  • Prettiest pile of junk I ever owned - 1992 Cadillac Eldorado
    By -

This is a beautiful car but that beauty is only skin deep. Below the skin is a mechanical junk pile of the poorest engineeering I have ever seen and I am an engineer. I thought I was buying the ultimate in American automotive engineering. In 110,000 miles I have gone thru 3 alternators, 4 water pumps, at least 5 serpentine belts, one catalytic converter and numerous failures to pass smog tests. The drivers side window does not operate properly. The radio, Bose system, is all snap, crackle and pop. Oh, and now the drivers side view mirror does not work, and the heater has given up. Like I said, it is the prettiest pile of junk I have ever owned.

I am receiving 18.6 mpg in the city and 23 mpg highway. Better gas mileage at 75- 85 mph

My 99 Eldorado was my 1st Cadillac but I had long admired the Els style. It was a lease car w 20K miles. I drove it daily until I got my new CTS last year. I like the CTS but I still love the Eldorado Theres no comparison in the ride. I drive hilly, winding roads & the El never ceases to amaze me with its easy & steady handling. Im a female 52" & always feel in control of this car even though it has supreme power when needed. Of course, there have been repairs (its about 140K now) but the engine still sounds as smooth as the day I bought it. I keep thinking I need to sell it but I cant seem to part with it. Its more reliable than most of my other old friends!

  • Trouble starting - 1996 Cadillac Eldorado

I inherited this car from my father and thought I would be able to keep it forever. It rides nicely and Ive learned how to handle it. As it has aged, it doesnt start up right away. We takes bets on how many times I have to turn the key before the engine starts each day. Then it is fine for the rest of the day. My mechanic cant fix it. I am afraid to get stuck too far away from home. But I still keep it for sentimental value.

  • Loved Mine - 1998 Cadillac Eldorado

I bought this car when I graduated high school in 2005 for $7000 with 70,000 miles, drove it for 3 years and loved it. It was relatively quick for a 7 year old car, handled like a boat, but had a soft cushy ride. It needed a $300 tune up, $400 radiator, $500 brakes, and had electrical problems, but it just kept running, never smoked or broke down. It had a great motor, but was a big heavy car, and I wasnt crazy abot the FWD. I traded it in January 2008 for $3500 with minor electrical problems

  • Satisfied - 1997 Cadillac Eldorado

My 97 Eldorado is beautiful. A Peanut butter-top on burgundy, with brand new 2008 Cadillac-Vove Rims, dipped in gold and of course brand spanking new Vove tires. I reside in Los Angeles, California, where everyone show and tell their cars, and although Im refined my Eldorado holds its own against any fancy car, even Bentleys, in the looks department. I cant say much about my powerful motor, my Cadillac dealer takes care of that stuff, but I will comment on fuel efficiency being up to par and how well my Eldorado takes care of me when Im out and about on the highways and by- ways.

I have had this car for about 1 1/2, and had numerous problems. I had to replace my water pump then the radiator, and now dished out 1600 to fix the head gaskets. I think they messed up with the design of this engine because every mechanic I ask almost all of them refused to work on them including the dealership. It has great horsepower and good on gas, but seems like if you have any problems you should just junk them. There too expensive to work on them, and any major work you got to drop the engine just to get to the source.

  • Great Ride - 2001 Cadillac Eldorado

I love the car from its northstar engine to its beautiful look. This car has impressed me as I have had a lot of sports cars and this has to be the smoothest ride out of all. People that have never rode in a Eldorado are just as impressed as I was my first ride, They are over taken by the smooth fast acceleration it has and so quiet it seems to be on a cloud.

  • All cars have the goods and the bads. - 1997 Cadillac Eldorado
    By -

My 97 Eldorado is showroom new. I live in Palm Springs California. The car over all has been exceptional. Period. I read these other reviews and Wonder about some comments. First its not really meant to be raced. I have not replaced all these items mentioned from other reviewers. The car has always been kept in the garage. It is the Pearl color with every option. The interior looks as if it just came off the show room floor. You must always take this type of car to the Cadillac dealer. Only they have the correct tools and replacement parts. It is taken once a year for its check up. It drives as if new. It always gets 28 mpg on the highway.

Not only is my caddy fun to drive, it`s a horse, on pulling & pickup, my caddy will go as fast as I want it to, it has 150 on the speedometer & I have absolutely no doubt, that it would do that & more. You would have no problem, from the pony cars, for it has a really fast pickup & when you`re doing, maybe 35 & kick it, it will snap your head back & take away your breath. I`m not bragging, I know this personally, to be absolutely, true.
