This Year's Model Updates:

The TrailBlazer gets a host of minor interior improvements this year. Seating has been restyled and boasts comfort and quality improvements. Detail changes include revised chrome accents, trim enhancements and a new instrument panel appearance. Among the new options are an audio system with CD/MP3 compatibility and full-length side curtain airbags (which replace last year's front-seat side airbags).

Pros:
  • Strong engine performance, comfortable highway ride, extensive features list, user-friendly controls.
Cons:
  • Skittish handling around corners, numb steering, generic interior design with mediocre materials.

  • PROBLEMS! - 2005 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

Man, I thought I was gaining great bargain. We purchased my 2003 trailblazer ext LT from the local carmax for 20998. It only had about 29K miles on it. The first month it was in the shop for a problem with the engine fan that locked up. second month, brakes gas seal and brake lights went out had to be entirely repalced, third month, the RPM gauge stopped moving, got a quote of 400 to fix, not to mention the door mechanism began scraping, an extra shove is required to get out of the driver side. Trading in ASAP! I guess you get what you pay for.

I got one because I thought it looked good and it was a Chevy which made me think reliable. I have a 03 Blazer with over a hundred thousand miles no problem at all. With less than ten since I bought my 05 TrailBlazer with 30 thousand miles Ive changed the water pump, power steering went out and the windows howl at high. Speeds due to bad weather stripping around the doors. The engine does have plenty of power and it handles well.

Not a bad ride but I find myself "strapped" in and confined inside the driver seat. Theres no space to put anything inside. Its a lower ride than the Explorer. I havent had to use 4 wheel drive yet. The sound system is excellent. If you have kids or use it for carpooling - the back has its own climate controls, as does the passenger front.

We bought our second GM SUV this year it seems to be a nice vehicle. It delivers a very comfortable ride. And fuel economy well, it is an SUV. Not so great. It does tow well. We tow a 21 foot boat and it handles well. Overall I would buy another TrailBlazer.

  • Never again - 2005 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

I purchased my TrailBlazer used, it drives and looks great, lots of wind noise until I put on wind deflectors from wal-mart to keep the rain off the door electronics. I had serious noise in 4wd and was told it was from dry pavement.now the front def. has to be replaced and GM has offered 25% of a $5,000 bill that can be done elsewhere for $2,000 a 12 labour charge because of a very poor design. I have had to replace the rotors and pads, tie-rod ends at 60,000K. The seat skirts have to be repaired. Kept loosing antifreeze, GM replaced the Head gasket to stop the leak. No wonder GM is a sinking ship. Tires need to be replaced now at 70,000K.

  • What do you think? - 2005 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

I just bought the TrailBlazer and I think I like it. I am not sure about the gas mileage. I think it could do a lot better, but it rides like a Caddy and I like that. But so far so good!

  • Piece of junk! - 2005 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

I have had my 05 trailblazer for almost 2 years and nothing but problems! Aside from all the mechanical problems, the wind noise around the Windows is terrible, gas mileage is less than the sticker says, interior is made very cheap, inside of the rear doors are rusting, rear wiper hinge has broke many times, tires wear unevenly. Ive always had a Chevy but never again! My advice is dont but a trailblazer! Oh and their trade in value is terrible!

  • not happy but stuck - 2005 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

Tranny went out at 30K miles. Gm put band-aids on & would not replace it. I am very disgusted w/GM service. Never again. Trailblazer is worse than most on retaining value. I am in the tank on this one & still bought it 8K under list price. For an LT the stereo sucks.Rear leg room not much. Better to spend the money on a used Tahoe.Mileage is no different. Handles terrible and wind noise is the worse I have ever seen. Not reccomended by me to buy one.

  • Cheap Cheap Cheap - 2005 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

I own a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer LS 4x4, purchased it in February 2006 with around 11,000 miles on it. Since Ive owned the vehicle, Ive already replaced the rotors. The rubber molding trim around the back doors comes through when the doors are shut. The black plastic molding around the front driver side door handle keeps falling off- local Chevrolet dealership fixed it and it fell off again. The front passenger seat molding around the bottom of the seat is loose. The glove compartment will completely fall out onto the floor from time to time. Overall this vehicle was made cheap and Ill never buy another one. Im looking into trading for a Toyota 4Runner.

  • Hunk of Junk! - 2005 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

I have had my TrailBlazer for 2 years and have had nothing but problems. The first thing that went wrong was the driver side panel on the seat had to get replaced within a year. The second thing was the rear windshield wiper hinge had to be replaced. The fourth is the passenger side panel on the seat had to be replaced. The fifth thing is my dash and headlights keep dimming often. I took it to the dealership and they claim its normal. The sixth item is the rear windshield wiper hinge had to be replaced again. The final thing so far is that my hatch shocks are going out and the hatch will not open all the way. This truck is junk. Im getting a foreign car. I had a 5 year old Civic, and not one problem.
