I bought my Malibu brand new from the dealership and it has all the bells and whistles. Its been 3 years this month and Ive had the steering column replaced due to a recall(after taking it 2 times to have it checked before the recall). Ive had the 6 disc cd changer replaced because my disks were stuck in it, Ive had to buy touch up paint because the paint jobs so thin that any brush against an object scrapes to the grey plastic and now the batterys dead in my key fob & they have to order a whole kit to replace it!! Oh, & my sunroof rattles when its open. Im just afraid that when my factory warrantys up, Ill be up the creek with this car!

Very quiet, competent and responsive ride on this nicely equipped sedan. Transmission struggles at times to provide modest acceleration, very responsive when you need rapid acceleration. Attractive interior.

I love my Malibu, however, I have had numerous little things go wrong. One would be the steering, which I was re-imbursed. Then the stereo. My CD is stuck in my player, and I have found out many people have this problem. It is going to cost me $500 to fix it. As far as snow driving, it rocks! Durablity interior, rocks! Comfort is good. My dash makes a lot of noises, such as vibrating noises, this is agravating. Overall 1-10 I would give it, a 6 or maybe 7. Pretty good.

  • Cant beat the price!! - 2005 Chevrolet Malibu

GM rebates and other incentives convinced me that I could be happy with this stylish domestic vehicle. The ride is excellent, with the Saab platform. The 4 cyl. is a bit of a dog but the mileage Im getting is worth overlooking this (28 ave., city.) The seats are comfortable and the instrumentation is easily reached and visually convenient. Real nice sound system for an "aging rocker"! Lots of backseat and truck space in addition to the spacious front cabin area. Handling is adequate as are the brakes. The Malibu meets my realistic expectations of a quality car. It is not however, my Camry.

A truly fun car to drive. All interior controls in close proximity to the driver. On one 400 mile trip with AC used sparingly, the car averaged 38 mpg. There is plenty of cargo space. Air conditioning with outside air at 93 degrees on maximum brought in 40 degree air easily cooling off the car. A great car .

Recently bought the 2005 LT model. The car is excellent, smooth on the road, lots of interior space and is fun to drive. In the short time Ive had it Im getting about 26 mpg city and 31.7 highway. Prior to buying, I had read reviews giving the car high ratings, and reviews saying the car is so-so, and that Honda (Accord) and Toyota (Camry) have nothing to worry about when compared to the Malibu. All I can say that after comparing all three and now owning the Malibu, the Malibu can easily hold its own against the Accord & Camry.

  • Disappointed, and Problems - 2005 Chevrolet Malibu

Sometimes the starter sticks, you may have to turn it off and restart it- sticks in the starting position. Tierods on both sides wear often-within 3000 miles. Bought car at 20000 miles and by 34000 miles had replace both tierods and steering rack. And at 37,000 miles tierods were popping again. Noise in the steering column was caused by a bad steering rack. Performance and milage excellent. Good stereo system. Bad design in frontend construction.

My last car was a Pontiac Grand Am so I made a conscious decision to buy a more powerful car and I definitely got it! As a recent college graduate, this car is decidedly more grown-up without having the stuffiness of its larger counterpart, the Chevy Impala. Good stereo, comfy seats, and ample leg room make this a good choice. I usually get 22-25 mpg with city driving.

  • Close, but no cigar.. - 2005 Chevrolet Malibu

I have 2 issues with this vehicle, and neither can seem to be cured by GM or the dealer. First, the car just wanders all over the road. You need to constantly adjust the steering wheel to keep it in the center of the lane. and up until the first snow storm in my area, I didnt have any other issues and would have lived with the other, but when we had our first snow storm, the windshield wipers showed there problem. For some reason, and I cant understand why no one else seems to notice this, is that the passenger windshield wiper wipes the water right onto the view of the driver, and seems to fall right between my eyes. I get a headache everytime I drive the car. Not a good selling point.

I just hit 48,000 on my Malibu and I have been very happy. For a V6 200hp I get very good mileage. I have been averaging about 30 in the summer and 25 in the winter. Some of the people that are claiming better gas mileage than this are going off of the inboard computer and the numbers are skewed a bit. I actually use a calculator and check my mileage based on my travel. I have noticed the computer is off about 2-3 mpg most of the time. The ride in the car is very good and a lot better than I thought it would be. I would replace the factory tires if you can. They arent that great. I have had no problems with the car other than replacing the rear brake pads.
