This Year's Model Updates:

The supercharged Impala SS joins the lineup for 2004. Besides offering 240 horsepower, the SS features a tightened suspension to allow it to take corners with a bit more gusto. Base and LS models have redesigned bench and bucket seats, and a sport appearance package is now available on the base sedan.

Pros:
  • Six-passenger seating availability, good crash test scores, torquey V6 engines.
Cons:
  • Vague steering, soggy suspension on base and LS models, low-buck interior.

Handling superb -- compares favorably to the 2003 Nissan Maxima. 280 ft-lbs torque really gets your attention. Little body roll for a car this big. Very tight suspension and seventeen inch wheels make it very sporty. Reliability should be good (at least, compared to domestic or European automobiles,) as the 3.8L engine has been around since the late 80s. Complaint: Chevy doesnt know how to design an plush interior. Buick leather is much nicer, the interior just has too much plastic, and bucket seats need a little more lateral support. The XM Satellite Radio, however, was a nice touch.

Great deal on a Mid/Large Sedan. Couldnt go wrong on a 2004 Impala (1SB package) with on five miles on it and an out the door price of $18,700 (included tax, tags, and title)

This is a quality car. Its good looking, affords reasonable mileage, rides and handles well. The price was very good, with my GM card refund and the $3000 cash back I got a fully loaded car at a very reasonable price. Ive had several Chevys over the years and have found them to be reliable sedans.

  • I like this car - 2004 Chevrolet Impala

Over all I like this car. I think the outside trim along the doors should be the basic black instead of the same color of the car. When someone hits your door with their door, your paint chips on the trim. Who wants a brand new car with a chip in the door? It made me SICK. MPG was big thing for me, and it does do pretty good. Im a little disappointed the car doesnt hold its value. You buy it for 26K and in a year they are selling them for 17K. That alone is enough to make me wish I had bought European. Aside from repair costs I guess.

Going from a Cavilier to the Impala LS is a GOD SEND. This car has plenty of power and is absolutely beautiful. We chose the Superior Blue Metallic and have had nothing but compliments. I am extremely happy so far. Hope it remains that way.

GREAT CAR, THE ONLY DISAPPOINTMENT WAS HAVING A CASETTE IN THE CAR-NOBODY USES CASETTE ANY MORE.IT IS LIKE PUTTING AN 8 TRACK PLAYERIN A CAR.

  • LS - 2004 Chevrolet Impala

If you can not afford the SS buy the LS option, its fun to drive. Great pick up with the 3800 engine not quite like the SS, but a lot better than the smaller engine, the handling is great. With gas prices rising the 3800 has great mpg numbers.

  • Great car for the price - 2004 Chevrolet Impala

This car is value for money. It is roomy, comfortable, quiet, smooth and has plenty of zip. The sound system, heater and a/c are all first rate. And it was less than 20k!
