Overview & Reviews
The supercharged Impala SS joins the lineup for 2004. Besides offering 240 horsepower, the SS features a tightened suspension to allow it to take corners with a bit more gusto. Base and LS models have redesigned bench and bucket seats, and a sport appearance package is now available on the base sedan.
- Six-passenger seating availability, good crash test scores, torquey V6 engines.
- Vague steering, soggy suspension on base and LS models, low-buck interior.

Neat car - 2004 Chevrolet Impala
By Brian - October 31 - 9:20 amI purchased this vehicle in Aug 2003 when it first came out. I now have 72,000 miles on it and no complaints. It has only needed basic service. It needed new tires at 50K and new brakes at 60K. Only normal service issues. Three car seats fit in the back. Cornering has been excellent, expressway driving has been excellent 30+ mpg at 70 mph. Local driving averages 25 mpg. Could use a better sound system.

Great car at a great price - 2004 Chevrolet Impala
By Wil4189 - October 7 - 11:36 amI pruchased this car with 25,000 miles, and have put 36,000 on myself. The most major repair has been the replacement of lubricant in the steering shaft, cost a whole $100. I am ecstatic with my gas mileage. I drive 500 miles a week, and I average 28 to 32 miles per gallon. Runs smooth with a great ride. Very minor road noise but nothing major. For a car with only 180hp, it does move when you want it to. It has great styling, I love the design of the dash and gauges. The outside has a great apperance and stance. I have added some custom floor mats and upgraded the stereo by a lot. I will be adding tint and rims soon! However, if youre planning on an Impala, get one with an autodimming mirror!

Great car - 2004 Chevrolet Impala
By Becky King - September 3 - 3:09 pmThis is a great, solid car. Sporty enough for a middle aged gal like myself, but grown up enough for a middle aged gal like myself. It handles great, and has a good solid feel. There is little cabin noise, and there is plenty of room for passengers. All of the controls are comfortably placed. In fact, I prefer it to newer models I have driven. I average about 29 mpg on the highway, and 22 mph in town.

04 IMPALA SS - 2004 Chevrolet Impala
By bob28 - September 2 - 2:00 amLast three cars were Saabs.when Saab changed design to look like everything else, i decided to try something different. looked at acura tsx, altima, crown vic and gran prix and decided to go with the impala ss for its combination of roominess (my spreading rear end fits in the front seat and backseat large enough for grandsons carseats) performance (great low end torque w/o noticeable torque steer) and lots of standard features at a reasonable price ($3500 rebate). nice solid ride, not floaty like the base impalas.

2004 Impala LS - 2004 Chevrolet Impala
By Bob C - Long Island - August 21 - 9:09 amThis car has proved to be 95% of what I had hoped it would be. It is very comfortable, fuel efficient, plenty of room and performance is decent. I have 18,000 miles on it without any major problems and only one minor intermittent problem with dashboard lighting - sometimes becomes very dim, but only during daytime. I definitely recommend this car for anyone wanting a comfortable, safe and reliable car.

A sensable vehicle - 2004 Chevrolet Impala
By Nat - July 10 - 10:00 amSince driveing the 2004 Impala LS, it is a pleasure to drive. The 200 HP engine delivers great performance and is easy on the fuel bill. The transmission is smooth shifting upon excelleration and stopping. The ride is smooth and comfortable. Plenty of desired standard equipment. Recommend power seats, driver and passenger, for a better selection of individual desired comfort. Plenty of room inside and especially in the trunk for transporting cargo. I would compare this vehicle to a Cadillac for a a good deal of less money. Insurance is quite reasonable for a good driving record rates.
