Overview & Reviews
A touchscreen navigation system is optional on Tahoe this year, and all models now come standard with the overhead rear liftgate (with separate rear lift-glass). The Z71 off-road package can now be had with two-wheel drive.
- Strong engines, roomy and versatile interior, numerous available amenities.
- Spotty build quality, interior materials could use improvement.

Love my 05 Tahoe Z71 4X4 - 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe
By Mike - December 28 - 8:59 pmIve owned my 05 Tahoe since July of this year and love it! Before this I owned a 98 Jeep Cherokee XJ and the Tahoes ride is luxury compared to the Cherokee. It handles very well considering its size and very easy to drive. Bumps in the road are barely felt. It has a nice cushy feeling when it goes over bumps and dips. Not harsh at all. Ive taken it off road once (very mild) and it handled itself very well. I know the Jeep brand has its heritage in off-roading but the Tahoe did just fine in minor situations. I feel confident driving in the rain too. Ive gone through puddles on the freeway with the Jeep and felt a little hydroplaning but the Tahoe just drove through them.

SUV king - 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe
By Jim - December 19 - 1:05 pmPretty much an optimized SUV.There is a reason why so many people buy these trucks ! My family and I are enjoying the heck out of it ! The only issue I have is with the gearing, GM went with the 3.42 rear gear instead of the 3.73 ( which the 2004 and older units had ) I the intrest of fuel economy. Drivability however has been sacrificed at certain cruising speeds. The truck is not turning enough RPMs in top gear, and provides a sluggish feel below 75 MPH. Which is problem considering there are not to many places that allow you to drive that fast ! However, @ 85 MPH I think Im only turning 2200 RPMs, talk about a highway cruiser !!!

Love it - 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe
By greg - December 3 - 9:50 amI love how comfortable it rides. It looks good and has a lot of room inside to haul things. You can make a lot of adjustments to have the Tahoe fit your needs.

Love my Tahoe - 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe
By Margaret Wise - December 1 - 11:31 amI pull a small travel trailer and was driving a Buick Rainier. I just love the Tahoe, but was afraid it was too big. We had Suburbans and a Yukon before this, but this handles so much better, you would swear you were driving something the size of the Rainier. All my previous experiences with full size SUVs has been put to bed. This is fun, easy and a real kick to drive. Not to mention the looks it gets with its great style and presence.

One Great SUV - 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe
By Bill V - November 16 - 1:51 amI have owned a lot of Trucks and several SUVs and this rig is hands down my favorite of all times. It is Fun to drive, very comfortable and pull my camping trailer like its not there. The Tahoe is solid and has a lot of power, Im able to pull my trailer up a steep grade leading to our favorite camp ground at 55 MPH, my old SUV could only go 25 MPH max. The gas mileage is not bad for such a large SUV on a recent trip I was able to get 18 MPG. I didnt want the on- star but it came with it and now I could not live without it, the hands free phone it a great feature and works were my flip phone wont.

Best Vehicle Ever Owned - 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe
By Al - November 15 - 3:46 amThe 2005 Tahoe is the best vehicle I ever owned. I had a Dodge Grand Caravan prior to this and I disliked it. Poor quality interior, and uncomfortable. Ive owned a lot of vehicles and also own a 1979 Corvette. I like driving my Tahoe better. My next vehicle? A Tahoe.

What a Joy - 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe
By mrgn4shw - November 10 - 3:15 pmTraded my old 98 Tahoe for 2005. Even with the price of fuel, still glad I did it. I feel safer and the comfort of the ride is great. Holds dogs, grandkids and pulls a horse or boat trailer. Put the seats down or take them out and have tons of room for luggage and a place for another person to rest while doing cross country trip. I am getting 16 mi per gallon on the highway and 14-15 around town. I love my Tahoe

Yeah, baby! - 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe
By Big E - November 8 - 1:42 pmIve been waiting a long time to be able to buy a Tahoe, and Im not disappointed. The CD player stopped working recently and OnStar did not work when new. Dealer service and satisfaction has been excellent and way more than I expected.
