great after getting used to them. I took a 4 hour trip a month after getting the car and I didnt even think about them. Its a nice commuter car. Small enough to zip around town, fast enough to get away from the SUVs that dominate the roads. Small performance car designers should use this as a template.

I finaly went out and drove the SRT-4 yesterday and was more than pleasantly supprised. Understeer was very minimal with considerable wheelspin on slower corners. But when I expected understeer the car clung to its line and glided exactly where I wanted it. High speed cornering was a little less impresive with the car seeming to wobble around and not want to keep a set but overall balance was excellent for a car in this class. Compared to the nissan spec-V the dodge has much less understeer on slower cornering and accelerated with a punch that the nissan didnt have. However on the high speed corners the SER seemed more set and planted at the limit. all in all I had a smile on my face.

Excellent power, serious fun to drive. You cant find anything better than this unless you spend $10k more and move up to the $30k range to get a Evo or STI. I simply cant think of a car under $30k that can beat the performance of SRT-4. If you are tight on cash and want serious performance, this is your choice. If you are loaded and dont want to park your M3 around the train station every morning, SRT-4 is the only car that you can enjoy driving (and the thrill) and wont feel too bad to find a scratch on it after you return from work.

  • Very good for price - 2005 Dodge Neon

I was looking for a second car, cheap and economical. (Replacing a Corolla 99). Its less refined in the interiors but meet the requirements. It is more fun to drive, better equiped, and has outstanding audio (almost U$ 5000 less than Corolla, Civic and Mazda3 in Puerto Rico)An excellent car for the price!

Economy car that provides good gas mileage and reliable transportation. Drives 80 miles a day to work. Last Neon (1998) drove 175,000 miles and only needed a head gasket. Very happy with all around performance.

Although I have not had my SRT-4 for very long, I can say that this car is not your ordinary Neon. The car has plenty of power to back up the fact that it is still a Neon. Not to mention the car handles extremely well from the factory. Overall I am very impressed thus far a look forward to further enhance the performance of my SRT-4 in the future.
