Overview & Reviews
Front lumbar supports and automatic climate control are now standard on all models, while the 4.4i gets standard park distance control. The optional auto-dimming rearview mirror now includes a digital compass. High-gloss dark wood trim is standard on the 3.0i and replaces high-gloss light wood trim as standard on the 4.4i. Anthracite wood trim and high-gloss light wood trim are available at no extra charge.
- Rides and drives like a BMW sedan, multiple drivetrain choices, top safety scores, high-end cabin furnishings.
- Not much cargo space, lousy fuel economy for a car-based SUV, expensive option packages.

What a machine - 2005 BMW X5
By shahzad manawar - January 3 - 5:51 pmI have owned an Audi A6 and Lexus RX330. This one gives the best security feeling like an armored vehicle, excellent road handling especially on wet slushy slippery roads which is very common happening in Michigan. VERY STABLE ON TURNS FOR BEING AN SUV.

I Love My X5 - 2005 BMW X5
By Beth Vilarello - December 31 - 2:34 pmMy X5 is an awesome vehicle. It handles fantastic. The interior is very luxurious. I feel very safe driving it. Unfortunately, 3 weeks ago I was rearended by a hit and run driver while stopped at a red light. The vehicle held up so well considering the impact. My husband and I were not injured at all. This is a quality vehicle well worth the money.

Shop - 2005 BMW X5
By Tom Reeder - April 15 - 5:46 pmLove driving the vehicle, looks assume, but its in the shop too much. Several trips needed to repair same problem. Have had it in shop way more then my plan Jane Chrysler mini-van. It becomes a pain after taking to shop more then twice for same item. Oh, did I mention its been to the shop too often? German excellence, not so sure, but it looks good.

Great ride - 2005 BMW X5
By Gee - September 12 - 3:50 amThis vehicle has a great ride, the cabin is quiet and it almost feels as if you are flying the ride is so smooth, even on rough terrain. The 4.4 is much more powerful than the 3.0. It forces me to watch the speedometer more ofter as I find myself speeding and not knowing.

Not your Soccer Moms SUV - 2005 BMW X5
By Cinvinman - August 30 - 1:20 pmNot wanting to sacrifice driving experience (Ive driven a 1997 BMW 5 series for the past 8 years) but needing to buy a 6,000+ lb. vehicle for my business, I settled on an X5 with the sport suspension. It has been a great vehicle. If you werent up so high, youd hardly know that you werent in a sport sedan. In addition, despite the extra weight, I average a shade less than 19.5 mpg, a mere 1 mpg short of what I was getting from my 528! The panoramic moonroof is excellent as are the sport seats. The only things I dont like are the body molding that runs under the doors - it is a dirt trap and my pant legs seem to always rub it and the lack of a super large cargo area.

smooth ride on 2005 model - 2005 BMW X5
By Fulton - April 7 - 5:16 pmThe ride is awesome, looks fantastic, very roomy for our teenagers and a third friend ... my wife wants an exact duplicate. Avoid the sport package ... makes for a bumpy ride and restrictive seats! Bluetooth function on the intergrated cellphone is seemless! Extended sunroof, creates a roomy feel in the cabin. IF YOU HAD PREVIOUS CONCERNS ABOUT THE RIDE AND PRICE, ID ENCOURAGE YOU TO TAKE ANOTHER TEST DRIVE IN A 2005 MODEL!

My BMW - 2005 BMW X5
By Len51 - January 18 - 1:33 pmI always had a 4runner which I loved but I wanted to move up to BMW and keep my SUV feel so I purchased a BMW x5. I love it. The drive is smooth and the 3.01 has a lot of kick on the freeway. On long drives the interior is comfortable and relaxing. The seat memory is a great feature. The ride is smooth and a blast to drive. Steering is steady and it handles great changing lanes and on unexpected moves. The option to drive in the sport mode makes a fun change when you are bored. The gas mileage isnt great but what I expected for an SUV and when I purchased it. The price was not much more that any other high end SUVS and I feel like I got maximum value.
