This Year's Model Updates:

New LS Sport trim level for coupes and sedans that features an all-new 2.2-liter EcoTec engine. A Z24 sedan joins the Z24 coupe at the top end of the lineup, while both the LS and base model Cavalier gain additional standard equipment and an optional Sport appearance package. Both Z24 models get an upgraded stereo and an optional Sport appearance package will be available later in the year. Three new colors have also been added along with an upgraded cloth interior.

Pros:
  • Affordably priced, new EcoTec four-cylinder engine, Z24 is a stylish and speedy low-buck sport coupe.
Cons:
  • You get what you pay for in terms of feature content, haphazard build quality, dreadfully uncomfortable seats.

just bought this car and seem to be happy with it so far. This is not my first experience with the cavalier,I traded a 1991 cavaleir in for this and never had to do anything other than routine maintanance. The ecotec engine is certainly a nice improvement and the accelleration is certainly there when you need it in this little car.

Im 17 and i got my 2002 cavalier LS Sport (4door)once my 1990 Oldsmobile died. i must say the cealer was not to friendly but once i laid my eyes on this car i just had to have it. IT was the last 2002 on the lot so we got a very nice price. I really enjoy this car to the fullest. I must say i am pretty imprest with chevy. Not because this is a top of the line vehicle but i would expect less from an american car company. I feel that chevy put out a perfect car to compeat with those hondas and toyota on the market. The seats are friendly to the bottom and the back is surprisingly spacious. The cavalier is an overall great car. Thanks mom and dad

for as much horsepower as it says it has, it sure does get up and go(when the ac is off).

  • Never Buy a Cavalier - 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier

I have to say they are good for gas milege. As a over all car would never own one again. They do not have any power and are very prone to break down. They are not worth your time or effort or money. They are only good cars if you want to spend the money onthem to repair.

I purchsed the 02 LS Sport in May 02 as my daily driver. My previous cars have always been Hondas or Toyotas. The Cav is by far the best value for the price. So far the cars had zero defect/problems. I am very impressed with handling and perfromance the 2.2 ECOTECH Engine is quick and the 5spd transmission shifts flawlessly.

Good vehicle for the price. Good motor with decent power and good fuel milage with the 5-speed. Bad brakes! Rotors cut once and replaced once already. Old style but still looks good.

My biggest complaint is cluch. I have had the car for 6 months and I still cannot pop it into 2nd smoothly. Also, the car kept stalling, but that problem started and stopped within 15 minutes. Recently, the car has a hard time turning over, as if there is a clog in the fuel lines (occus about twice a week). Finally, I fill the take more in my Cavalier than I ever did in my 94 Crown Voctoria. Overall, I like the car.

  • Love My Cav - 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier

I no Im not alone in saying that I love my Cavalier...there are so many on the road, that I simply cant be the only fan! Affordable, reliable, and full of standard features that are pricey options on similiar-class autos, the Cavalier is built for both power and budget. Choose the LS trim for better cloth seats and power features.
